Two-time Reader's Favorite Five Star Read (Bronze Medal Finalist)
I only read Julie Hall’s Stealing Embers and already excited about what seems like a new series!
Steel was an interesting MC and LOVED Emberly’s spunk. I totally can’t wait to read about both of them again! I know the world building alone was totally captivating.
Review for Heather Renee’s Short Scene - Defensive Magic Gone Wrong
Man this short story really tickled my funny bone and has only made me want to read Shadow Veil Academy even more then I did before. This was just a glimpse into the world and I’m sooo very intrigued. The characters promise to be amusing and well thought out and I have a feeling I’m going to love it very much.
Anywho not much more to say then that it amused me and actually made me think of one of my friends and myself together lol. So I found it even more entertaining 😆
First of all... I'm totally in love with that name!! This was one super paced chapter! Steel is really something! Half the time I'm not sure if I liked him and then during the last half, I'm like... oh! I do think he's going to be soooooo much fun! I cannot wait to read more about Steel and Emberly!! They seem to be linked together and I cannot wait to see sparks take flight! Julie Hall is one of my favorite authors!! This was just so entertaining and delightfully addictive 💕💕💕
Review for Shadow Veil Academy: Defensive Magic Gone Wrong by Heather Renee
This was one hilarious and also heartfelt short story!! Rae and Gemma face a spell gone awry and at first it's a very funny event. But as Gemma starts to become uncomfortable, it's up to Reagan to help her bestie. When magic is involved, you never know what may happen!! We also see Enzo enter the story 😘 I absolutely love this world that Ms. Renee has built! Shadow Veil Academy may just be your next favorite place! Heather Renee shows such comedic skill in this and she's one of my favorite authors, so seeing this side come out to play was just pure awesomeness 💗💗💗💗
Review for The Hunter’s Promise by Juliana Haygert
This was so cool!! If you've read the first book to this series, then this is sure to grab your attention! Martha is so at odds to how we're introduced to her in the first book. I loved getting into her perspective! This glimpse makes you understand the hidden events in The Demon Kiss. Juliana Haygert is so imaginative!!! Her books are filled with creativity and action which makes her a reader favorite 💖💖💖
I just love box sets. This one has so many great authors in it that I just had to get it. Each book gives you just a little tease of their books that you turn the page and realize that that's it, no more. Now I have so many more books on my list to read. I enjoyed each and every book that I read from here. I can't wait to read the next book from all of them
Year 2 brings more action packed shorts that have really peaked my curiosity to find out more. Some felt more like sneak peaks rather than a short story. Needless to say, these anthologies truly bring value to your pocketbook when looking for exposure to different writing styles with a common theme. This is perfect for those busy days when you need a reading option that allows you to read in bursts! A great find! All my reviews are always voluntarily written.
Stealing Embers by Julie Hall This story was so good! Why did it have to end? I want more! Steel came across as a bit of a jerk, but a likable one, nonetheless, lol. I definitely want to get to know him better and figure out what's going on with Emberly. I'm so intrigued and beyond ready for the full-length series!
One or two of the stories continued on from Magic Academy Year One, but then there were new tales which gripped me as I was reading but as I turned the pages of a story, it had suddenly finished but not actually ended, I knew the books were about short stories, but I did think they would come to a conclusion. Having said all that, IO did enjoy what I read and the story lines were very good.
Read imogen and jonah's story: they have found the secret passageway in the anichi dorms!! They found a elepee and treated his injury. The elepee got away but thats okay for the glitter gang only finds the creatures and helps them. They are just amazing, fantastic, hilarious and sass queens!!
To read all these books! These little snippets weren’t enough! I need more! Honestly all the stories sound super interesting and I can’t wait to delve into them more.
Some very good snippets of what to expect in full. The whole family of fantasy creatures are visited, mixing them together as part of a whole story rather than individually. I was especially taken by the last story.
The collection of short stories provides an easy read. The stories don't combine to bring a singular image even though each is presumed to fall under the category of magic school 2nd year.
