The Afflicted Zodiac #3

Total Lunar Eclipse

Rate this book
Venus the Genius is back! Her mission: To kill Moon or bust.

I’m your Venus. . .

I'm your fire. . .

Wait, fire?

That’s code for help!

Hold on, Trust Tree Sisters, I’m coming (and not in the sexy way).

Better yet, I’ll send Super Blue because I’m elbow deep in some sh*t.

Not actual sh*t, but close enough. . .

Because with each passing second, Lina (a.k.a petty see you next Tuesday cushion) accumulates more power.

And she’s not playing to win anymore. . .

She’s playing to kill. . . and not just me, but all my man-gods.

Funny how love sneaks up and tears your heart right of your chest, but I would die for these men.

And if I’m not careful, they might just die for me.

Now I’m in a race against time to reach my man-gods and break a curse before all hell breaks loose on Earth. . . and I lose them all.

I’m going to need help from every dimension. . . I might even need to call upon ol’ Blue again.

Trust Tree Sisters, take arms.

The time has come; we have a B-hole to catch.

Let’s just hope we get to her before the Total Lunar Eclipse.

Total Lunar Eclipse is book three and the final book in the Afflicted Zodiac Series. (Virgo Rising- book one and Retrograde- book two)

I was pretty happy with this book and the end to this trilogy. I felt so many different emotions while reading this and I’m sad that it’s over. I’m going to miss Zahra and her unbelievably crazy life as well as her hilarious antics. I’m going to miss the guys as well. I have come to love each and every one of them individually and as a group. I am definitely going to miss their banter with Zahra and their story. Hopefully this author will come out with a spin-off or something similar in the future. A girl can hope! Trust Tree Sisters forever!!!

Book 1 Review:
This is written like someone made a novel out of their Twitter postings, sounds annoying but I actually enjoyed it. Zarah, our FMC, is a bit looney tunes and her mind is not a sensible place which can be irritating but also entertaining.

All the Astrology lessons were lost on me though. I didn't understand half of what was explained in the book, but not for lack of interest. The theme is unique and makes me want to better understand my own Natal Chart.

However, the plot felt somewhat predictable so far but I'm intrigued and enjoying reading this series so far and will continue on to book 2.

Books 2 & 3 Review:
Book Warning: High Probability of Accidental Anal Fisting!
That may very well be the most ridiculously childish nonsense I have ever read, and I Loved It!!!
I seriously couldn't stop cracking up when she visited the "fauna" realm, I can't remember the last time I laughed so much.

This series is like what I would imagine the "ghost" bestie from the All the Pretty Monsters series (what was her name!? Anna?) would be like if she was the main character of her own story with an astrology theme (actually I think that's what The Dark Side series was supposed to be, just replace astrology with hell spawn), that's how nutty the FMC in this series was.

I did have some issues trying to remember all the different names/bodies/realms attached to each of her eight, yes count them Eight!!!, guys. Thankfully there is a glossary in the back of books 2 and 3 that can help you keep track of all the nonsense, and you will need to use it!

The narration style is different, the author uses a multiple POV style but when reading the FMC's POV chapters she addresses the reader/readers as "Trust Tree Sisters" inside her head. The first book took a bit of getting used to. It's like reading someone's continuous Twitter feed as if the FMC is messaging you non-stop about her life but doesn't actually expect a response. But the more I read the more I enjoyed it.

If you're looking for an epic fantasy with realistic issues and serious trials to overcome then this is NOT the book for you! But if you want some seriously crazy (with slightly childish musings) epic urban fluff fantasy with nonsense challenges that will make you laugh but is also intriguing then fall ass over tits (that's ass-backward for the vaginally challenged) into this series.
Have Fun!

An insane ending for a ridiculous story. Zahra keeps hunting the dimensions for the planetary gods, traumatising Mars in the process and creating anything with a single thought. Things got very strange. On the other side, the guys are playing self sacrifice and trying to soul bond with their Venus.

Plenty of sex, sex on the brain, very weird creations. Thoughts about ninja pegging. A lot of thoughts about ninja pegging, the guys and Lina. I thought the blue dildo superhero was gonna be the strangest thing but nope.

The guys were sweet and I’m pretty sure she broke Saturn with the clitasaurus rex (not what it’s called) and the unicorn with a penis horn.

Then it gets weird. Weirder. Hogwarts references, new guys Zahra can’t keep and everyone pretty much dying with their essences either in Lina or Venus. I’m still trying to process how she defeated Lina.

Sweet rounded ending involving crayons and an epilogue that explains a lot. It was a strange and wacky trilogy and I’m looking forward to Lilith’s story.

As they say, I can’t even...

It’s done. The worlds are saved (but are they)? Trust tree sisters, we followed our Venus to the ends of the universe and found... some seriously strange and disturbing images. And a 2+2+2+2-some. And a love to span the fabric of time. Gah, while I am sad this is over I am also hoping there is more from MJ like this! Like a god hog warts. A godwarts. Wait... that’s weird. And gross. But maybe moon is the the hoary headmaster! Hoary Warty as the new little godpricks call her. I digress....

A fabulous cumulation, I mean CULmination to the story. The laughs, the ugly cries and feels included. So happy to have found this author and her books. Onward!

First two books? Good..great even. This book? Not so much. It just tries way too hard to be funny. It's all over the place and over the top while trying to be humorous and sexy. The formatting was off a lot in this book too. Sometimes I would go 4 pages where it would be normal and then I would have giant gaps between the lines.
Just the same jokes used over and over again in this book and then you now have sex scenes just thrown in randomly. Lives in danger? Limited amount of time? Let's have a threesome. So many times this happens.
Like I said, this book was a little much for me. If there are more in this series I'm gonna pass

Ok so I’ll give a 3... but Not because I overly loved the book

I’ve given others 3stars that I liked better.

But my reasons:

1. I didn’t like the breaking of the fourth wall. It might not have bothered me so much except it happened pretty often and the comments she makes to her readers are pretty ridiculous at times. Just didn’t gel with me.

2. All of her thoughts! She gets SO chaotic and distracted! Way more than in the first book and I don’t know why she gets so much more ridiculous than before. I didn’t think the jokes were funny and they were way overused and every single one dealt with sex and it got to the point (even in book 2) where she just irritated me so much. She goes out of her way to say stupid shit and I started to really dislike her character.

3. All the guys just kind of fell in love with her and I don’t really believe it. Why? Just because she’s the key to the curse being broken? Because that’s what it seems like. I knew some of them were fond of her in book 1 but still can’t quite see the love.

4. I didn’t really feel the danger in this book. Sun dies and so does Kane and she feels like a sliver of grief and moves on. They have sex all - the - time. In the middle of a time crunch and not knowing where moon is all the time or what’s happening on the other dimensions or who might need help. Kind of felt like nobody cared. I understand wanting to throw in some steam, but at every turn?

If it was just this, I would have given it fewer stars, because zahra irritated me just that much. The reason I gave it 3 is because there were 8 men and I understood their personalities and could clearly differentiate them, which is hard to do.

I feel as though that deserves that extra star, because they were pretty consistent and present in the page, which isn’t always the case even with fewer men in other books.

Also, the zodiac theme with all its nuances and how they reason things out is pretty creative and clever.

Over-the-top but still fun

Although I did ultimately enjoy this series, I'm glad it's over. Zahra is exhausting and the guys are very one dimensional. The near constant sex drove me nuts in this book. I hated the way they would just stop everything to have sex. In the middle of trying to save your mates lives in not the time to get it on. Also, the humor was so over done. If I read one more time about ninja sex, I was seriously going to throw my kindle. You can't reuse the same joke over and over and expect it to still be funny. I doubt I'll read the spin off series, but maybe I'll change my mind after I've been away from this series for a bit.

3.5 🌟

This series started off strong but I was a bit let down by the ending. The epilogue redeemed it somewhat for me. Like the second, I think this book was too rushed, there was too much action packed in with a bare minimum of relationship building. With such a large harem it is difficult to keep from having characters get lost in the shuffle. That’s where this book lost me. The plot line was great, the writing hilarious and superb, but overall there was a lack of character growth and interaction.

I can’t believe it’s over!!

So I thought the last book brought tears to my eyes, but this one? Please don’t read it while waiting on a flight at the airport. People will think you’re nuts when you’re sitting there laughing your butt off one minute then bawling the next. So much selflessness. Everyone over here left and right doing the right thing will always bring on the waterworks. LOVED loved loved it.

Christ almighty. If I hadn't already read the first two of this series, I absolutely never would've read this. I thought maybe it would get better in the end, and it somehow only got worse. I hated most of this book. That said, it does move at a pretty quick clip, so it's not hard to get through. It still feels as though it's a 14 year old's stream of consciousness, and the running joke of her making up her own bizarre curse words only gets less funny every time she does this.

I'm really disappointed in this series, because the general concept is actually really interesting. I like the idea of the personification of different planets of the zodiac, and I really like the connecting factor of astrology between.

I also really like the idea of the representation of Venus, and how she unites the rest of them. All of that has incredible potential. And then it gets ruined by the narrative of the FMC. It's just too quirky and childish for me.

Last, but not least, I remember in my review of the first one, acknowledging that there were individual moments that were well done when it comes to the sexual relationships in this book. All of that goes down the drain in this one.

There's not a single moment that feels sexy, and the reason for that is that every time there's a sex scene in the book, the FMC is thinking about nonsense, and babbling whatever she's thinking about and really ruining the moment. It's bad enough that as I was reading it, I was wondering if the author themself really finds this interaction sexy, or are they intentionally writing the most uncomfortable sex scenes? I truly don't know.

Either way, I regret reading these, and I wish someone else would take this premise and write this story for adults, as it's meant to be written.

I will forever be a Trust Tree Sister ❤️ I am so sad to be finished reading this series. The beginning started off slow, but as the trilogy progressed I was completely sucked into the characters and their stories. I absolutely love each character especially Zahra with her silly antics. I loved how this trilogy left no loose ends and the end was just perfection. I am excited to read more from this author.

All I'm saying is a giant blue vibrator with arms and a red Cape, oh, and also ninja pegging. I don't think I've laughed so much with this series. It's definitely not what I was expecting when I started this series, but it's definitely worth it. Considering an fmc in another book was reading this book.

So, finally we are finished. I have to say, I am happy with this ending. Actually, I'm happy with the whole series. During reading, I got the entire spectrum of emotions. Mostly I laughed. Zahra is and remains hilarious with her personality and antics. She is crazy, but in a good way. And I loved her group of men as well. Each of them individually and their dynamic in the group. One of the best things was how they banter with each other.

So, on the one hand, it's sad that it is now over, and on the other hand I'm glad they have there happily ever after and just be.

I have read different series of M.J. Marstens, and she never disappoints me. And she has other funny series, too. So, I think I will find something else, that console me.

And there is a spin-off for Lilith, when I saw it right. I will read that definitely!

This series is awesome, and hysterical, a completely entertaining read. I loved all the characters, each and every one of them had distinct personalities. I loved the dirty humor and her insane internal dialogue. I loved being a ‘trust tree sister’ and included in the story. The way the author handled this series makes it feel utterly singular. I can’t think of even one book that is even remotely similar. I really enjoyed their happily ever after too.

If I could change one thing, it would be to slow down the novel slightly and give their relationships time to grow. I felt a teenie tiny bit jipped when it came to relationship building. I also felt like I wanted more big fat orgies.

Trust tree sisters for life!

I believe this is one of the first series that I have read from this author and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! The fmc was absolutely crazy and hilarious. Her inner dialogue reminded me of some of my own rants in my head lol the guys were perfect! Some were funny and sensual while other were bloody and demanding. There was also a lot of information out in this book as well which was awesome! and let's not forget the end of the book which was dual parts hilarious and heart warming! Ugh, I could probably go on and on but suffice it to say this series is a must read!

Best one yet!

I’ve made it no secret that I adore this series. The first two books were fantastic! The humor and sexiness of them were soooo good. However, in this final installment? MJ really knocked it out of the park. I don’t remember the last time I laughed so hard while reading. The actual story ending was absolutely perfect. I honestly didn’t know how things were going to wrap up with Lina and everyone else but dang. That was better than any ending I saw coming. This really is my favorite book of the series!

Love the story

Very good story! It was a little touch and go for me for a little bit in the beginning just because there were quite a few grammatical errors. They got better as the story went and I try not to hold that against an author because I get it. It would be super difficult. I will say what has me giving the book 4/5 instead of the full 5 is that I got a little lost at one point and almost just put the book down. I won’t spoil anything because I absolutely think it’s worth the read.

A perfect ending!
What a great ending to a trilogy! My favorite endings are ones I'm not expecting, but still love - and this definitely fit the bill. In fact, the ending was even better than I could have imagined! I loved that even us trust tree sisters get a shout-out.
This book is laugh-out-loud hilarious, just like the rest of the series (maybe even more so). MJ is a genius and I'm sad to say goodbye to this universe! I'll miss Zahra's antics and all her creative cuss-words and of course her eight smexy gods.

A perfect ending!

This series wrap up went perfectly! Basically Zahra got her cake and ate it too. Everyone came together for Zahra and her men despite insurmountable odds against them. This book lived up to the hilarity from the first 2 and kept me laughing out loud. In the words of Saturn “I just can’t even...”.

Overall, this series was fantastic, beyond creative, funny, steamy, and full of action. If you want a steamy RH with plenty of uniqueness, drama, and laugh out loud moments then definitely give this series a try.

A sweet ending for the books

The big battle is over by around 75% and so I think we can call the rest an ‘epic-logue’. The ending was unexpected but by the end I was satisfied but do wish we had more of their life together in between (you’ll understand when you read it). Zahra is still a lovable klutz even with some of the darker happenings within this book. I wish we’d seen what happened with Lina and Edgar but I’m not devastated that we didn’t. I enjoyed the series but it’s not one of my favourites. It’s definitely a comedy with humour spread throughout the books.

Make up some swear words and grab the tissues...this is hilarious!

MJ has done it again. A hilarious conclusion to the series. The craziness, the humor, the love is all brought together to make some great life lessons come to life. Some great twists and turns will keep you guessing, make you a little sad and eventually bring a huge smile to your face! Trust Tree Friends for Life!

Reverse Harem Paranormal Sexmance

Zahra and her Gods have figured out how to break the curse. Can she break the curse,so she and her Gods can have a happily ever after? The final book in this series will send you to the bathroom for a cold shower. You will laugh until you cry. Zahra wit and snarkiness will grow on you. Something in this book will send you to google, especially if your a Harry potter fan. lol Make this series you next read. You won't regret it.

Perfectly crazy ending

The 3rd book and the last in this series made me laugh till I cried and binge read in one sitting. I also cringed at vividly painted scenes that even bleach won't remove from my brain. I wanted more with these characters and will happily read the Liminal Academy series in hopes to get my crazy fix.
I can't wait to see where this story takes us and hopefully we will get more of Venus and her shenanigans with her men.

Highly Entertaining!

Yes! This series is exactly what I needed. It's what I hope to find when reading a new series or new author. It was highly entertaining, smoking hot, and ridiculously funny. Zahra is going down in the books as one of my all time favorite female characters. The author found that perfect balance and I couldn't be happier or more excited to discover what else they've got out there in the book world for me to dive into.

Okay, this was a good ending to the trilogy. I'm kind of sad that it is over, though. I would have liked more time with Zahra and her harem all together.

I especially liked the epilogue as I feel the author has set up possibilities for future stories.

I enjoyed this book and this ending, but it wasn't quite as funny as the second book. That second book was just too hilarious to be topped I guess!

I will have to look into other works by this author.

OMG

This is a laugh till your sides hurt book! I'm so in love with the series and the characters! Pluto is my favorite though... I mean maybe... Jupiter was great to...but Sun was hot... I love them all! Zahra is my soul sister! She says the things I'm always thinking... And she is badass but still has a big heart and sees the good in people. All I can say is I love this series.... Thank you M.J Marsten!
