I am so happy that this manga is continuing in English. I have been reading / buying their manga faithfully since I watched the anime.
Yes, I am the type of person who likes to read the manga and watch the anime. Sometimes an anime will turn me to the manga because I "have" to know what happens next for characters I have connected with.
Yogi is just one of those characters. There is just something about him that makes me like him. He's like a big kid at heart. Also, there is a mysterious air about him. Well, in this volume we learn about Yogi's history. Why the Silver Yogi exists. Yogi not only finds the key to his past, but who he is, and something important to him.

This omnibus definitely spun things back around for Mikanagi. I really liked how she focused on Yogi's backstory, and we finally figured out where Silver Yogi comes from. Yogi has so much more emotional depth than what he started the series with. I'm really happy we got to see this growth and learn more about Mieuxmarie, his sister (who is actually alive). There was even some more stuff with the white birds like I wanted!

The long awaited (over a year) Karnival vol 9 by Touya Mikanagi! It's one of my favorite mangas. The volumns are large and thick - omnibus collections of the translated Japanese editions. The story is unique, weird, charming, fun and serious, light and dark, and well-balanced. Yogi is my favorite character and this volume centers on him and his past. If you're already into this series, you won't be disappointed. This volume is more serious than usual, but it reveals so much about Yogi, his alternate self, and how he came to circus that the usual goofiness might have been out of place. It's actually a pretty sad volume. ಥ_ಥ But I love Yogi and all the others. I love this series!

Woohoo! I finally caught up to those that I haven't read yet! Anyway, this was a really, really good volume for me. I wasn't sure I was going to be too happy because I'm like 'who are these people and why are we getting her creepy backstory?' - And then it all became clear and ... I just want to hug everyone. (And Gareki being all 'I totally don't care, nope, not at all. Why do you think I do? I don't!' was so, so good.)

Another solid addition to the series. I'll admit, it took me a while to get back into this, since it had been a while since I'd read the last one, but it was good. Beautiful art and fun characters as always. Excited to see what happens next and hope to see more Gareki and Nai again next time.

2.5 stars. The narrative was a lot tighter here than it's been recently, but there's something about it that still makes it a bit of a slog to read. Maybe it's thatthe recent plot-messiness has broken any rust I had in the series; or maybe it wouldn't feel as much a slog if it weren't an omnibus.

Is Silver Yogi gone? I was starting to like him.
Will she rebuild her kingdom? Because I just don't feel like Yogi will go back as a king/prince but I can see her becoming a queen.

Omigosh, finally! I have waited SO LONG for this (the last omnibus was published in 2017)! I love this series and am so glad this next installment was finally released in English. I love the style of Mikanagi's art, and her characters emotions are deep and complex. PLEASE KEEP MAKING KARNEVAL!
