Having dragged herself back from rock bottom to find that she was always the Grimes she denied, Nickie must overcome the most painful obstacle of all.
Reconnecting with her family.
Nickie's outright refusal was to be expected. However, her family are done waiting and she is dragged right into the family drama.
Problem is, her family drama is an intergalactic war.
Add in a new business, a potential love interest, and a ton of faces from the past - not to mention Barnabas' seeming dedication to making her life difficult, and Nickie is left with no choice but to give in to her destiny or give up the fight for good.
Stay in the shadows, or find her resolution?
The time has come for Nickie to decide.

What a great ending to yet another fantastic series, by Ell Leigh Clarke!
There's nothing that I've read of hers that I haven't loved, but this series took my heart from the first book.
Reading all of the steps of Nickie's Rite of Passage has been entertaining - it has been laugh out loud funny, a nail biting suspense, and gripping in it's intensity, but, most of all, it has told the tale that every human lives through, as they battle to find themselves in the seas of expectation that we all have to sail on, as we pass from childhood to adulthood!
I really loved this last book, and seeing Nickie reunited with her family again, and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing her totally at peace with herself, at last - even if it did take a fight to the death with the Ooken, to do it.
I'm really going to miss reading this series, although, on looking at my reading list , to see what comes next, I was delighted to see it was book 26 of the main Bethany Anne series next - or, if you prefer it, book six of The Kurtherian Endgame: Enter into Valhalla!
When I first started reading the first of the Kurtherian series, it was Bethany Anne's character that I fell in love with but, over the weeks, then months, of reading all the series involved in TKU, I realised that it's not so much the characters themselves that I love, but the ideals that they live, and die, by that keeps drawing me in.
In a world of get rich quick, and step over anyone on your way up, it's such a relief to read about people who constantly fight for everyone to have a bite of the cherry. For all peoples, no matter where they come from, to have the opportunity to build something better for them, their families and, ultimately, the whole of their societies, so that they can flourish and grow.
But, most of all, these books also show the realities of those who do the wrong thing, sometimes for the right reason but, ultimately, how that poisons the very thing they are aiming for. It's that touch of reality, that keeps me coming back for more because, after all, who could live with total perfection for long! Lol
I enjoyed this book, I was glad to see Nikki really come into her own. I got to watch his character grow unfortunately this is the conclusion of the series and honestly I want more Nikki. If you haven’t read this series I really suggest you give it a try Nikki is an excellent and likable character and so is Tabatha. Maybe the authors will write a book later on down the road just show us how she’s progressing, hope hope, hint, hint.
Good redemption story. Liked the character, and her family interactions. Like real life, family is sometimes more than blood relationships, that it doesn't always flow smoothly, that understanding and misunderstanding are just a blink away from one another. Liked the way Nickie grew throughout the series, and finally realized her entire family loved her. Look forward to seeing her crop up I other books as the universe continues to expand.
This KU library selection is the telling of the story of Nickie Grimes as she matures and comes to terms with her own role in her tumultuous past and "sabatical". Throughout her exile her family worried about her safety, but now that she's back in the fold is when she confronts real danger. Some things she has prepared for, but Ookens are something entirely different.
I’m enjoying how we see past events as well as the present. We are seeing more of Nickie’s story, and more about Tabitha as well. The story is very well written and very addictive. The resolution is heart-warming, but definitely an abundance of attitude!
Nickie comes closer and closer to resolving her perceptions of the problems with her family. Will she finally achieve it? She finds more people to help as she kicks butt across the galaxy. I like the action, humor, and the little bit of romance. It would be nice to see more of her adventures.
Is there anyway we can get more of Nikki ? She's one of my favorites in the Kutherian universe. I'm going to miss her adventures. Maybe a series of her going forward with her company ? If not , thanks for the current series . Great books
Deuces Wild has been my fishes for quite sometime, both for the story itself and the Author Notes shenanigans! Now I'm up to another series, ready to poke Ellie with Reader's Pitchfork so she can publish Jayne 2 tomorrow!
Such a great story to learn about growing up and becoming the person you were always meant to be. Allowing yourself to be loved and love your family in return.
So glad to hear that isn’t the end of the series! I like the characters and would hate to see Nikkie’s story end here. I can’t wait to read more about her and her crew!
I have read all the books in this series, I have read death becomes her series twice. Love all that Michael Anderle and company writes. Thanks Mr. Andrew for finding such a great group of people.
Wrapped up series, all questions answered but it does feel a little rushed with Nickie's love life. Amazing read, more adventurous then romance. Can't wait to read more. JL
Just happened to fall upon Book 1 which I barely remembered and fall in love with Nickie, Tabatha and the gang all over again. Great Series and Great Authors, thank you for doing what you do and doing it so well.
I liked this book in the Deuces Wild series. Nickie has finally resolved things with her family! Also yay! Finally Rickie might be getting a girl! The old dog is maybe getting some one!
Sorry to see the series finished but I hope we'll see Nickie and her crew in other series.
This series started with Nickie having just come out of a very destructive and dangerous phase of using drugs and alcohol and having been exiled by Bethany Anne's for seven years in the first three books we see her starting to grow up by accepting responsibility for the things she does. In the last two we see her grow further and eventually makes amends with her family.
