In Book 7, Retta and her FBI agent boyfriend stop in Green Bay, Wisconsin, for the night, at which point Lars disappears. Desperate, Retta calls in sisters Faye and Barb. As they follow leads, they run into three sisters who might be future versions of Betty, a sweetheart who loves the Green Bay Packers; DeeAnne, a dramatic type always in acting mode; and Lydia, a business-like grump. Though they say they don't know where Lars could be, something at their antique/vintage store isn't right.Soon Retta is captured and held prisoner. She escapes, is caught, and escapes again...and again. Barb and Faye search frantically for her across the wintry landscape, with Styx the Newfoundland as their clumsy-but-dedicated ally. Success had better come soon, since the plan is for Retta--and anyone else who gets in the criminals' way--to die.

"Something unsavoury at the o!d mill."
This delightful series featuring the three S!euth sisters once absorbing a most enjoyable mix of thrills, laughter and crazy characters. The sisters, who run a private detective business, the Smart Detective Agency, this time look into the disappearance of Lars, Retta's partner. He'd started acting strangely when they had visited a shop with antique jewelry then, shortly after, drove off and simply hadn't come back. The sisters mobilise.
The joy of these books lies in the personalities and interaction of the sisters and, in this story, the quirky characters they encounter, rather than the story itself, though that is fun. Three narrators, Anna Jacques, Judy B!he and Liz Cloud, read alternating chapters, taking the roles of Barbara, Retta and Faye, which adds to the individuality of the members of the trio, All do an excellent job in breathing life not only into them but the other characters, also - and of Sticks, a very large dog. A bit slap stick humour in places, this is a fun book and recommended to brighten a dreary day.

I absolutely love The Sleuth Sisters. Their personalities are so different from one another. They squabble, they compromise, they get on each other's nerves...But no matter what, their love shines through and they always stand strong against any and all threats.
Retta proved once again that she is one very strong, resilient lady. She never gave up. Faye once more came through as the glue that holds them all together and I'm pleased to see her gaining more confidence in her abilities. I loved when she told off Wanda! Barb was once again her level-headed self. She has such a big heart but is so averse to appearing vulnerable. I loved her introspection when she encountered the graffiti artist. When you get these ladies on the job, you know justice will prevail. Together they are unstoppable.
Maggie Pill writes fully developed, three-dimensional characters whom you can't help but like. Her stories are well-written and will keep you quickly turning the pages to see what happens next. While each story in The Sleuth Sisters series is a standalone, I urge you to read the entire series. It is awesome.

A Sisters Tale
Retta and Lars leave for Alburburquer but Lars disappears in Green Bay. Faye and Barb drive up to help look for him. Then Retta disappears. Now it’s a race to find out what three old ladies are doing in their store that might be illegal. A fun quirky set of characters. Fun cozy mystery. Recommend author.

I loved this series I am sad that it is over. I do wish this last one had a little more completion in all the women’s personal life. Faye I’d definitely my favorite and o loved her relationship with her husband and kids. Barb cracks me up and I like her and Rory together. Retta, even though she is more conceded than her sisters she was a great part of the team and I liked her with Lars.

I really enjoy the women of The Smart Detective Agency (aka The Sleuth Sisters). I love how their personalities are reflected in the actions they take. I sure hope Ms. Pill (aka Peg Herring) writes more. I need more "correction events"!

I enjoyed this installment in the series. It was clever but convoluted. Not my favorite in the series, but well worth the read. I really enjoy the sisters.

Once again, an easy read but truly stretches the imagination. I’ve read four of this series and each one gets more improbable. But they are fun and enjoyable if you don’t take them too seriously. 😜

Kidnapped
This book and the first were my favorite in this series. Though, I found one grammatical error. And because of the author's dislike of them, that surprised me. This story, didn't really have a mystery to solve, but I loved the way it was told.
