We’ve finally reached the last book in the series and Eist’s final showdown with the evil Blight. The three gods of her world are now trapped in human form, making them sitting ducks for the Blight, which is itching to chow down on them and become limitless in power. But Eist and all of the dragon riders are determined to keep that from happening and are still determined they can take down the Blight with the witches and new group of brindle dragons that Eist journeyed through time to save now on hand.

I loved the Three in human form! I loved their different personalities and how they really didn’t understand being human and various human concepts (like bathing and hunger). Out of the three, it felt like we really didn’t get to know the Grandfather all that well, though the All-Mother and the Storm were nicely brought to life. Of course, though, that reprieve time was short and the Blight came calling for his dinner of the Three gods (devouring humanized gods is a disgusting mental picture. It was disgusting even when it was the Titans devouring the Greek Gods). When the battle gets started it becomes yet another abstract blur of power and fighting (the cover even demonstrates that), making the final battle less than impressive. At this point Eist has become a rather Mary-sue generic over-powered chosen one with the return of magic to her world in the previous book, making solving the large problem far too easily for any real tension to have been built in this book. It felt like the ending came too easily in this installment. I didn’t care for the ending (and I’d be spoiling the ending if I told you my reasons -specifically two character names and because it felt like the author felt the need to tie up every loose thread through the length of the series here at the end which felt really forced and orchestrated). Suffice to say, if you read my reviews on the previous books in this series, you can probably guess why I didn’t care for the end). I thought it was nice that the story came full circle, but a let down that it didn’t end how I wanted it to end. At least now I can move on to something else.

Great Close to a Rock-Solid Series

(This review will encompass the Brindle Dragon Series as a whole, in addition to Power of Three.)

In closing out The Brindle Dragon here in Power of Three, Jada Fisher does a superb job of tying up the various plots she had been arranging and hinting at throughout the previous 8 books of the series. Even more critically important, she does so without resorting to trite artifices (like the deus ex machina) too commonly used by too many others.

This is no better illustrated than in her title, which refers to the triumvirate of "gods" which the people of her word have worshipped for perhaps thousands of years - but whom in reality were not divine but rather advanced beings from another world, fled to this world because of the great evil that Fisher crafted and at the same time acting as a magnet to bring it to this one. The power of these Three was responsible not only for that but for the devastating lack of magic to fight that being - the Blight - with, as well as for an irrational fear and hatred of those who practiced it, thus reinforcing the continued lack. So it was only proper that this Three should be brought fully into the story, in an unhurried process that allowed us to make sense of so many things that he been hinted at if not outright set in all the previous installments. Everything from heroine Eist's origins and peculiar attributes and abilities to the same for her friend Dille, to an even more complete understanding behind the Blight and what it has done and was trying to do, all saw fulfillment in these pages. And it all made excellent, understandable sense based entirely upon everything that had occurred somewhere in previous pages.

The truly remarkable aspect here is that none of it struck this reviewer as hurried. Often, at the close of a story - even one that has unfolded over multiple installments - one gets the feeling the author is ready to finish and just trying to complete their work as quickly as possible. Simply, gratefully, that does not happen with Fisher's work here. As packed with content as Power of Three truly, it all unfolds at a completely reasonable pace, fully and completely. Even more importantly, as mentioned above, it did so consistently to all of Brindle Dragon's previous installments. This is a hallmark of a mature work, and highly satisfying to this reviewer as an engaged reader.

There is, however, one criticism this reviewer must raise, and it is one that stretches through the length of the Brindle Dragon series.

Use of language in writing is critically important, particularly in setting such as fantasy as here - where a certain richness in imagery/setting and language is de rigeur. As such, it is both reasonable and expected that language will be appropriately handled, in order to create and maintain immersion in what the author is trying to set up. Consequently, when authors depart from this - even for understandable reasons, such as appeal; one understands there's a desire to make the story attractive to particular audiences which the story's cast is probably indicative of - the result can still be rather jarring, and cause a loss of immersion.

So it is within the Brindle Dragon. From time to time, the author will present us with dialogue more appropriate to a modern teenagers' gathering, complete with contemporary slang common to *this* world as opposed to a fantasy creation. It simply doesn't fit the setting, and is therefore noticeable when it occurs. And in a few cases, one noted that it seemed this might have been due to editing as much as active choice of language. Either way, this was disappointing in a story that was otherwise so very well-crafted and tied up in terms of plot.

In the end, however, this may be more of a personal niggle for this reviewer, as Power of Three - and the Brindle Dragon series as a whole - otherwise succeeds very well indeed. Rich and deep characters and setting lovingly utilized in a solid and coherent plot more than warrant a high grade and solid positive recommendation. The entire Bridle Dragon series is well-worth your time. Kudos to Jada Fisher on this delightful work!

A great series, perfect for any one wanting an exciting adventure were the Heroine and her companions are teenagers.

I skipped reviews on books 6,7 and 8. Deciding to just cover them all in this one. Though each is a complete story they flow from one right into the next.
All Eist wanted to do was be the best Dragon rider and protect those she cared about. Instead the evil that her parents died stopping has returned and targeted her and Fior. Now with 4 unexpected friends she leads the fight to survive and save those she cares about. It's all action swift and deadly as secrets are exposed and long buried
Truths are brought forward. Each book opens up some thing new and unexpected, the loss of one of them then the total loss of another claimed by the Blight. Running threw this is developing teenage emotions.
Eist has a new mission, free her friend from the Blight, while saving a world that is not what they had been thought and The 3 God's who are not what they had believed in.
Tip just get all 9 books so you can read beginning to end with no interruptions. It really is a great series, suitable for young readers and older who just enjoy a great story.

Read the hole series

I read all of the nine books, over all I liked the series. I appreciated the friendship and the twist at the end with the three gods. But the reason why I have the book three stars is the conclusion felt really rushed with a lot of lose ends that were not talked about. I also didn't really like how athar was kinda second fiddle to yarisht and I am sorry I know I probably spelled his name wrong. I know that the main character said she couldn't love yarisht after the torture but it was one sentence where as this hole book she is trying to get him back... I would suggest to read it just don't get super invested or else you will be left with a lot of questions with no answers

Enjoyed

I have enjoyed this series. Didn’t like the way the books were broken down, so hesitate to read more from these authors. Would have been worse if the series wasn’t finished yet.
The story was written well, and not that many errors. I enjoyed the characters very much, really liked the heroine. As far as this book goes, it ended well, but also seemed to need more. I have never been a fan of doing all to defeat the great evil, but then you lose something good that’s a part of you. I know the bad had to go, but your blood is still who you are. But, this was a good series and would recommend to all ages.

This is book #9 of the Brindle Dragon series. The author's afterword states that this is the end of the series, and it certainly ended with a bang. Eist and her friends and dragon are involved in a final battle against the Blight, which has taken over Yacrist's body and is bent on swallowing the Three gods that were worshiped on this world. Eist still wants to rescue Yacrist from the Blight. This book is full of battle sequences and you can find out more than you ever wanted know about dragon battles and the pain the human body must endure to come out the other side. I enjoyed this finale and I think you will too.

A brilliant conclusion!

Eist and Fior gather their companions and fellow Dragon Riders for the final battle to determine if the Blight can be destroyed and magic brought back to the land. The tension and action is non-stop with some pretty cool twists and turns. This book is a satisfying conclusion to the series. So we'll crafted with engaging characters and a plot full of surprising, dangerous circumstances. I hated to see it end, but it ended well. I will miss all the characters I have come to love.

Summary: Simple coming of age type book, potential for better things so I'll keep going in this series, not sure about dragons. We'll see. Some of the characters are a bit 2 dimensional. Book 9 continues the theme, a bit more on magic and the blight

Plotline: Very simple plot for this first, very short, book. Ditto book 9

Premise: Dragons. Magic and the blight...

Writing: Simple, descriptive, light

Ending: Well highly predictable, title gives it away really. All over. Worth the read, but quite hard work by the end

Pace: Never a dull moment!

Power of Three by Jada Fisher

This is the 9th book in The Brindle Dragon series and it is the final one. It was a little slow and emotionally hard to read because of the constant battle that went to the other side every time until the end. The solution to Eist’s and the other dragon riders’ problems happens in the last 7% of the book. My great disappointment was that nothing is really said about the lives of the four friends after the battle except for a brief event.

WOW great action packed love story!

Anyone interested in reading a story that takes you to other worlds and realms and away from the norm then this writer and this series for you.

I just finished the last book in this series, and what a ride. I enjoyed the characters, the setting, the worlds, the magic, and of course the love.

The author did a marvelous job of bringing it all together.

I saved my review (I guess this isn't so much of a review though, more of a commentary) of this series for the final book. As a person who is partially deaf like the main character, it was nice to read a series where I could actually relate to the main character (all I need is my very own dragon). I don't really have much to add (I'm a terrible reviewer, can't help it), but just to say thank you to the author.

WOW!

I'm sure I don't have the words to describe how this book made me feel. Many times throughout this series, the situation felt hopeless--it felt like all the heroes were able to do was avoid dying, but not to make inroads toward defeating the Blight. The ending did have some surprises I never could have predicted. All in all, it was satisfying and just felt 'right'. I do recommend this series!

Absolutely Magical

Eiste dreams of life as a Dragon rider, but has no idea of the wild ride she and her Dragon and friends will journey through on this powerful 9 book series. Filled with Fighting, battles, magic of good and evil, dragons and witches and twists and tween oooooo my, it’s incredibly and wonderfully written.

A terrific heroine in Eiste, an equally dark villain, terrific support cast against a thrilling magical backdrop and an absolutely worthwhile read

Totally awesome.

What a series. Jade Fisher has taken the dragons and there riders to hell and back and made a breathtaking world out of what could have been disaster. Each of the books lead into the nest kind of like a tv show. I for one am a huge fan of Ms Fisher and her style of writing. Highly recommended.

This is a great story and has outstanding characters which I love. Them coming of age and growing as individuals makes the telling of this story even better. Other than that little blup with the short story not being listed (cause it was a continuation of the story and was not any where to be found), this is an outstanding series. Great Reading Everyone!

Epic Conclusion! The Blight is still set on having Eist and brings his fight to the academy. The ensuing battle brings his biggest victory yet and some unexpected consequences. When the next ‘final battle’ is absolutely amazing. A beautifully written conclusion to an excellent series with all the loose ends are tied up nicely.

Review of the entire series

Yes, I have it five stars. This has been one of the most enjoyable fantasy series I have ever read. Character building continued throughout this story, right to the end. Magic is necessary, and series like this one remind us of that fact. There is too little magic in our lives. I recommend this series with all of my heart!

She did what?!?!

The Blight has been indestructible over and over!! Eist and her friends are running out of time to find a way of destroying it and, unfortunately, its human host. Yacrist is not the person he was or their friend any longer. Will they be able to save the world before it's destroyed or will they fail once again??

Well it's over, book 9 was the last one.

I grew to love these characters and all the dragons and wonder how I will possibly get by without them. I suppose I will, but I did enjoy living in their world for a time. Hope I can find the sequels.

Each book a chapter

I really liked the books but they should have been one novel not 9. Each "book" was the length of a chapter and it seems they were written that way to simply mKe the author more money.
