LOVED Emmitt!! Great hero, hunky werewolf, just what one is looking for in a book-boyfriend! Reading his POV was great fun and made the overall story MUCH better than just Michelle's book alone.

Emmitt’s Treasure by Melissa Haag is an awesome addition to the Judgement of Six Series providing readers with Emmitt’s version of what occurred during (Mis)Fortune, which was told from Michelle’s point of view.

As in (Mis)Fortune, the main characters are Michelle, Emmitt, Jim, Nana Wini and Michelle’s little brothers Aden and Liam. If you loved these characters in (Mis)Fortune, you will love them even more in Emmitt’s Treasure (ET)! Melissa reveals more information about each of the characters in ET and we get to see sides of them that we had not in the other book.

I loved Emmitt in (Mis)Fortune. He was sexy, caring, sweet, funny, devoted and patient. He went out of his way to do everything he possibly could for Michelle and her brothers. In Emmitt’s Treasure, Emmitt is SO MUCH MORE! Wow, what a great guy! I liked seeing that he had a difficult time dealing with things and was not perfect.

Michelle is a terrified 19-year-old girl running away from dangerous people with the sole responsibility for caring for her two brothers and keeping the three of them safe. She is sheltered, brave, beautiful inside and out, frightened, caring and determined. We also got to see her through Emmitt’s eyes, which was awesome.

Jim. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE JIM! I liked Jim in (Mis)Fortune. He was the funny, diversion that you just had to love. In Emmitt’s Treasure, we get to see much more of Jim and it was AMAZING! Jim is very smart, caring, sweet, loveable, determined, funny and amazing. I loved getting to know more about him and I want to see much more of Jim in the next books.

The book flows nicely between action and building romance. It also incorporates background information into the story smoothly. Even though I knew what would happen, I found myself routing for Emmitt and being devastated when things did not go as he hoped that they would.

I love companion books when the first book is written from one point of view. They provide insight into the other side of the story and this one gives the other side of the story and additional information that left me stunned!

I highly recommend this book and I can’t wait for the next in the series!

I've read this now, both together with (Mis)Fortune, and by itself.
It is interesting to get the guy's POV in this companion series, don't get me wrong, but because the main story is the really about the ladies, these books leave out a lot of important details. I read it alone this time, but feel now, it really needs to be read along with, or should have been a part of Michelle's story to begin with.

We do get a FEW new details in this book, but it mostly feels like just a repeat. Though I've read a comment from the author that as the companion series progresses she will start tying it all together with the main series, and the final two characters will be ending it by sharing the same book. Finally! With the exception of Clay and Gabby, I really think each couples' books should have been combined into one written showing both perspectives and in the first place.
That is just my opinion though.

I get the feeling some new authors, like maybe this one, are so excited to release a book, they haven't thought their whole series through yet. Maybe they get halfway through and change and grow in their writting. I wonder if they get to the end and wish they had written the beginning differently, and thus we get offshoots and "companion" novels. I've read a few series that did things like this, and I honestly wish the authors would go back and combine several books and then rerelease them. Hopefully then, not just as an ebook too.
Sorry for the rant, but, for an example, we come into Michelle's story in this series, only to find out it happens before Gabby's.
Then number three? Happens the same way, mixed in the middle. 1,2,&3 basically start at different times but end together.
Not that I'm a writter, or could tell you how to write it better, but the way it is can be confusing at times.

Don't get me wrong though, I do like these books, this is just the one thing that bothers me, it's a great story though. A very unique idea.

Awesome. Of course I wanted more & didn't want it to end...but loved reading the story from the other POV. Really fun, plus lots of Jim for all the Jimnatics! Full review to come closer to release day on May 24th!

Full review was published on BookCrushin & here are the main points...but the entire review is available on the blog!

I fell for Emmitt, AGAIN, and this time I fell so much harder!

It is really hard to keep this spoiler free because I just want to gush about the happenings and discoveries that vary from (Mis)fortune, but there are a few more things you need to know:

1. Bake some cookies or buy some to have handy while you read, because the entire time I was reading I wanted cookies!
2. There is plenty of story that we did not know and I would never miss the chance to know more about Emmitt, Jim, Nana Wini, and the rest of the pack! So worth the read as an alternate POV book!
3. I had a grin on my face like the entire time I was reading. This book is a lot of fun!
4. Jim has become even more solidified in my head as one of the best side characters of this series! I need him to get his HEA. I really, really need this to happen!
5. If you had any doubt, the companion novels are a must read & now I am drooling for the next one, Luke’s Dream!

I've been a fan of the Judgement of the Six series since day 1. (I might be exaggerating. Slightly. It might have been day 2. Maybe I should say since I first picked up Clay and Gabby's book. Hooked, my friends. I was hooked with those two and things have only gotten more intense since then.) I kinda dig getting into the guys heads with the companion series. It adds a little something extra to the main books and I like extras. I like them a lot.

So. Emmitt and Michelle. He's not quite ready to take on the responsibility his parents need him to. She's running scared from something she can hardly believe in. Seeing how hard it was for him to go slow and easy to win Michelle's trust made me like him even more. On the other hand, knowing who and what Michelle's captors are, it was hard to watch the pack fumbling for answers. (Not too hard, just moderately hard. BAD THINGS ARE COMING! WATCH OUT!)

But seriously. I do enjoy seeing events from another perspective. I like watching the pack dynamics from the inside. I like getting into the heads of the guys and getting to experience them falling for their special ladies. *thumbs up*

ON REREAD:
4 stars — So while I enjoyed Michelle’s book more the second time around, I was a bit more frustrated with Emmitt’s POV on reread. I ran across the same problem of completely forgetting what Michelle was thinking at certain parts, and so I would have to flip back to (Mis)fortune to satisfy my curiosity, and that got tiring really quickly. I didn’t have to do that, but I have an obsession with knowing everything. My hubby will tell you. He thinks it’s hilarious.

As with the first time I read it, I LOVED the extra bits of depth we got of Jim. GAWD I hope his mate is the last girl….I really want that to happen.

So yeah. Still loving it, just was a bit more distracted reading this one the second go round.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
https://celebrityreaders.com/2016/07/...

4.5 stars — After reading Clay’s Hope, I had a better idea of what to expect from these companion series books, so I had the right expectations going in…and therefore I think I enjoyed myself more. I knew I wasn’t necessarily going to get a lot of background about Emmitt, or glimpses into his past. And while I would still love that, I really did enjoy what I did get for what it was. A glimpse into the exact events of (Mis)fortune, but from Emmitt’s POV. So we got to see all of his thoughts and feelings and what was going on in the background, mainly conversations between Emmitt, Jim and Nana Wini.

I already fell in love with Emmitt in (Mis)fortune, so this book just helped to solidify those feelings for me. He was exactly as he was portrayed in the first book, though I enjoyed how much he struggled to be patient with Michelle…not that he wanted to push her, just that we got to see his level of need and confusion.

And as always, his relationship with Jim was hilarious. I enjoyed getting a bit of a deeper look into who Jim was, why he was the comic relief, and how he saw his place in the world.

I will say that my memory is crap though, b/c I would read parts where Emmitt is confused about what is going on in Michelle’s brain, and EVEN THOUGH I JUST READ THE DAMN BOOK, even I was having a hard time remembering what was going through her head at any one time (except, you know, the pivotal parts).

So with two successes, and given I’m an alternative POV loving girl (particularly for a series I’m in love with), I will definitely be keeping up with reading this companion series until the end. But now, since the 3rd one isn’t out yet, do I read the Bethi’s book, then wait for Luke’s Dream…or do I read the rest of the Judgement of the Six that’s out? Decisions decisions…

This is the companion novel to (Mis)Fortune. We know from that book that Emmitt is patient and wonderfully kind with Michelle and her two younger brothers. We also know that he’s fiercely loyal and willing to do anything to make sure she feels safe, even if that means keeping himself away from her. All of that rings true in this one too. And all those swoon-worthy moments from (Mis)Fortune are explained here, and you’d think with that explanation that they would be less swoon-worthy. Not so, my friend…not so. In this we see his motivations, his fears, his insecurities, and his struggles. These are things hinted at in (Mis)Fortune. We also get more history of the compound and of others in the pack. And we get more Jim. But we find out that Jim is in training…of what, I won’t say. Just know that I love Jim.

If you’re afraid that reading the same story from a different POV would be tedious and boring, worry not with this. I know there are quite a few POV companion stories that are nothing more than an exact retelling with no new information. This isn’t one of those. It isn’t as varied as some others that I’d read, but that works with this story.

Ms. Haag takes this story and makes it bolder, richer, and more dynamic. Her ability to write the story is growing through this series. Don’t get me wrong, she’s talented from the beginning. She’s just honing her craft, as all good storytellers should. So, you should know this by now…Read this book. FIRST, read Hope(Less), Clay’s Hope, and (Mis)Fortune) before reading this. THEN read the rest of the series. You won’t regret it.

I love a second POV book. There's nothing like a good love story and getting to see it through the eyes of the man is great fun. However too many times it's just a re-telling of the original story. Not so with Melissa Haag. She manages to tell a story that would be every bit as good as a stand-alone from the POV of the other lead character, but manages to make it original at the same time. I believe that she is the very best at writing companion books. Clay's Hope was very enjoyable and Emmitt's Treasure is as well.

Emmitt is a dream come true. The cover of this book is worth a second look to begin with, this man is yummy. He's good looking, kind, thoughtful, protective, and patient. Not only is he willing to take your young brothers with you as a package deal, but he's excited about having the young cubs. And this book proves that more than a werewolf, he is a man, easily sidetracked by his want and need for Michelle. The fact that he can be so patient and stay so focused on her needs while he is so dazzled by her is impressive. Talk about the perfect man! Altogether a great read as a companion book.

Another fantastic piece of writing! To be completely honest, I am normally not a fan of re-reading books in an alternate POV, but Melissa Haag has twice now managed to surprise me and capture my interest with her Judgement of Six companion novels! Out of all of the Judgement men I also wasn't a big Emmitt fan, I think because I was least enraptured--though enjoyed it for her contribution to the overall story--by Michelle's story (Mis)Fortune. (I tend to like my female narrators a little more fierce.) But hearing Emmitt's side of the story--besides his thoughts making him so more swoon-worthy--gave me a lot of missing information, helped me understand the werewolves, and I adored getting to know Jim and Nana Wini more intimately. Jim's joking and brotherly banter with Emmitt had me cracking up, and their familial relationships with Nana Wini were heart-warming. A really great read, even if you're alternative-POV-skeptic, though I recommend it be read with or after (Mis)Fortune.

This book begins with Emmitt finding is mate, but Michelle has two young boys to take care of, and it seems she's on the run. Oh, and she doesn't know what he really is or anything about him.

He must try hard to gain her trust before he can try to push for more, but that proves harder than he originally thought.

This book was okay. It was a little annoying at times because it made it seem like Michelle wasn't a great person, but it later explains it a little more, but it was still frustrating.

It was interesting to read the story from Emmitt's point of view, however, it was also annoying how much the elder seemed to control what Emmitt did. Other than that, I liked it and I look forward to more.

Oh, I loved getting into Emmitt's head; loved every minute of it! And Jim-so much more about him and so many more scenes with him; what wisdom he has. Thank you for that "bomb," Melissa! I refuse to believe it until it really happens! This book is so revealing, and many times I was surprised at Emmitt's uncertainty about Michelle and at the lengths Emmitt (my heart hurt for him most of the time) and Jim went to, to help her. Makes me love Emmitt and Jim even more than I already do. Emmitt's Treasure is an awesome book full of danger, humor, and sweetness that I could not put down. You never cease to amaze me with your books, Melissa Haag!

If read (Mis)fortune than you probably fell in love with Michelle, the boys, Emmitt, Jim, and Nana Winnie and will definitely want to read this companion novel of it. I love that while Michelle was going through such a hard time in her book and we saw how hard it was for her, we can now see how hard it actually was on Emmitt as well. Haag writes the guys story with such good humor in it you can't help but laugh out loud at parts. It's exciting and sad at some points. I love that after just meeting her he could already be so sweet and in love even when she turns him down at every point. I think I need an Emmitt now!

I enjoyed this book more than the first companion book, Clay's Hope, perhaps because while there was obviously a good deal of overlapping with (Mis)fortune, there were several new scenes (particularly funny ones between Emmitt and Jim) and additions to previous scenes featuring psychic communication between the Pack and Emmitt's attempts to puzzle out what was causing Michelle so much fear. Overall I enjoyed it actually more than (Mis)fortune - plus Emmitt's voice was not the same as Michelle's (which is a common problem in companion books writing in an altering POV).

Another great book from Melissa Haag. I am really enjoying the companion novels to her Judgment of the Six series. It is such a hard thing to write the same situation from a different perspective without seeming redundant, but so far these have been done beautifully.

Emmett's Treasure adds levels of depth to the story we first read in (Mis)fortune and creates an even more swoon worthy book bf in Emmett. Can't wait for the next book.

Holy Smokes was this book goooood!!! Another job well done for Author Melissa Haag, I devour everything she writes and this is no different. Emmitt's Treasure is an amazing compliment to (Mis)Fortune the Judgement of the Six book. There is so much intimacy, love, longing, desire we see from Emmitt. We also get a closer look into Jim and Nana Wini and the inner workings of the pack! I can never get enough of her writing and I was left wanting MORE when it ended!!

I'm a huge fan of the JOS series, but the companion series has proven to be more than I had hoped for. Emmitt's Treasure is so heart-warming that there were times I even got a little misty eyed. Emmitt has now taken the spot of my favorite Hero in the JOS series. If you have read and enjoyed (Mis)fortune or even if you haven't I highly recommend this book. I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review and be still my heart I will be revisting Emmitt time and again.

I have loved every book written by Melissa Haag. This one is no exception. It would have been easy to just retell the story from the male perspective without adding anything new. This book did not take the easy route. It offers additional, previously unknown, views into the pack interactions and the many individuals who work tirelessly to make the pack a success. I highly recommend this latest installment as it is a must read in my opinion.

I have to say that reading this story from Emmitt's POV really improved the story for me. Reading it from Michelle's POV got boring after a bit. This POV was much more interesting. I didn't like Emmitt much in (Mis)Fortune. I LOVE him now. I feel a better connection from him. Fantastic read.

This book is Emmitt and Melissa's story from Emmitts POV. I just love when author's rewrite stories from the guys POV. You get to see what their thinking throughout the original book. Melissa did a great job with this story. I loved being in Emmitts head. We also got to see a lot more of Jim in this book. I can't wait for her next book.

Emmitt is slotted to be the next leader of the pack. His parent's wanted him to join the military so that he could learn to blend in with humans. He wanted to joint he military because he wanted to get away from it all. However, now that his time is served, he's slowly making his way back home to face his future. However, during one of his stops, he comes across his mate at a small diner. She's exhausted, and is leading two frightened boys into the diner. Something is clearly not right, and when he catches a pair of guys gearing up to kidnap her, he can no longer stand by and keep his distance. With nowhere safe to go, he helps her and her brothers escape and brings them back to his home. However, something has got the three of them severely spooked and it's not just simply the near kidnapping.

Okay, I had planned to just read the one companion novel while I waited for the original series to become available at my library, but I just had to pick up Emmitt's story. I honestly really like the simplistic writing from a werewolves perspective. They don't think too much. They don't have a lot going on. It's pretty much down to the nitty gritty. While the story progression can be a bit chippy at times with little to no warning, I have grown accustomed to the writing style and rather enjoy the lack of filler between scenes. Not to mention, I think we get a more well-rounded story about the shifters when in their heads because they are always internally communicating with each other. I think if I were to read the human women's POV's, I would not fully understand the shifters or fully grasp everything that was going on.

Now, onto the story itself. I really enjoyed this one. Michelle has gone through a lot, and it's clear that both her and her brother's have lived a sheltered life. They are clearly in trouble and running from something. However, it becomes clear that their treatment was pretty awful when her younger brothers seem awed by being outside or going to a lake. These are things they've never seen or experienced and being witness to their reactions to their new life was both sad and heartwarming. It took a lot time for the trio to warm up with the shifters that they were staying with (even though they had no clue that they were bunking with werewolves). Watching all three of them slowly warm up and come out of their shells really showed how much they endured before their escape.

I don't want to go into too much because it would ruin some of the climatic parts of the book, but what I can say is that this will not disappoint. I was not expecting the twists and turns that the author threw at us. If you are looking for a slow-building romance with a dose of suspense mixed in, then you should pick up this series. While my plan was to read the original series, I think I'm going to stick with the companion novels instead. I really like being inside the werewolves minds and getting all the behind-the-scene conversations they have telepathically.

As always I adored reading the story from a second perspective. Getting into Emmitt’s head gives the reader a second take on the events that happen, full of new scenes or takes on the same ones. No two people experience the same event the same way, so getting to see it in different ways helps clarify the situation. Besides, I adore reading about Emmitt’s protective side.

It was hard (and frustrating) for him to try to provide Michelle with a safe place to live when she wouldn’t open up to him. He was doing everything in his power to make her feel safe and like she belonged with him. Yet because she had so many secrets and worries – not that he knew about them for the longest time – his attempts to make her comfortable didn’t hit the way he hoped they would.

I know how frustrating it can be when the communication just isn’t there. It’s hard to get someone to trust you when they’re so scared of everything. Yet Emmitt never gave up. He continued to try his hardest to get Michelle to trust him, and I’m so glad it worked out for him. Not only because of the mate bond that the two have, but because they both clearly make each other better. And that’s truly what a good relationship is – two people making each other better and happier.

I admit I was a little hesitant to read this companion novel. I honestly don’t know why. I love reading alternate POV’s but I guess I was nervous they wouldn’t be as good. Especially since I didn’t like Clay’s character all that much to begin with and Emmitt left me a bit lukewarm in the original book. But since I enjoyed the originals I wanted to give it at least two books before I made a decision to continue or quit.

I’m glad I did. I can say with honesty that this book was way better than the original.

I got to see how impatient he really was with wanting to claim her. The contrast between the books was very apparent. And I liked that, because who wants to read the same book amiright? His feelings were so intense and wonderfully described. I got chills in some parts with how emotional he was. And his control with his change was impressive as well. His natural werewolf tendencies tried to push through but he was able to suppress them in order to give his mate the time she needed to come to terms with her feelings.

It was a truly awesome book. Michelle seemed very much more withdrawn in this one and if I hadn’t read the original one already I would have said she was too guarded and skittish. And Jim! Dammit Jim! I really want a mate for you. He is one of my all time favorite side characters in this series. He’s funny and wise and does whats needed even when no one seems to know what that is. He is just all kinds of awesome and I hope he gets what he wants, even if its not what I want. ::sigh::

I would suggest reading this whole series. They are a great read.

***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.***

This is a great series by Melissa Haag! Each book has a new story, but they all connect through the characters.

Michelle... She is running from her past and the crazy man who wants to control her gift for his gain. Only he is not nice to her... exactly the opposite by keeping her locked up and when he is around, if she says the wrong thing, he hits and chokes her. She is finally able to get away and just keeps going. She gets a weird feeling when stopping for a break at a dinner from Emmitt.

Emmitt.... Love him! Totally swoon worthy book boyfriend. He is an absolute gentleman who knows Michelle is meant to be with him, but he doesnt force anything or move too fast. He actually givers her quite a bit of space when it seems like she needs it. I am so happy when Michelle decides to go on a date with Emmitt. Lets just say it was about time!

Overall, this book was a great read! I actually think I like this book better than the first in this series. Cannot wait to read the next book in the series.

Great story

Emmett was discharged from the military, in his way cross country. He didn't necessarily want to head hone, but travelling on his bike was okay. He stopped for good and saw Michelle enter with two small kids in tow. Little did he know, but his life just got complicated. Michelle was his mate. As she exited, she was accosted by werewolves and humans. Emmett stopped to help.....He had to protect what was his.

Michelle was on the run from Blake and his minions. He had kept her prisoner for four years, using her brothers to control her. She ran. She knew nothing about werewolves and didn't want to find out. Blake had partially changed in front of her, while threatening her life. Can she learn to accept Emmett as her mate?? Will Black her her back??

Emmett 's view follows the original series. It's a great story.

Once again, we get some of the story from the male partner's POV, but I really enjoy how the characters aren't always together and their worlds don't start to completely revolve around one another once they meet each other. They all have their own ambitions, worries and struggles that they deal with separately even as they learn how to build a life together, and I really enjoy it.

Just as with Clay's story, we learn more about the werewolves and how they function, both on a pack level and an individual level. Yet, the relationship Emmitt has with the pack is different than that Clay had. While Clay was a Forlorn and not part of any pack, Emmitt is the son of a pack leader and expected to take over as pack leader himself someday. The difference in their attitudes and dynamics because of it was interesting and fun to see.
