The man had seemed so innocent in the bar--hot, hard, and possessing a butt that I wanted to bite like the last chocolate chip cookie in my stash.
Of course, he'd also skipped town, leaving me woefully unsatisfied. That was before the news of a failed IUD. Before the plus sign. Before Jordan showed back up determined to make that night up to me.
I didn't want a baby or a payday or a sexy, stubborn man in my life. I wanted to go back in time and pretend none of it had happened.
Unfortunately, my life had become all about that plus sign... and there wasn't a damn thing I could do about it.
Bad Breakup
The first sign of trouble was the rough, masculine voice. The second was the Scottish accent. God, Cecelia loved Scottish accents. Colin McGregor was her every fantasy come to life. And Cecelia had been in love with him. Twice.
Then had her heart broken. Twice.
Well, the third time wasn't the charm and CeCe wasn't going to be stupid about Colin. Not again. Not now that she knew better.
But had anyone informed Colin of that fact?
Bad Husband
Heather O'Keith is the biggest, baddest female CEO around. Known for being tough as nails, fair to a fault, and a shark when it comes to securing contracts for her business, RoboTech, she's also lonely.
Not that she would tell anyone else that... least of all one Clay Steele--sexy, smart, cold, and a man with a business acumen that both matches and sometimes surpasses her own.
But then Heather realizes that she may not be the only lonely one. The big lug who seems to enjoy tormenting her in the business world also has a soft side. And when that part of him is wholly directed at her, she gets stupid.
Stupid finds her waking up hungover and naked in Clay's bed. With a giant diamond ring. On her left hand.
Oh lord, what has she done?
Bad Date: A Never Before Released Novella
Blind dates were the absolute worst.
Awkward, filled to the brim with small talk, and they never, ever worked out. Kay knew all that. Yet for some reason, she still had agreed to let Heather set her up.
Maybe it was because Heather O'Keith had rescued her when some idiot had dropped half a Venti Frappuccino on her laptop, saving her nearly-completed novel and befriending her in the process. Maybe Heather was just a force to be reckoned with. Or maybe, it was because Kay had serious pushover tendencies.
But when the date came, Kay found herself alone at a table for almost an hour before she called it quits. She'd been stood up. Yup, that was just perfect.
Her night was shot, she was behind on her word count, but then . . . she quite literally ran into tall, dark, and handsome outside the restaurant. One look at him and Kay thought that perhaps her night might be salvaged after all.
Until she discovered tall, dark, and handsome was a jerk. Until she discovered that jerk was her missing blind date--her rude and insufferable date who blew right by her as if she didn't exist.
USA Today bestselling author, Elise Faber, loves chocolate, Star Wars, and hockey (the order depending on the day and how well her team—the Sharks!—are playing). She and her husband also play as much hockey as they can squeeze into their schedules, so much so that their typical date night is spent on the ice. Elise changes her hair color more often than some people change their socks, loves sparkly things, and is the mom to two exuberant boys. She lives in Northern California. Connect with her in her Facebook group, the Fabinators or email her at elise@elisefaber.com.
The writing is solid, and I can fully understand why others enjoy this. Just go ahead and throw rotten tomatoes since I obviously read this wrong. It is obvious my dislike of this one has much more to do with a big difference of opinion with Elise Faber in what constitutes romance and sexiness than in any thoughts on pacing and plot development. All the pregnancy drama, lack of deodorant, and inadequate groveling in both books were big turn offs for me. I managed to read the first 2 books of this 3 book set before I just couldn't read anymore.
Good stories that had me entertained for some hours No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings Good dialogues Well described characters Sizzling chemistry between the main characters
Loved this 3 book box set. Has me hooked. Want to finish this series. It starts with "Bad night stand" a laugh every minute book about a bad one night stand resulting in an unexpected consequence. The next book is "Bad breakup". It's a second chance romance (well, third chance actually) that has a Scottish hero. They say "third time is the charm." And last is book 3 "Bad husband" a story about a drunken night resulting in marriage and all the antics involved to keep this reluctant but badass couple together. Elise brings together witty, fun couples in her books. Can't wait to read more of this series.
This review is of the novella and the compilation in general.
Bad Date:
Kay had sat there for over an hour waiting on her blind date at the very trendy and expensive restaurant, but two very expensive glasses of wine in, and a raid of the bread basket, with a glance at her phone, she finally asked the waiter for her check. She gave him a large tip for his excellent, non-judgemental service and left the restaurant. She smiled at the hostess as she pushed her way through the door when a man ran into her as he pushed by her as he entered the restaurant with a cell phone glued to his ear. Her purse hit the sidewalk, spilling its contents everywhere, and as she looked up at the god of a man, she could see a look of concern on his face, but he must have been talking trash to a buddy because he returned his attention to the phone, and Kay could hear his part of the conversation. She learned enough to realize that the man was her MIA blind date, and she heard him disparage her and her profession of writing romance novels. Well, she had enough, and like a tea kettle blowing off steam, she unloaded on Garret Williams, ex-rugby player. Then, after giving him a copy of her latest book and telling him off, she turned and left him standing there, but that wasn’t the last time they would meet.
This short story I give five stars out of five stars, and for this compilation of the first three novels of the Bad Billionaires Series with this novella, I also give it five stars out of five stars.
Jordan in "Bad Night Stand" starts off as one of the jerkiest guys I've read about (and I read A LOT); even about halfway through he's still being a jerk, but the CHEMISTRY between these two is just fantastic. I'm not going to give spoilers, but the deodorant was one of the quirkiest things in the book. He redeems himself completely and makes up for all the jerkiness at the beginning.
Colin needs to make up for a lot of lost time and not one, but two relationship faux pas. It's a good thing he's a billionaire and persistent. Again, a LOT of chemistry, but also a lot of relationship resolution. Plus, he reads his woman's romance novels so he can't be all bad.
Clay has a really bad night and ends up Las Vegas married to a business associate and the woman he fantasizes about. Except he can't really remember their night together and she's got the marriage certificate so he can't get an annulment. Of course, they have several business meetings together over the next few weeks, so there's plenty of time to get annulled...or not.
And the bonus novella with Kay and Garret was funny and sealed the deal that I'm buying the rest in the series.
All 3.5 books are stand-alone romances (although the characters are in each other's stories). Four Happy Ever After's.
Characters are different. They fall, stumble, grow, develop - the trademarks of relationship longevity. They heal, soothe and support each other, apologize and forgive when necessary or recognize the other's brokenness. Book one was exceptional but I anticipated Heather's story the most. Wealth and status go to the background and the human journey and need for community blazes in the foreground. So it highlights the common element of human experience: trouble and pain and shatters the strongly erected divisions between us. Indeed it showcases that the freedom and independence we hungrily clamour for can blind or destroy true steps to success. Talent and skill and privilege can gain the world but the intimacy of community in all its forms affords us healing, strength, shelter and peace to wholly thrive in it. Thanks for books that are not clones. Congratulations!!!! When the mundane sameness of a saturated market overwhelms, it is good to have something to return to and refresh one's appreciation intelligent use of talent and skill. Thanks again.
Billionaire's Club 1-3. Plus a never seen novella. These books were fanfreakingtastic. Bad Night Stand, Bad Break Up, Bad Husband, and the novella was Bad Date. These stories will make you laugh, cry, and gasp. Total rich alphas that are far from perfect and messy. And the women are badasses as well. I cussed and fussed but I loved every bit of it. An emotional roller coaster ride filled with WTF drama, angst, grit, hope and oh so tingle worthy. A host of characters that will drag you in and won't let go. I'm intrigued, I gotta read the rest of this fabulous series.
Read this set and, as romance-writer-ish as it might sound, it’s a fun, funny, light-hearted series. The characters have depth and personality. The plots aren’t overly contrived, but “maybe it could happen”. The endings are happy and have a feeling of permanence. It was everything I needed for a long holiday weekend where I was recovering from a poorly timed URI. Thank you, Ms. Faber, for the visit with your characters. I look forward to reading more.
Very few authors impress me so I instantly got smitten when I read the Bad Billionaires Box Set 1. It's hilarious, full of friendship, family and love (though not necessarily in that order). Elise expertly weaves in different emotions into the characters that you can't help laughing and crying with them.
Elise Faber is a new author for me. I really like authors who write strong women. This collection had a bounty of them! I especially like she had men reading romance! I plan to pick up more books by this author.
This boxset was great. This is a new author to me. The books sounded good so I nabbed them. Can I say I'm glad. She has some great characters and stories. I tried to pick my fav. But all are.
From the first page to the last three was laughter, sarcasm, one-liners, heat, drama and HEAs. What a riveting read, I had a very hard time putting the book down. Elise has a way with words that draws you in and won't let go.
These are a series of well put together stories, that you keep you entertained. The characters are well described and the sizzling chemistry between Abby and Jordan,CeCe and Colton,Heather and Clay would keep you hooked.
Some pretty fun reads with lots of steamy sex scenes. Definitely romantic with plenty of humorous moments. Love the core group of women who make themselves a family.
This is some really poorly written drivel. No redeeming qualities from the characters in the first book. I didn't bother with the other books. Do yourself a favour a avoid.
They all have fought to stay away from each other. One way or another. They have had rough childhood. But they all want the same thing. Love and their own family
