Book 2 - The Sinister Heart - Lady Cecily, a daughter of a duke, has a habit of getting into trouble. Perhaps it’s her natural curiosity or maybe, she likes excitement, especially where the notorious Lord Verne is concerned. When she’s mistaken for a hussy at the Hart Inn—by every fault of her own—staring at the handsome lord through a partially opened door in a private parlor and watching him out of her chamber window in the middle of the night—is it any surprise he abducts her? Of course, she foolishly imagines her rank and her identity are enough to protect her.

Book 3 - The Vulgar Heart - When convention clashes with love… Eager to outshine her older sisters, Henrietta Maybury is disappointed to discover the first man to make her heart race is the scion of a banking family, and therefore quite ineligible as a husband to a viscount’s daughter.

No cliffhangers and a guaranteed happily ever after!

Mary Lancaster is a USA Today bestselling author of historical fiction and historical romance. She lives in Scotland with her husband, one of three grown-up kids, and a small dog with a big personality.

Her first literary love was historical fiction, a genre which she relishes mixing up with romance and adventure in her own writing. Several of her novels feature actual historical characters as diverse as Hungarian revolutionaries, medieval English outlaws, and a family of eternally rebellious royal Scots. To say nothing of Vlad the Impaler.
Her most recent books are light fun Regency romances, with occasional forays into Victorian mystery.

The heroines are smart, not at all silly or sensitive, it's the Hs who are dramatic. The animals are fun, the families ridiculous and there are somewhat daring adventures. I especially liked the broody and moody heroes who loved their ladies. Great boxed set.

THE DESERTED HEART - 4.25 STARS

This had suspense, intrigue some twists and romance that build slowly - for me almost a home run. It dragged in parts, but still a recommended read.

I found the beginning very unique and it pulled me in. The character's were warm and inviting. I didn't care for the older sister until the last chapter. Plus the dog was a hoot.

The secondary plot line was somewhat disjointed but the rest was entertaining. There were many twists that I didn't foresee and that is worth the read, plus the suspense.

There is lovemaking within marriage, rated 2 out of 5 on heat level and only described once. Romance build slowly and I understood the reluctance of the h in her relationship with the Duke.

We have no cheating, no cliffhanger, bumpy road to HEA and lovemaking once. I can't improve on the blurb so not attempting.

THE SINISTER HEART - 4.50 STARS.

Another suspenseful story and oh, how I enjoyed how they first met - laugh out loud moment. At first, I couldn't see the H with the h, but as the story progresses you realizes all isn't as it seems. Our H is a troubled soul and has lived with guilt for 5 long years. I really enjoyed how his story unraveled, which kept me guessing.

Character's from the first book make an appearance, but you will not be lost reading it separately. There is mild lovemaking, within marriage and rated only 2 out of 5 on heat level. There is romance and it builds slowly and they don't realize their feelings for each other until they are apart. When they come together after being separated it was so sweet and written so well I could picture it unfolding.

There are so many villain's that I had no idea who was causing all the problems. So we are treated to good writing, suspense, intrigue, lovemaking, mystery and a journey to HEA that wasn't anything but smooth.

I can't improve on the blurb, just recommending this series and anything written by this author is worth your time. (ljb)

THE VULGAR HEART -5 STARS

First book by this author and will not be the last, I purchased this before I bought the bundle. It has suspense, intrigue, many villains who are strong and weak. Wonderful secondary character's that some have their own stories prior to this one. I was not lost in reading out of order.

I enjoy this author's writing style, who pulled me in from the first to the last word. The character's were strong and had depth and I felt a connection to the H/h.

Our H struggles with hatred for his father's family and he doesn't make the transition to peace quickly. He struggled and it seemed his journey was spot on.

The h was prefect for the H and even though he is almost twice her age, it didn't bother me.

The lovemaking was very mild and near the end and within marriage. Rated maybe 2 out of 5 heat level. We have no cheating, we get HEA and no cliffhanger.

I can't improve on the blurb, but recommend this touching story, that has romance that builds slowly and is wonderful read. (ljb)

A Wonderful Set

What a wonderful set of books. All three were well written, with interesting and with exciting plots, endearing main and secondary characters, and the hero's, well!! apart from being heart stoppingly handsome, were wonderful but vulnerable in their own ways, and strong and protective of their chosen heroines.
Alvan's and Charlotte's story was pure delight, Lord and Lady Overton, Charlotte's parents needed a swift kick up the rump not to realise what a gem they had in Charlotte as compared to their other two spoilt daughters, proving in the end that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and only skin deep.
Lady Cecily and Verne's story was amusing at times, very interesting and showed that Verne had hidden flaws, strengths and vulnerability, a very complicated character in fact, all of which Cecily saw.
Henrietta's and Captain Cromarty's story was heart wrenching at times, interesting and showed that although Henri was twice as young as the Captain she was quite shrewd and strong. The Captain because of his age and he wasn't of noble blood!!! attempted but failed miserably to keep away from her. I was pleased that Matthew Lacey a secondary character in the stories also got his Happy Ending amidst a rather silly, Magistrates hearing, family misunderstanding and an attempted kidnapping.
All the stories are stand alone, but the Unmarriable complete series of six books are a delight. I would also thoroughly recommend a short novella called a 'Christmas Heart' which is about Alvan and Charlotte, and is pure magic!!
I firmly believe that any reader will not be disappointed in these books.

The antics is the tale will make you n laugh out loud! Henrietta has grown up fast with all the weddings and other outrageous events with her 2 sisters! Long heralded for her beauty now Henri has a dowry! She meets a hardened sea Captain and literally tumbled into him! A scheming ex-mistress and Lord Rudd a vicious suitor, the Captain and Henri have their hands full! Throw in all 3 of Henri younger brothers and this story is hilarious and steamy!

I bought & reviewed all three of these books & everyone of them has a lot of wonderful facts & happenings from the historical time period. The heroes & heroines all had interesting stories that brought fun, mystery, romance, love & even a couple of small dogs to round out the book's characters.

I highly recommend this series to all historical romance readers along with any of Mary Lancaster's series' as they are always a fantastic read. These are wonderful stories.

Page turners, all!

Mary Lancaster is not just an excellent writer. She creates adventures and imaginative plot complications while making the Regency era live for us. I love her characters from her engaging heroines to the most formidable noble women and the scariest villains. Fortunately for us, Mary has many stories for us to delight in.

Great read.

The book has strong characters. The three stories have a very pleasing unity with plots and subplots woven expertly throughout. Lancaster has captured the times well and presented a very believable milieu and backdrop for her stories. Very satisfying read with perfect denouement 😊

I’ve not read any books by this author until this collection and they were brilliant. I love the characters and the plots of the 3 books. All are interesting and held my attention. It was a shame to finish the last book. A collection I will definitely have to read again sometime. Great entertainment!

Marriageable after all

This is one of the best series of books I have read. Did not think you could beat the first one as the ugly duckling became a swan but the second was just as good. But the last with the hardships they over came is the best.

Classic Romance

3 uncontrived stories of love, none redundant nor overlapping with trite machinations. Enjoyed the characters and stories . Will definitely follow Mary Lancaster and read more of her books.

Book 3. Henrietta and Capt. Cromarty

This is a excellent series with unique plots, very individual characters, clever dialog, romantic intimate scenes, danger and of course the Happily ever after. Absolutely everything you could want in a historical romance.

Each tale is heartwarming and fun in it's own absorbing right!!

Each story grabs you emotionally and ensnares you with mystery and intrigue from the first page of book 1 and holds you in suspense and pleasure, through each new encounter at the Hart Inn, subsequent misadventure and much anticipated joyous conclusion of book 3.
Delightfully fun with moments of refreshing whimsy, bursts of passion and tension fueled mutual attraction. Each tale has its own villains to face, insecurities to fight - whether due to outside interference, malicious scheming, family duty or deep rooted uncertainties - social barriers or misguided inadequacies. Each and all making the characters relatable and worth your time and affection.
Packed with an array of wonderfully insane family connections, amusing animals and compelling subcharacters that hold their own in their believability, charm or revulsion.
Charlotte, Cecily and Henrietta are worthy heroines - all are keen in intelligence, stubborn in their curiosity, compellingly engaging and instantly likable perhaps because of, and definitely inspite of, their differences in temperament, past histories, flashes of naivety and in their own forms of reckless abandonment to devotion and an intriguing thurst for adventure (however accidental or thrust upon them) makes them just that much more loveable in their own right.
Where as Alex, Patrick and Sydney, each in possession of a distinctive shield erected to secret their insecurities - whether derived from deep set emotions, tormented histories or charismatic bravedo - are mutually intriguing in their brooding, rakish and steadfast appearances. The all encompassing meeting of their heart's desire subsequently sets into motion a deliciously antagonistic set of twists and turns that causes moments of pure joy as revelations are revealed, facades crumbled and all consuming attraction simply refuses to be ignored until it's shaped into a much anticipated happy ever after. As a result generating rewarding banter, emotionally charged encounters and an energised tension between the couples than is uniquely distinctive to the pairing and wholely enjoyable in their development.
A wonderful boxset that I'm only devastated I didn't indulge in sooner - highly recommended and emotionally ensnaring in it's execution - brilliant!!

The series collection was wonderful. Excitement, mystery, intrigue, and lots of action. I love HEA endings. The stories started at the Hart Inn, a mystery in itself. Great story telling with great imagination.
