I’ve never been the normal girl. No matter how much I wanted to pretend I was. I know why my mom moved us around every three months and acted like we were on the most-wanted list. We’ve been running from the man that should have protected us, a man that decided he wanted my mother to himself and all the power that came with her. A man that is probably my father. Keeping me a secret from the Infinity community can’t last much longer. I’ve already bonded with half of my Infinity. Our lives are changing, my powers are growing as is my acceptance of who I really am. Though nothing is ever simple. One of our group is reluctant to take his place beside me. I don’t know why he’s pushing me away, but I won’t be kept in the dark anymore. Not form my Infinity, not from anyone.
Albany lives in Michigan where she's happily married to her high school sweetheart. She spends most of her time juggling her four children's extracurricular activities, with her nose stuck in a book. When not reading you can find her writing her very own book boyfriends. Albany's passion is writing romance with real characters that are far from perfect, but always seem to find their own happily ever afters.
... HOnestly, I just don't know if I can listen to the 4th book. This one was even stupider than the first 2. But it's a nice mediocre, droning-on, vague soap opera. I mean I've just finished the 3rd book of 4, (so almost 1000 pages) and I still don't know why they have the powers that they do. What is the purpose of these powers? What's the purpose of multiple male partners? What are the powers of their parents? ...and what have they done with their powers? Why have 4 guys when she only seems to have chemistry with 2? What are the other 3 guys planning to study in college? Are they going to college? Is she going to college? How did her mother find her? Why was her mother sick before? But we finally find out what Ares does for a living (sort of)...
I feel just as much in the dark as I did in the first book. And that is just frickin annoying!
But in the last 30 min of the audio book the author shakes it up a bit. And instead of making the story more interesting, this actually annoyed me even more. Like 'Oh so now you are going to add a plot?!'
I think the story is going too slow which is resulting in getting boring. A 2 page description on house furnituring and general layout is too much. It doesn’t get to the point. The writer is stalling which generates a lot of non-important issues too rise. Until the last page, the story gets just a bit interesting but doesn’t save the rest
Wow that's quite a surprise at the end. I wasn't expecting their ceremony to end in such an exciting way. They are pretty much having a wedding. It's very different than anything that I would imagine for a ceremony. It's more so a celebration of them finding each other.
I think this was the most sensual part of the series so far. Laura is figuring out how to connect with all of the guys, but Milo is being the most difficult. It's really sweet how they are all growing together. There are still issues with other women in the picture and I miss seeing interactions at choose, but I'm very interested in the characters and how they are handling problems together.
Book Three continues the exploration of Laura’s extraordinary life. The narrative delves into the heart of her past, revealing the haunting reasons behind her mother's protective instincts and why they have been moving around so much - what they’ve been running from. Laura’s growth is evident as she bonds with her Infinity, and her powers begin to flourish. However, the reluctance of one member to “accept his role” introduces a bit of conflict and drama into the group.
The dynamics of the Infinity community are fascinating, and I can’t believe there’s only one book left - how is that possible? I feel like there’s so much more to unpack and explore in this universe. I truly enjoy this series, and I fear that it won’t reach its full potential with only one more book to do it in...
I think I've hit the end of this series, the only reason I got this far was because I was listening to the audiobook instead of reading. The kids are just too young and immature to hold my interest. The end of this book finally moved the storyline forward but it's too little too late.
The first 2 books were slow, but they were not terrible, but this is the third book where absolutely nothing happens. The main character is annoying and whiney. I will not be finishing this series.
3/27/23- I love this series, but book #3 is where it takes a down-turn in the overall quality: the smooth flow and sensible (for lack of a better word) writing. WAY too much time is spent detailing how they set up the new house and deciding what needs to be done. Too much detail is given with ordering food, as well. If it's once or twice that the meals are so detailed, that's fine, but every time they went out to eat, all of their orders were written out unnecessarily.
And the situation with Mia kind of dropped dead here. The angst involving her was great in the two previous books, but it fizzled pretty fast as soon as she moved out (which was also very unsatisfying). After reading this series twice already, I know the next book will have some great angsty discussion about her, but I really wish it had been more consistent here. She went from being a thorn in Laura's side that Ares did nothing about, to being some other vague-but-less-bothersome metaphor that Ares still did nothing about. You'd think with how intense he is with Laura and wanting her happy, he'd have put his fucking foot down and sent Mia away long before she caused any turmoil for Laura.
***Edit: Ok, so I was wrong. I remembered incorrectly because there is no discussion whatsoever about Mia and no closure at all regarding her. I just finished book #4 and now I'm even more disappointed. What a fucking flop this turned out to be. I don't think I'll re-read books 3 and 4 in the future. (3/28/23)
Honestly I am surprisingly invested in this series despite the fact that it is reeeaaaaalllyyy dragging. I can't figure out why I can't walk away from this. Maybe its the chemistry between the characters? It is great with at least a couple of them. The FMC despite her newly acquired powers is still on the meek side which is kind of infuriating to me. I so want her to live up to this bad A standard I have set for her. For the most part we are still dealing with the same things now as we were in book one with the relationships with the guys.. He likes me.. He doesn't like me.. However, in this installment in the series we are finally starting to get some answers as well as finding missing persons.. well I wouldn't say "finding" exactly because it seems everything takes a back burner to the supernatural wedding? plans..
I'm going to give this series one more shot I think.. I 'm not sure I can walk away yet but I just really want some things to pick up.. 3 books of working on the relationships with the guys should be enough now lets get to some nitty gritty.. One more chance!
I cant even tell you what happened in the last three books because literally NOTHING has. I keep reading hoping something will hapenpen outside of, she went to school went to work went home with the guys and went to bed. Throw in a couple of stolen kisses and that is the series. I love the characters. (The ones that actually get any time alone with her, aka Ares and occasionally Dante) but you hardley get to know them at all. And dont even get me started on Millow and Ollie. They always talk about how Ollie is a jokester and how they had an instant connection but there hardly is any interaction between them that even makes it feel that way. Even when thr author took away Dante and Ares the main character spent maybe a day with the others and couldn't handle it and it went right back to Ares Ares Ares. Its book THREE people and he is the only one who she talks about in the books.
I get that this is supposed to be a paranormal romance but it's like the paranormal part is an afterthought, barely anything happens to advance that story line in any of the books. It's mostly used as a means to explain the need for a reverse harem relationship as if genre readers need a reason for a reverse harem to exist. We don't, the readership accepts this type of relationship exists in the same way any other does. So the lack of advancement in that part of the plot and that fact that it only seems to exist to create a reason for the relationship really bugs me. It took three books for Walker to actually introduce the villain who hasn't done anything bad since before the main character was born. That is until they finally introduce him and even then it was barely a thing. Most of the series has been sleeping, eating, and shopping while occasionally introducing jealous females who aren't appropriately dealt with. Sorry but if my spouse subjected me to Mia or Delaney with the way they behave I'd get a divorce. I get that the girls behavior isn't their fault, but consistently creating situations for it to occur like it's no big deal is their fault. It shows they have little respect for Laura and enjoy the altercations in order to feed their egos. Two members of the harem are kind of their own thing and barely interact with Laura outside of friendship and the whole group lacks balance. It's like she's dating Ares and sometimes messes around with his friend rather than an actual reverse harem. Additionally the editing both for typos and content needs serious work. Between books one and two the campground owner changed his name from Mike to Mark. Dante has been both a lion and a tiger in the three books and I want to say was once referred to as a panther. That's just a couple examples. Not much actually happens in each installment to drive the plot forward. The story has potential but it's not living up to that potential.
It was OKAY. Slightly better than the last. They still haven't dealt with Mia. And there are other lose ends. Like Charlie and Delaney. Why are the guys threatened by charlie? Do we ever get a reason? Leon....meh Milo...pussy Dante...feral...love it. Ares...live.him. Ollie... Sweet but still want to kill his golden retriever energy. Laura....whimp.
I feel like these reviews are getting less and less organized as I go through this series. Possibly because I find myself caring less and less about what's happening (because nothing fucking is until the last 2% of the stupid book).
So this time I'm just gonna leave you with a list of my thoughts a I read through this.
1. Interesting that in Chapter 1 of book 3 Laura admits that she has been neglecting Milo and Ollie--just like I said in my review of book 2. At least she (or perhaps the author?) is self-aware.
2. Apparently these families run by different rules than the rest of American society. A "legal adult" in this weird poli-power-cult is 16, not 18. I'd like to know how that works legally. Because despite them being in weird relationships they're still living in the United States. I'm assuming that means they still pay taxes, and have to abide by US laws. How has nobody figured out that Laura has just moved in with a house full of boys, only ONE of which is a legal adult? How does that dynamic work, seeing as the boys all have their own parents who don't live with them. Like what's the story they give their school? How have the police not been called for a wellness check or whatever?
And what about Laura's mobile home? The landlord has seemed more and more suspicious of her and her mother and the guys loitering around for the past 2 books, but in this one nobody's even thought twice about the trailer park or about the dude who runs it. Why hasn't he called the cops yet? There just seems like so much is missing from this story from a world building standpoint.
If you're going to make up arbitrary rules and put a 'family' together consisting of 80% minors, put them in a country where it makes sense legally.
3. We FINALLY see Laura begin to train with the power that arcs between her and the guys. I guess it's about time. Her abilities are still somewhat vague, and we don't really know why they have these powers or what they use them for, but at least we're not outright ignoring this aspect of the story anymore. Hooray progress.
4. The MM part of this MMFM scenario is back in play, finally. There was some speculation in book 1 that Milo and Ollie might be together together, but in book 2 there was NOTHING of the sort to suggest they were anything more than friends. Ollie's been heavily flirting with Laura. I guess the author finally remembered she'd intended to make a gay(ish) couple out of a pair of the boys. Nothing happens other than a couple make-out sessions, but still. Milo does confess to loving Ollie--and in the same breath, admits he DOESN'T love Laura. "That doesn't mean I don't care about you!" yeah, okay bud.
At this point I'm just wondering why Milo exists in this group. We're 3/4s the way through this whole series and he hasn't even gotten CLOSE to bonding with Laura yet.
5. The sex between Laura and Ares is so fucking awkward. I almost died of second-hand embarrassment. I've never hated virgin sex more. I hate that it took like 4 long-ass chapters of weird awkward blurted questions only for Laura to have the most painful first time I've ever read. I really don't wanna read about a girl being in so much pain she's crying and the dude just dribbling apologies as he fucks her. It's so goddamned uncomfortable.
And let's not forget that Ares is in his twenties and Laura's still a minor. There's at LEAST 6 years between them. I'm still having an awkward time controlling the ick I got seeing them together. And of course it figures that Ares is the clear front-runner and Laura's favorite of the 4 young men. More on this later.
6. It's wild that there's virtually NO searching for Laura's mom in this book. Sure Dante and Ares fly to Idaho to do some talking to Leon's family, but literally nothing comes of that. I wish we'd gotten a multi-POV book where we followed Dante/Ares in their negotiations or whatever. It would have helped us get a clearer view of this 'community' they exist in and the political and social machinations that go on. Instead, this trip was a convenient ploy by the author to get Laura's 2 favorite boys out of the way so she was forced to bond with Ollie and at least attempt to be friendly toward Milo, who she's still fucking neglecting.
And of course, the whole time the group's separated, all she does is fret and worry and want to call Dante/Ares. Fuck Ollie and Milo needing and craving her time and attention. 😒🙄
7. Laura ONLY tells Ares she loves him. He's also the only one she sleeps with. She's CONSTANTLY talking about how hot he is, constantly ogling his ass or his pecks or his abs. She doesn't do much of this with any of the others. The favoritism is strong with this one.
And this is what I hate most about RH stories. Inevitably, the girl has a favorite dude. I have yet to come across a book like this where the woman truly loves all her men equally. She always neglects one and favors another. And if there's any others in the mix, they fall somewhere in the middle, neither fawned over, nor ignored. It's stupid. I don't wanna feel bad for a dude because his soulmate clearly doesn't give a shit about him because she's already got so much dick to deal with she can't handle them all.
Authors need to pay more attention to this when they choose to write RH stories. It's pretty clear that the Shadow Daddy is Albany Walker's favorite (isn't he always????? SOOOO original).
8. Why does Laura have to wait until she's 18 to get a driver's license? She's American. They're in America. It's 16 here. Again, you need to understand the rules of the land you set your story in.
9. Honest to God, 40% of Laura's dialogue is just "Where's [one of the boys' names]?" It's usually Ares. She only fucking cares about Ares.
10. They spend a stupid amount of time searching for, buying, moving into, and redesigning their new house. Like, 10 chapters at least revolve around this subject alone. I've never been more bored as I was reading whole ass chapters of them buying paint and then painting a wall and then redesigning a kitchen.
11. At least the ending was interesting. Sort of sad Leon ran like a coward, though. I expected way more out of a supervillain than a "you'll be sorry!" before scurrying off. Any other book would have at least had him kidnap Laura. Maybe even leaving her mom behind to explain to the boys what happened. And again, ALL of the plot happens in the very last chapter--about 3-4 pages from the very end of the book.
Sigh. I wish I had more to say about this book, but honestly, it's the worst of the bunch yet. I'm miffed at the Ares-favoritism, miffed that there's ZERO plot, STILL, 3 books into a 4 book series, miffed that we wasted so much time on stupid boring shit like a fancy dinner and a home-reno.
But if I've gotten this far, I guess I might as well finish the series.
Although now that I'm 75% of the way through this whole story, I think I can confidently say that this is virtually the exact same story as the Broken Bonds (by J. Bree) series. The stories are eerily similar. Like if I were Walker, I'd consider a lawsuit similar. I'd say Walker copied Bree, but Walker DID get to this story-line first. By about 2 years. So perhaps Bree read this series and thought she could improve on it. And in some ways, she did--and I actually sort of hated that series too, lol.
This started off nice and strong, but it seemed to lose direction and look for filler near the end.
The guys continue to make a mess of things, and I continue to enjoy it. This scene in which the MC loses her virginity was really well done in that it didn't read like smut. It was cute and awkward and involved a lot more than the actual sex. The guy allowed the MC to be curious about things, and the author let her be vocal about her curiosity instead of shy and ashamed. The whole thing really rang true as an actual bonding moment between the characters and not just an opportunity for orgasms.
I had a few minor complaints though.
• At one point, the MC talks about her first impressions of the guys, and I was SO disappointed that she didn't tell him that she initially thought he was a girl.
• The writing continues to have typos, writing errors, and inconsistencies, like when the author calls Dante a lion instead of a tiger.
• This book had waaaay too much fooling around in a movie theater for me. I love a good exhibitionist scene, but this just made me uncomfortable.
And then I had some major complaints. The last several chapters just felt like pointless filler. We got an extended scene that was nothing but the characters discussing how they want to renovate their new house. With no input from the MC btw, so I'm hoping that may become relevant later. And then we got another extended scene that was just everyone walking to a restaurant and ordering lunch. Domestic scenes are nice and all, but these just seemed to drag on forever for no reason.
I hope the author gets back on track in the next book.
Need book four ASAP I can’t put this series down... I adore Laura’s character. Things are moving along and heating up. It’s all very exciting with another twist and a cliff hanger...
So while I enjoy getting to know the guys with Laura we don’t really get more into their Infinity. We don’t get to see Laura work on her abilities too much. She was going to do it and they did it for a bit but then the book shifted. It shifted to playing house! I truly do not understand the purpose of those many chapters of them putting a house together. I don’t understand how it furthered the plot. We didn’t learn more about Infinities from it, we didn’t learn anything more about their relationship. Sure they are coming together and bonding more but that doesn’t make a story. We see Ares looking for her mom and taking Dante with him but we don’t get to see that part of the investigation. We learn about Leon and who he is and that he might be alive, but we don’t prepare or work on her abilities more, securing her more and they didn’t think that if Leon was still alive he wouldn’t just show up there? Especially if he’s a true villain. It was almost like that whole part of the plot, mom missing, never knowing her true self, was an after thought. Sure it tied together but was pretty obvious especially when Laura just had to go off on her own.
Despite all of this I still enjoy the relationships in the book. I just don’t like the overall story arc plot bc it’s moving like molasses.
Really enjoyed this series, loved the characters and the world created! Hoping there are spin off series of more Synergists finding their pairs! It’s been great following Laura’s development, not just in her relationships but as a person too. I had hoped for more drama with Leon, perhaps some answers and a little more action as the build up led up to a point that could be explosive and it was left a little lacking. I am hooked on Ares and Dante 😍 can I please have them? I did want to see more of a connection with Ollie and Milo, it did feel like they played a little of backseat role romantically with Laura but I understand it’s not easy having an equal share for each character to be represented in a RH.
I’m not sure how to rate this. I did not dislike it and I thought the characters were good. I think I got lost in the story and when I got to the last page I was confused that it was over. The is a good progression to the series. I like how they are coming together. This was a in between book with more character development.
Infinity book 3 finds us watching Laura struggle to learn to control her abilities from her infinity. She is also struggling with understanding what her role is in this community while worrying about her mom's disappearance.
You can completely skip this book and not miss a thing in the series. It was completely filled with fluff. Nothing of substance whatsoever. I want my time back. As a fellow reviewer said: pout over needing own space, buy a house, pack, move out of parents house, paint, kiss, frown over misunderstandings, eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, then cuddle. If I wanted to read about reality, I wouldn’t have picked a paranormal book. “Friends with the Monsters” is a much better read by this author.
I LOVE the way Dante’s power affects her! That scene when she claims him was definitely H.O.T. Hot hot hot!!!!! I loved it!!
I’m over this conflict with Milo, I get it....but I’m over it.
Also over Mia...I felt for her but now I’m just like....get over it or get out!
Can’t wait for the next book in the series...when is that?
Mild editing errors which I know I make myself but find really distracting when I’m questioning my knowledge as the reader, and the credibility of the narrator (in this case the MC)

This series has been great and this book we finally get to some intimate moments for our girl, but we spend WAY too Kuch time describing clothes and revocation plans for the house and just every day mundane things that haven’t been shown to have any real impact on the plot. I honestly started skimming and I hardly ever do that in a fiction book. Hopefully now that the big baddie has been introduced we can enjoy the last book with a little less fluff
"This never-ending pull that makes me want to carve a hole in my chest so I can carry you there." book 1 pg. 173
"Men often make more of a mess of something that could have been easily solved if they would get out of their own way. So often they thing they're protecting us from things we don't need protecting from." book 3 pg. 34

***Some Spoilers Ahead***
I wanted to love this series. The way the magic is set up in this world is extremely similar to Variant Lost series which is one of my all time favorite series so I was excited where it was finally being described. But it was seriously lacking in giving me that magical world. Most of the series was the main characters eating or shopping. There was almost an entire books worth of them buying a house, and renovating/shopping for it. It was just a lot of unnecessary fluff.
Meanwhile there was all this power and magic that was hardly ever used. The only really conflict/drama was other women involved in the MMC's lives, and then it didn't really feel like those issues were fully resolved at the end so I was just left wanting. When there was finally a villain involved it was 20% of book four right in the middle of the book and was resolved literally within the snap of a finger.
I wanted to love the FMC so much but every time there was an argument between her and the MMCs she was such a pushover. She would make such a huge deal about being upset, and then when the confrontation she took all the blame and forgave them as if they did nothing. It made the relationships seem so toxic, even though she was the one making it toxic for herself.
Relationships wise it was literally the Ares show. Which is actually what got me through the series because he was the only one that didn't act like a complete idiot and he was my favorite. But Dante seemed to come second, and Ollie and Milo barely even had a relationship with Laura.
In the second book, Maggie has a vision and gives a warning to Laura that I was convinced would put Mia on the chopping block for good. But literally nothing came of it and it was never mentioned again, which was just like... weird. Maybe I missed something? But I don't know. I was still waiting for the meaning to come to light by the end of book four.
Like I said, I wanted to love this book. But I felt like it would have done better without any magic involved. Just make it a regular reverse harem. It almost seemed like the magic was an after-thought other than making them mates.
Couldn’t finish the series. Maybe I’ll go back and read the 4th later just to finish it. There’s conflicting information like Dante in book 2 turns into a tiger (I went back and checked) but in this book one part she calls him a lion and then later a tiger. Which one is it?! I’ve noticed the more into the series it goes the more it’s like a 19 year old who just graduated HS wrote it. It had so much promise, but lord it drags on. You ever asked an kid in elementary school what they Did and they tell you EVERY detail “Well I got in The bus and sat next to Susie but Susie was sad bc xyz, and then we got to school I walked down 4 steps to get off the bus and then…”? This book is very similar to that. Do I need to hear about the different leaves in the salad and how the dressing tasted? Nope sure didn’t. Do I need to know what shoe size and style she prefers? Nope I don’t. It’s not necessary for the story. I mean I do like details to help be able to picture the story in my head, but come on. I spent most of it skimming through to avoid all the unnecessary bits. Frankly I’m surprised she doesn’t tell us what deodorant the Laura uses and how many swipes she uses for each underarm.
ALSO, don’t get me started on Mia. Why are the men only gently checking her? They claim to love and will always protect Laura but they let some hussy just walk all over her and just gently checks Mia. I’m not asking them to scorch the earth for her when Mia is on a roll but telling her jealousy doesn’t look good on her while still having her on the payroll and getting her to do errands like schedule house tours? Come on dudes yall need to bounce her like a bad check. AND Ares calling sweet talking her into doing her job?! I got mad at that part. Like head out of behind and then do what needs to be done. None of this “I’ll always do what I need too to protect you!” trash. She needs you to tell Mia pack your bags and go to Motel 6 they left the light on for her. Instead Mia wants to act like the cat shifter and take swipes at Laura. You can’t claim to be an alpha and/or protector, but let your SO get verbally abused by a jealous woman you used to treat like a toy when you were in between girlfriends. The whole “it doesn’t matter what I did in the past I have you now.” While letting the girl you used throw that into Laura’s face is getting old real quick. Who cares if Mia has been loyal and worked for you for years? She’s literally disrespecting your “love” while you make excuses for Mia. 3 books we’ve had to hear Mia be a jealous cow and yall doing absolutely nothing.
I hate not finishing a series to see how it ends but I just can’t. I had to force myself to read it to the end ONLY for a good cliffhanger, but I can’t even finish the series to see how it ends. Again, I might finish it at a later date but as of right now I can’t.
