It's been almost a year since Corporal Kate Darby nearly died after being set up by a dirty cop.
She's physically ready to get back to her old life, to start patrolling the streets of Peculiar, Texas. But is she mentally ready?
Her first day back, she goes out on a call for a flasher, and when that flasher is also flashing a weapon, everything goes south. Now Kate needs to decide if she's mentally ready to be a cop again. But before she has time to think about it, she has to face a angry protestors. Will Kate survive what happens next?
USA Today bestselling author, Jamie Lee Scott, loves killing people, ehem, writing a good mystery. When she’s not writing novels, she’s writing screenplays and making indie films. Her first produced screenplay can be seen on DirecTV’s ShortsHD channel. No One Knows is an “Editor’s Choice” on the channel for short films. Jamie lives on a farm with her husband, two dogs, two cats, and three horses. Aside from writing, Jamie is a competitive barrel racer.
A change of pace but just as outstanding. If you loved Angry Betty and Bang switch even half as much as I did, you will love Check Six, the third book of the Kate Darby Crime Novel series, just as much. Grit and reality meet heart as Kate faces new bosses, new rules, more death, and an all-too-real ghost upon her return.
I recommend that readers begin with book one, Angry Betty because events in each book affect what happens in the others. Jamie Lee Scott builds the background that the readers needs into each novel so it can be read without the others but of necessity, the plot includes spoilers. You are going to want to read the other two books.
When I reached the end and there was no cliffhanger, I was afraid this was the end. I was greatly relieved to see that more books are in the works. This series became a must buy for me as soon as I read the first chapter of the Angry Betty and nothing has changed my mind about that.
After a year of rehab and fighting her own personal demons after being shot. Corp. Kate Darby is back on the job. And what a welcome she receives. Two shootings in the first two days back on the job, and her own nightmare in the form of the ghost who shot and would have raped her is back.
It's a race against the clock as Kate is trying to keep mental health in check while at the same time trying to solve a murder. And to prove to herself and the rest of the dept. that she did not come back too soon.
Another well written story from Jamie Lee Scott. This one is a page turner that I really did not want to put down.
Good series, each book has brought me to what to read the next one right away. This one actually felt like it had an ending. I'm still looking forward to the next one though. These books read fast as they are interesting seem fast paced to me.
Good read. I’m reading the series and really enjoy Kate’s story. This is a good series for summer or just a day on the porch with Tea or a glass of wine. Easy read pick up and put down story.
