Almost a year on from fleeing the city of Chicago, accused of a spate of grisly killings, Josh Sawyer has crossed the American border, taking refuge in a small, unknown Mexican town. Hiding from the US authorities, his place of sanctuary quickly turns desperate, as it becomes apparent that this place is harbouring a dark secret of its own. Meanwhile, at the furthest tip of the northern hemisphere, FBI Agent Sebastian Fernandez is posted to Alaska, his special talents required in helping the citizens of Fairbanks to find a ruthless killer, drawn there by an almost perpetual darkness. Only one person can help both Josh and Agent Fernandez. Someone with the ability to understand how the living psyche can become twisted and immoral. Able to think how killers think. Yet, more importantly, kill how they kill.
Paul developed a keen sense of imagination whilst reading dark fiction and watching cult horror movies throughout his teenage years. Heavily influenced by the likes of US Horror writer, Robert McCammon, and movie director, John Carpenter, Paul likes to take a seemingly normal character and put them into an extraordinary situation. Paul is also a fully qualified boxing coach, and currently helps out at his local boxing club as an assistant coach.
TRUE LOVE OF MINE is Paul's next book, a horror/thriller, due for release SOON.
A random kindle freebie ought to be judged accordingly. Vampires (or vampire like creatures) in Alaska actually has been done before. In a far superior manner. This one puts its own soul stealing spin on it, but it doesn’t really offer something new. Vampire genre in general has been done to death and it takes a lot to bring any fresh life into it, pardon the puns. This is more of a by numbers creature feature with the twist being that it takes one to kill one, which if, of course, also not an original idea. The writing itself is surprisingly decent, but the editing is horrid. In fact it is quite possible the scariest thing about this book…how many typos a text can have and still get published. Some are quite entertaining too, like admiral job instead of admirable one. Also this one reads very much like a sequel, although description makes no mention of that being the case. A 2000 year old vampire and a young mortal man passionately in love and ready to dispense justice. Plenty of action, gore and guts for those who are into that sort of thing. Didn’t really do it for me, though. Mildly entertaining quick read, but that’s about it really.
Dead Until Dawn was almost non-stop action. If things got quiet, for a bit, you knew something big was coming. I liked almost all of the characters, even if I was constantly trying to figure out who or what they truly were. Honestly, I'm still trying to figure a few things out, but to me that means the author did their job. If you like zombies, werewolves, and vampires, you will probably enjoy this one.
This was great story! Even with Anna's supernatural herself she's one of the good one. Even helping out someone who doesn't care or believe in her. Can't wait to read more about Anna and josh.
