Today my name is Lois Reeves. I have an appointment with dominant “James Leverett” this morning, because my next assignment requires that I be a “submissive” and I have no idea what that entails. I’m about to find out… by jumping in at the deep end.

“Why do you like meting out pain? Do you enjoy hurting women?”
If possible, his smile got wider. “Is that what you think we do here? Hurt women?” He paused, and I resisted the urge to squirm. “Are women all over the world,” he leaned over the desk to give me the full weight of his stare, “crazy enough to pay for that kind of thing?” His pen tapped sharply on the desk, daring me to answer.
“All over the world?” The words didn’t come out as I’d intended them to, ending up as more of a pathetic whisper. Backing up against my chair, his large frame making me rather uncomfortable in the fragile emotional state I was in, there were a couple of seconds silence as I deliberated my next move. Needing desperately to get back to normal so I could return to work, I needed the release that I suspected only this kind of scenario could bring, without me being back in the field of course, which wasn’t going to happen until I was cleared. I’d been off work for six months now, and the inactivity was killing me. For someone who lived their life on the edge, sitting down in front of the TV channel hopping every day was one of the worst punishments possible. The adrenaline junkie in me was clamouring for a high, and I was going to sate it - one way or another.

Lois Reeves had a new skill to learn. As an undercover agent, her assignments took her into dangerous situations, but her skills saved her in the past. Her latest assignment required a new one she hadn't mastered - the act of submission.

James Leverett knew everything about remolding a person. As a Dom, it's his job to make sure his submissive's performance was up to standard. But his latest charge proved to be a difficult one to handle.

I could not think straight around this man, and it was frightening. He had my body on edge and my hormones clamoring for attention.

For me James was a charming bastard lol! He was commanding and demanding, but with a good balance of compassion. However, I didn't know him enough. There were scenes that alluded things about his background but never elaborated.

I’d signed up for an indeterminable stint of kinky sex training with a madman. This might have been the stupidest thing I had ever done, and I had done some stupid things in my time.

I like how Lois was a tough, fearless female character. But sometimes her ambition and determination blinded her. I like seeing her struggle in fighting her inner self in order to achieve her goals.



Overall, the book had an interesting storyline. Though, I'd prefer if it's faster pace. There were some parts that felt too long. As for the kinky scenes, there were a lot of teasing and taunting. I was particularly happy with a certain scene towards the end haha!

Sparks is the story of a woman learning to submit. It's the first book of A Special Agent Novel series. I'm looking forward to see how she'll cope in the next book.

Lois Reeves is an operative who must prepare for her next undercover assignment. In order to do so, she needs to understand her pain threshold and learn how to be a proper submissive. Upon meeting her exasperating trainer, she didn’t expect an immediate attraction to him but Lois is determined to succeed in her assignment.

“If I was a fly trapped in a spider’s web, the guy in front of me was a fucking tarantula: venomous and deadly.”

James Leverett is a Dominant and is simply known to be the best. Contracted to train many submissives at Elite Encounters, he’s intrigued by Lois and doesn’t believe she can truly submit. That said, James is more than ready for their game of dominance and submission.

As Lois’ session begins, she quickly learns that James is steadfast and ever so perceptive in pushing her pain and pleasure threshold to the max by introducing Lois to all sorts of play. Tested physically and emotionally, when Lois shows she’s able to handle James’ shockingly kinky tactics, she’s permitted to advance to phase two of her training.

“No, I can’t take any more of this, but I didn’t say a word. The current increased, and as the wand wriggled and danced on my clit, finally my world exploded.”

When additional details are slowly revealed about her mark, Lois begins to realize the danger of her predicament; however, she remains committed (and stubborn) despite James’ warnings. Emphasizing the emotional elements of submission and pain, Lois is schooled in vulnerabilities causing her to check her past and try to stay focused on what’s ahead. Knowing James may have an edge over her, it doesn’t take Lois long to see through some of his techniques.

“He ran his fingers down the side of my face and I shuddered, though it wasn’t in revulsion. I just felt helpless, and strangely enough, I was beginning to realize that this kind of thing turned me on in the worst way.”

There were so many elements that I loved about this book! Lois is the perfect heroine for me – intelligent, assertive, a bit vulnerable and sarcastic. James is so enigmatic, handsome and exacting. At times, I was grinning like a fool with the sexy banter between James and Lois with neither retreating. Their chemistry was palpable! When it came to session time, James didn’t disappoint with his easy confidence and electric sex appeal as he reigned over Lois’s body.

In Sparks, the character connection is intensely rich and the intentional mysterious elements added to plot and character intrigue. What I’ve come to learn with C.P. Mandara’s work is there is usually a twist and that morsel prompted an evil smile from me. This kinky read proved to be much more and I highly recommend to all kinksters! I look forward to the next book in this Special Agent series!

And that was how our story began. Little did I realise, even though I was half in love with James back then, I would soon forget all about him in less than two weeks’ time. As unbelievable as it sounds, it was the truth. When the doors of Carte Blanche opened for me, they would strip my world bare, and I’ve never been a girl who was fond of black and white. Though James had tried his best to warn me, it wasn’t until I was on the road of no return that I realised I had made the biggest mistake of my life. All alone, and with no one to turn to, I’d made my bed, but lying in it was almost impossible. Alain Dumortier was out for blood. Mine.



This was so much fun! Free on Amazon right now, too :) So, this book is about a spy/assassin taking on a new assignment. And because this a BDSM erotica book, that assignment happens to be. . .becoming a sex slave for a real bad dude. The goal: Kill the bad dude. (At least it seems like that's the goal so far) But before we get to that part, this assassin, Lois, needs to be trained on the basics of what it means to be a sub.

Training: Enter James.




James & Lois were everything. I appreciated how both of them were experienced. No innocent virgin trope here. While James was experienced, I definitely got the vibe that he was damaged, jaded, and it had been awhile since he had found someone worth caring about. The chemistry between these two were electric, and the banter smart. Also: My fear about starting this series was that the spy theme intermixed with BDSM would be. . .well, rather cheesy. The author pulled it off, though. Much is left unsaid in book 1, which I think is a smart decision on the author's part. Why exactly does Lois want to enter Carte Blanche and kill Alain? The reader is never directly answered that question. Who exactly is James, and how did he get involved with Sharpey & Cellular Operations? The author went vague with many details, which left me wanting to read on to figure out exactly what is going on.

Another thing I appreciated: This did not read like a typical dark romance. While I've fallen for James, it's not clear he's even the main love interest. It definitely looks like one or two main guys will be introduced in next book. The chemistry & erotic encounters were smoking here, but I appreciated this different/unique set up to the story. (I'm pulling for James to win this love triangle that's about to be set-up, though :)

This was very well written, with a strong cliffhanger. I'm on to the next book.

Warnings: I would recommend this book to those looking for a BDSM read. This isn't necessarily the typical 'dark captive romance' kind of book. Lots of BDSM kink. Everything is consensual in this book, some scenes verging on dubcon. Strong D/s themes.

So, I read the first half of this story as a short in an anthology a while back. I loved it! It was some good quality smut with depth . . . okay, so admittedly, it's closer to porn than smut, but I have no problem with that. :D

But in this expanded version of the story, the second half felt very disconnected from the first. I felt like the intimacy between the MC's got lost in the shuffle.

But I'm rounding up, because this author has a wicked imagination!

An intriguing opening to the series.

There are a few points I feel I need to make before I get onto the actual review of the book. Firstly this ends in a cliff-hanger and I know there are at least 3 more books in the series. The romance aspect (hopefully) builds later through the series, though there is plenty of action and attraction in this book. However I would describe the content of this particular instalment as erotica, really, really good erotica with a few little mind-fooks dropped in for fun.

The book is written first person and entirely from Lois' point of view. Much as I love dual point of views, there are secrets being kept that necessitate the single on this occasion. 'Lois' (and is that really her name?) is a complex character, and whilst we know her surface motivations there are so many other reasons that drive her actions. Some we can guess at, others will no doubt be revealed at the relevant time. It was harder to get a complete picture of James, and again it is clear he has many secrets behind that rock steady facade.

I can understand why the author chose to end the book where she did, it does make sense to break the story at that point and it is possible to read Sparks as simply an erotic encounter and to take the story no further (though you would be left with questions). However, despite being engrossed by the story a couple of times I did feel as though we weren't making enough progress. The vast majority of the book revolves around sexual scenes, mainly 'training/preparing' Lois to (pretend to) be a sexual slave. However the cleverness of the writing, particularly in the mental power plays and the inner thoughts of Lois, lifts this out of being simply erotic porn and into being a really good story.

On balance I thought this was a great opener and am itching to read the rest of the series. I definitely recommend it.

I liked most of it. But there are some problems.
There are a few editing errors, but not many and they don't really effect the story or the pace at all.
What did slow the story down is repetitive inner thoughts from Lois. That repetition is what caused the low stars for me.

The other problem is where the story ends. It is a Cliffhanger and apparently this continues throughout all 6 books in this series. I'm not fond of cliffhangers & definitely not one that continues through 6 books. BUT, this series has a unique premise and I am very curious as to how everything plays out.

Secret Agent Spies Trained in BDSM? How can you NOT be Intrigued!

The steamy parts truly are erotic & steamy. I liked both Lois and James' characters.
There is a lot of Lois revealed in this book but just a sprinkling of James.

Even though I think it could have been a much faster paced story with the repetition taken out, I am so CURIOUS as to what will happen next that I will continue the series.
I'm hoping the next one will be faster paced with less repetition.

well, hawt damn...

I am NOT a huge fan of BDSM, so the reasoning for picking this up is really NOT smth I can explain right now, but I can always rely on my curiousity. I have a bunch of that and sometimes I do act on an impulse cause of it.

This was, in fact, quite an intriguing read, meaning that beyond the really explicit, detailed and sometimes questionable moves in BDSM scenes, i found the background of the story quite challenging, as we follow the main heroine (a badass assassin, special agent), signing up for going on an almost suicidal operation of capturing the utter psychopat that runs a sex slaves underground club called Carte Blanche, but before she even tries to enter the organized auction for slaves, she must undergo an excrutiatingly limitless training for a submissive.

But along the way, she's re-living and re-experiencing flashbacks of her past tasks and the last one where she lost her partner and the man she loved.

Intriguing...

If you know CP,you already know there will be very little safe,sane,or consensual in this story.
The only BDSM element will be the instruments and methods that are used to get a person to submit.
A safeword will be given,but will it be honored,thát will be the question.
Having those details dealt with,here is a summary of today’s story.

Lois is part of an organisation that fights criminality.
This particular case needs her to be submissive,to “become a slave”.
So,she signs up for a scene with James to find out how much training she’ll need.
He wants to refuse her,finding her too headstrong,but she convinces him to give her a chance.
A session of two hours should be enough to see how much pain she can handle,is her idea.
Getting to the end proves much more of a struggle than she expected,though.....
Back at work,she’s forced to do office work until her psychologist deems her ready for full duty.
(She’s apparently been in mourning after losing her partner)
Finally,she gets the go-ahead for training to “become a slave”.
Imagine her surprise when the one to train her is the very man that haunted her mind after that so very intense session.....
This part deals mostly with her being headstrong and getting punished for it.
With a lot of sexual tension.....ánd release in a lot of ways.

What happens after,do i want to know?
The cliffhanger is intriguing enough......

The premise was interesting (the heroine, an assassin/spy needs to be trained as a sub slave so she can infiltrate a big kinky criminal fort as a sex slave) but very soon I found her (Lois) to be annoying. She’s smart and strong yet never gets the upper hand with James and then there was that “body betraying syndrome” 🙄 Nooooooo. I’m also not into that whole “crawl around naked and be fed like a pet while kneeling” thing. For all those reasons, it’s only 3 stars for me, although it is written well and the heroine could kick @ss.

Overall I thought the book was ok. I did have a couple of issues though. I had a really hard time getting into the book at first because I couldn't figure out what the premise was supposed to be about. Is she undercover? Or is she just wanting to be? Or is she trying to get over whatever is bothering her? Lois's attitude about BDSM was really over the top I felt. She was trying just too hard. She really knew nothing about it at all which just added to the confusion.

Then we have James who we really know nothing about. He acts like he has an attraction to Lois, but does he? Sometimes it just seems like it's lust. The one thing we know is that he really thinks Lois is going to die when she goes to Dumortier because he says it over and over. He won't have sex with her, but we don't know why. However, he seems like he's all for it with her boss, but again, we don't know exactly why.

Book ends on a cliffhanger. Not sure if we will get more answers or not...

Lois Reeves is a bad-ass assassin that is good at doing and finishing a job assigned to her. She's stubborn and opinionated. So, when her next assignment requires her to be "submissive" and to be trained by the well renowned dominant - James Leveritt. Can he train Lois to be a convincing "sub" in three weeks time?

This kinky, sexy and definitely hot book blew my mind with scenes that make me Googled some of it. Some scenes are intense but it didn't make me stop reading, as a matter of fact, it excites me to see what will Lois do and think with every James' command. What I also like was Lois internal monologue, it's quite entertaining. This is my cherry-poppin' book from Ms. Mandara and I greatly enjoyed it. If you're up for something hot, I highly recommend this one.

Sparks, with an almost ending

I was really enjoying this story about special agent Lois needing to train as a submissive for her next assignment.
James is just too sexy and hot as he puts Lois through her paces. Lois is doing as good a job as possible but she is work8ng with a man that is tough as nails and she is attracted to him a little too much.
The training is very hard for Lois and James seems to have too much control but she must learn or she could end up dead.
While I enjoyed the book very much, I felt the need to drop a star for an incomplete ending which forces me to wait months for the story to finish, plus I need to purchase another book!
I really wish authors would warn their readers that they intended to pull this trick on them, it's as bad as being refused a climax!!!

This book was less BDSM-y and more dark erotica. Cuz where it IS safe, It's not necessarily sane and consensual. So if anyone needs notes on BDSM, plz don't use this book...just a warning.
Now to the good stuff, it was kinky and hot. Very hot. As in you'll need a whole drawer of panties and your toys near you to go through this book. There's pain play, needle play, humiliation play, f/f, toys, ...and the list goes on.

The storyline is really good and engaging. Lois is supposed to go on an undercover assignment as a submissive and she decides to take a crash course in extreme BDSM with James Leveritt to understand all that she can go through during her case. But she doesn't see a twist coming in her very near future and also, doesn't know how to get James out of her mind after her 2 hour session with him. Will they ever meet again? What will happen to Lois on this journey to model herself into a submissive?


I loved James Leveritt. He was the perfect alpha male with a flare for hard core Bdsm and a dry sense of humour. Along with some really impressive physical moves and people-reading skills. Also doesn't hurt that he looks like an Adonis and is basically an orgasm-whisperer. *Dreamy sighs....why doesn't such people exist in real life*

Lois Reeves, on the other hand, was a 'mixed feelings' person for me. She was supposed to be this tough undercover agent/assassin...and while she did show some impressive moves during the book...she also somehow managed to give a bumbling idiot vibe. I really wanted to smack her a couple of times so that i could stuff some sense into her head.
Also, remember the warning about 'consensual' stuff I gave in the start? Yeah, it was about Lois. It's dub-con at its best. There isn't a specific yes or no to all the bdsm stuff happening to her...but she "NEEDS" to do this for an undercover assignment. Not what I would call consent tbh. You'll understand when/if you decide to read this book.

I am gonna go dive into the next book now to chase the story! And also for some really hot scenes ;) ❤️

Lois Reeves is a woman troubled, and she thinks she'll be able to solve some of her troubles by going to back to work. I've read this one as part of the A Taste of Submission boxset.

I'm sorry to say, but I didn't enjoy the book!
IMO it's in dire need of proofreading and editing.

Why didn't I enjoy the book?
It's full of contradictions, it's supposed to be BDSM but when a Dom ignores a safeword and leaves a bound submissive it isn't SSC (Safe, Sane & Consensual) or even RACK (Risk-Aware Consensual Kink) and I don't think it has a storyline. (See my highlights for more details)

Lois is one kick-ass assassin. I LOVE her.
She knows her mind, she knows her body, she knows her guns and she knows all kinds of martial arts, and she is not afraid to use them all.

What she didn’t know much about was the submissive/slave & BDSM lifestyle.
Her next job requires her to go undercover as a submissive slave in a very illegal and dangerous club filled with utter sick and cruel sociopathic cunts.

Five minutes with these guys as well as a pair of tweezers and a cheese grater...that’s all I’m asking!
Anyway, she needs to become a convincing sub who has at least 1 year of submissive training in order to get the highest bids in the illegal auction and then be shipped off to Carte Blanche (the slave club thingy) to find and assassinate the leader, Alain Dumortier.

So she goes to this company that specialises in training people in the BDSM lifestyle and that’s where she meets James.
Jesus-Fucking-Christ on a motorbike!

And...yup...I just jizzed in ma knickers...again.
From this point on her life got turned upside down and inside out.
It gets dark. Very fucking dark. And very fucking hot.
This woman is my hero and I wish I was her, lol!
I have never ‘met’ a more stubborn and admirable heroine. Ever.

The man was a sick, depraved, and utterly twisted sex addict. He had a tight ring of security that surrounded him at all times and rarely left the confines of his underground club – Carte Blanche. Oh, and he also happened to be a psychopath. Good combination, right? Out of all the men and women I'd been contracted to kill in the past, none had ever been so deserving of death as Dumortier.

Okay, if you’ve read any of my reviews, you know I like to pick my favourite sex scenes and post a wee excerpt.
But this series - every single book in this series - was packed FULL of the darkest, kinkiest and hottest sex!
I know it’s a lot to read but I’ve picked out two scenes that I kinda pulled a muscle reading…

Scene 1

“What do you think, Alain? Can we make her beg?” “Never had a problem making a woman beg before, and I don’t think tonight will be the exception.” Somehow, I had the awful feeling they were right. “Think she can take the two of us at once?” James asked. “Does she have a choice?” Adie raised his eyebrows. "No." James angled himself so he could slide his cock along my lips. Oh fuck. This was really happening. I let out an involuntary moan. "Okay, here's how it works, Alain. No cock goes inside my little whore until she begs for it first. Let's see how long the bitch lasts." Oh, God. Adie took James at his word, of course. FINAL THOUGHTS on SPARKS by C.P. Mandara
Although this series was chock-a-block with intensely sexy scenes and had no shortage of tongue in cheek humour, it also got extremely dark and fucked up. Which, of course, I loved!
I actually learned a lot while reading this series! Hahaha!
Absolutely loved it and will be adding all of C.P. Mandara’s books to my TBR mountain.

Sparks, by Christina Mandara.
Lois Reeves, running on empty after the death of her boyfriend Kiel in a motorcycle accident, is prepping herself for the most dangerous assignment of her undercover career. It consists of being a submissive to a cruel and sadistic billionaire crook who loves torturing women.

The organization she works for--Cellular Operations-- doesn't reveal itself, nor its reasons for wanting Alain Dumortier, head of La Carte Blanche, dead until late in the book. Even then it's not clear the motive for his termination.

But the training Lois submits to with James Leveritt, also an operative, but in real life head of a BDSM training school called Elite Encounters, is nothing short of breathtaking. Ooh la la! James pulls out every stop in the BDSM book in order to prepare Lois for her undercover action.

And what a program it is. She is bound, gagged, spanked, whipped, tormented, edged and denied until she orgasms again and again--all under the pretext of preparing her for what Dumortier is likely to throw at her during her submissive assignment. And it doesn't hurt that she is half in love with her trainer/tormenter.

The sexual electricity crackles from page to page as Lois withstands everything she is put through, determined to come out on top. In a final scene she is even pushed to have girl-on-girl sex with her boss, Margaret Elizabeth Sharkey, who is ostensibly drugged and unable to fend her off.

Christina Mandara excels at scenes, as she has proven in other books of hers I have read. Lois is not really meant to be a submissive, as her sadistic trainer tells her again and again, but she manages to stumble from orgasm to orgasm as he puts her through her paces.

This book is so hot, it smokes. And the descriptions of Lois's trials is so addictive that it comes as a shock when it ends on a cliff. There is another book forthcoming, ironically called Smoke, and I can hardly wait to learn how she makes out naked in the clutches of the monstrous Alain Dumortier. If you want to read a book that keeps thrilling you with sexual writing in scene after scene, this is it. But be sure you read it before the sequel comes out! Maybe there should be a third book called Fire. There is certainly enough Sparks and Smoke to set one off!

This book was actually one prolonged scene or training. We don’t get to know much about main characters, but we know she is training for undercover operation that includes slaves and intense bdsm. The idea is good and the trainer is intense, dominating, hot and dangerous. I would like more of a connection between them but I guess that wasn’t the point. I do hope we will get to know more about them so I am definitely reading the next one too.

I am a fan of Ms Mandara’s and can’t get enough of her books. Her latest book “Spark”, didn’t disappoint.
How appropriate is that title?
Sparks veritably flew from the pages of my kindle, as I read her latest offering.
It kept me up until the wee small hours, as I simply couldn’t put it down. With a feisty, troubled heroine, and an unpredictable turn of events around each corner. This is a thrilling read

Wow! This was one hot, dark and intense story!! Lois has had a tough time of things lately, and needs to get back to work. Unfortunately, her next job requires her to be a submissive, something she has no idea how to be! That's how she meets James, whose job it is to prepare her and show her what she's getting into. The sparks really fly between these two, that's for sure!
This was a hot, sexy story, and I can't wait to read the next one!

This is the first in a series and my first introduction to this author. There were many aspects of this story that I liked such as the cat and mouse mental game that is going on between the main characters. However, there is somewhat of a disconnect for me between them at the same time. I want to understand more and am hoping that it comes in the future books. I hope more of the reasons why and the backstory comes out as well. Especially, Lois because there is just something there that I want to uncover.

That being said, the story still piqued my interest and I will continue on even more to find out what she is up against and the reasons why.

C P Mandara writes some very intense, very kinky, and very hot stuff. This absolutely fits in that category. I mean oh holy heck, I'm pretty sure there were actual flames coming off my Kindle at more than one point. I really can't wait to see what happens next.

When I started reading Sparks I was a little confused but the more I read the more I couldn't put it down.
The scene are smoking hot!!!
