Sofia Delacruz is her name and love is her game. Despite the tragic end to her own story, she hasn't given up on happily ever after. At least, not when it comes to other people. With her best friend, Reyna, by her side, they've built a successful business helping others make their one true connection. When a new client hires them in hopes of kindling a relationship with her long-time crush, life takes an unexpected turn. Personal desires burn like bonfires and professional boundaries are pushed, putting the duo in uncharted territory. For Sofia, however, that tantalizing burn also pierces like a stake through the heart. Can she finally shake the pain of her past and heal? Or will she spend the rest of her days cursing the powers that be? S.W. Andersen delivers a heartwarming story about the healing power of opening oneself up to love after loss.
S.W.'s latest, "A Call To Justice," is the third book in the Sarah Sawyer gunslinger series.
From old west gunslingers to a love that transcends time and space, S.W. Andersen offers a variety of romantic adventures, including the best selling lesbian romances, "Love By Design," and "Switchback."
Having been raised by her mother, a strong female character in her own right, she has always been attracted to stories that depicted independent, determined, capable women. A romantic at heart, her characters are rooted in hope and perseverance.
She has spent a large part of her life around horses and rodeos and has always had an affinity for the cowgirl lifestyle. Her love of the mountains, westerns and stories involving strong female characters were the driving forces behind the Sarah Sawyer series.
3.5* Good story, good writing, good characters, but way too long. The story is nice but not exciting enough to hold my attention for so long. I once more wish there were half-stars because 4 is too much but 3 would be really unfair.
Heartwarming love story between Allie O’Leary and Sofia Delacruz, from the time they met(or almost not meet) up to the point where they say I Do. Tells us how you overcome loss, how you learn to love again and the likes.
Sofia has suffered heartache and continues to soldier on believing she can help others find their true love. With the help of her best friend Reyna they are a success but one client is about to change everything for them both. Runa is in love with her best friend’s sister Allie, and has been for years. Sofia and Reyna try to work their magic, but Allie is already taken by a beautiful stranger she met from across a crowded room. For all four of them, love takes a path they didn’t expect, and for Sofia it is a time where she has to take a chance and heal to finally love again.
This was such a touching and beautiful story about soul mates, and finding love at the most unsuspected times. Although the main focus of the story is Sofia and Allie, there is a sub plot in Reyna and Runa which added something extra, and made the drama that made this more complex that just a simple girl meets girl romance. It was an easy read though, touching on emotion and creating a wonderful connection for readers with a character who is vulnerable and thinking they won’t ever find love again in life. It held a lot of hope.
I really enjoyed the story, and loved the complexity that built up the story and plot before getting fully into the depth of Sofia’s past that affected the woman she had become, and how that was impacting on her newly developed relationship with Allie. It was a clever plot creating intertwined paths between characters and delivering a truly warming romance.
It was very slow burn, but beautifully portrayed in respecting each other, and personal vulnerability. Allie was very understanding and accepting of Sofia’s past, and that was lovely to see. Would recommend this for anyone who loves a good emotional romance.
3.7 stars. Nice romance. I liked the story of the love doctor helping clients to connect with someone they love and the complications that arose from helping Rune. I sometimes felt that the story was too slow but on the other hand that the relationship between the two mains was started and built very fast after Sofia refusing to look or hope for love again for years. These are only minor complaints. There was a very nice secondary cast of family and friends.
A heartwarming story about the healing power of love when you open yourself up to new possibilities. The story is well-written. Andersen uses words carefully to ensure we are really immersed in the story, There’s a scene towards the end of the book that made me lose it. Talk about tears. That scene? Beautiful. Read the whole novel to get to that part, I implore you. The story took a while to get going, then took a while to finish. There were a couple of chapters that felt extraneous. Kat, Allie’s sister, is incredibly annoying. I wish she’d been written differently. Allie and Sofia are on a slow-burn journey and the chemistry is there right from the start. Because of Sofia’s reluctance to enter into another relationship, the chemistry builds and builds. It’s very lovely. The secondary characters of Reyna and Runa are well-developed, and add depth to the story. This is a story about love, the really intense kind where intimacy and understanding the soul of a person is paramount. It’s the forever kind.
To say I enjoyed this would be preverse - it is though well written and gives a genuine insight into grief, guilt and trying to rebuild your life. Glad I read it and hight recommended. Bring your own tissues!
So, the first half of the book was great and contained a full story; from meet cute to happy ending...and then the entire second half of the book was slice of life episodes of their relationship being awesome with no conflict or plot. This wasn't a bad thing, but it was different from what I am used to. I didn't hate it. I read it all in one sitting. But I'm glad not all romances do this. It's like...it's what I always think I want when I get to the HEA part of a good book and it ends, but now that I've got it I realize it's not actually what I want! Lol. I'm glad I read it though! No regrets.
3/5 I can't really hate this book but I can't lie and say I loved it either.
This book was really cheesy if you ask me(something I'm not really a fan of)but It wasn't that bad, kinda enjoyable, a lot of cliches, this felt like watching a dating show drama
I can understand the relationships and why it couldn't had bee possible in 2 books ,but I believe not one was explored enough. I didn't felt connected with one relationship. Things between both were going so fast and both were really similar somehow
But I guess this is the kind of book you don't regret reading, and it makes you happy you added another book at your read shelf
This is a well written love story. The main characters are so in love. It makes you wish for that type of relationship. All characters were great. Well written love scenes with a great ending.
Just one look and Bam! I do believe love can hit you like that. This story has a tremendous amount of love and patience. A very tender story of finding love after a loss. Very well written.
I loved this book. I loved how one woman was in love with her sister's best friend and even though it never worked out she still fell in love and her sister's best friend fell in love also.
After an interesting and entertaining beginning, based on the Love Doctor business, R&R and Sofia and Allie each embark on quite the love story! But the main gist of this story is the resurrection of Sofia’s heart, seven years after losing the love of her life. I have never experienced such loss, but the book is so evocative, so well written, that I felt her pain, and then her joy, at finding new love. The cemetery scene with Sofia, Allie, and Molly is absolutely, gut-wrenchingly beautiful.
It's a slow build to get to the main characters arc but let me tell you the book is amazing non the lazy. So all you fluffy romantics who love the sappy endings and the fairytale this is our book all the quotes, the undying love and dedication it's here so buy the book and enjoy.
This book was outstanding. It is a great example of love at first sight. S.W. gets you involved in this beautiful story from the beginning. Please go out and get this book. You will truly enjoy love and love lost and finding love again. Thanks for another fantastic book.
This is a sweet story about how sometimes life doesn't go the way you expected... Both good and bad. But you need to be willing to move forward because you never know what might be around the next curve life throws at you!
Sofia Delacruz is the Love Doctor, and she specializes in helping very different people find love together. Even thought she helps others find love, she has lost the greatest love of her life and believes she will never and should never love again. Yet when Allie comes along, sparks fly and Sofia cannot resist the allure of this beautiful woman. Yet can she get over the pain of the past to find a bright and happy future?
This is a lovely contemporary lesbian romance. I really liked the setup with Sofia and her best friend Reyna working as a business that helps people find love, but their newest client brings in love for both of them. The feelings Sofia experiences of loss of a spouse and grief and everything that comes with it is very well done. Yet Allie is the perfect woman to help her heal. There are a few bumps in the road and not as much tension as I would have liked, but this is a romance for those who love all the feel good parts stretching out long after the couple gets together.
Sofia’s heart has been broken, yet she spends her days orchestrating love for others.
Allie had forsworn commitment to focus on her career.
A chance meeting of eyes across a crowded bar shocks them both - can love strike twice for Sofia?
Whilst the premise of this book grabbed me from the get-go, the second half of the novel felt like a race. The story focused exclusively on the main characters love, and seemed to drop the plot lines (careers, friends, etc) which made the story hold together. I feel as though whilst all the characters elements were there, some more judicious editing would have been beneficial.
A bit of a slushy romantic story but I did enjoy it. It seemed to be a story of two couples finding romance but then veered off and just focused on one of the couples. It would have been nice to have heard more of the romance developing between Reyna and Runa as there was a lot of time vested in them at the start. Saying that there was a lot still to focus on with Sofia and Allie and how both sides of the relationship had to deal with the loss of Sofia’s wife. Very well written, had me in tears and with big silly grins on my face at times.
I really wanted to like this story but I just couldn't. The first half of the story was interesting and kept me intrigued, but as it progressed it became boring. I found myself more interested in the side characters story then Allie and Sophia. I truly enjoyed the growth Sophia went through but I wanted more.
This book is a gorgeous story of the healing power of love and connection in the face of grief. The author does a fantastic job of developing the main characters and weaving together a beautiful tale of hope emerging out of loss.
Great read! Wonderful character development, the story flows and I loved the way the characters grow, and accept the changes that happen to them. Most of us are lucky to find our soulmate once in a lifetime, but what could be better than Twice!
