I received a digital arc in exchange for an honest review. This is simply my opinion on the book and is not influenced by any external factor.
After reading Waypoint and loving it, I was excited to dive into book 2 and see how the story continues. As I mentioned in my review for Waypoint, it ended in a way that makes you really want to read the next one, and we pick up in Constellation right where Waypoint left off. We know why the power went off and who was behind it, but can our group of heroes outsmart the government and restore the world to its former glory?
Just in my opinion, there are some references to the Waypoint novella, Intel. It’s not required to read this before reading Constellation, but it certainly would put more things into perspective and make it a more enjoyable read.
Here’s what you can expect while reading Constellation:
• It is an addicting fast paced story that you will not want to put down. The story itself is constructed well and flows and melts into a smooth story.
• The story is told from four perspectives, and each chapter is clearly annotated to indicate whose point of view we are reading from. We start where Waypoint left off, with Simon in jail and the others trying to bust him out, working with an alleged terrorist group.
• Expect tense and exciting action scenes, but no graphic violence.
• The gamer references – if you like Final Fantasy as much as I do, you’ll instantly get the reference from the first chapter in Simon’s perspective. And so many of the settings, especially when Simon takes the guard’s helmet, reminds me of video game settings (for example, Metroid).
• There’s a little more focus on romance in this book, but it is still only a minor plot point and does not interrupt the flow of the story.
This is one of the best series I have read, I love the writing style, I love the plot twists, the action, the excitement. The characters are all great, and it even ends on a sweet note that is not rushed or leaves unanswered questions. In summary, just amazing!
