*spoilerish*

A secret service hottie falling for the person he is protecting is an enticing plot, but unfortunately the story ended up being a little cheesy. Amelia and Devin were both great characters, and the dialogue was perfectly fine, but I think the story should have just ended with them on campus or Devin retiring from the SS, because after the mob found her again the story lost all hope for plausibility. The campus party seemed a little far fetched too: it sounded more like her friends rescued her after someone drugged her than that our sweet, innocent, introvert, who was unwillingly dragged to a party with her textbooks in tow, suddenly would have voluntarily decided to drink way more alcohol than everyone else. Additionally, Amelia would have surely contacted her witness protection handlers after at least the 2nd threatening note, and it seems highly unlikely that after confessing her backstory to Devin that she wouldn’t have told him about the notes too when they kept showing up. And why didn’t she call the police? Plus what kind of idiot would Devin have to be to even temporarily think maybe Amelia only ran away when her door was busted open? Then there is the question of how he could have possibly known which car to follow on which road when he had no idea who took her or where to search? And wtf, has Amelia only been on ONE gravel road in all her life? Call me a country bumpkin, but surely normal people and especially those in the witness protection program end up off the pavement once in a while. And how did Devin’s boss know they were sleeping together when neither Devin nor Amelia said anything?

Regardless, readers who don’t place weight on plausibility and logic will be surely be merrily swept up in the romance and steamy scenes in this otherwise entertaining tale.

Between 2 and 3 stars, rounding up. I did like it, but not enough to really be a solid 3 from me.

Short, steamy novella. Not much character building, so the characters remain a bit flat and immature (rather par for the course with a short story romance), but at the same time, it's still long enough to build some tension and chemistry with our leads. A quick distraction read. The 'forbidden romance' trope isn't my favorite (they tend to push the angst level that I can reasonably handle in my romance stories), but as it was only a short story, it wasn't long enough to really get to me.

There were a lot of things that did bother me. Like the party - she goes to a party in her study clothes (always different for a college girl that her party clothes) and carrying her textbooks, then drinks to the point of blackout drunk, drinking even more than her friends who had intentionally gone to party? And the notes - she really told no one after receiving them? Maybe not after the first one, but she received a handful of them and still didn't ever contact her Witness Protection handlers. Didn't even tell Devin, though she'd told him her whole backstory. With these (and some other) plot points, plus a strong case of insta-love, expect to suspend a good bit of disbelief. If you don't mind not questioning things, then it makes for a quick bit of escapist fluff.

Also, needed some editing/proofreading. Some basic mistakes, wrong word choices. And at one point, the h was referred to as Ariel (the author's name, btw).

And on a minor note that still bothered me nonetheless...
Witness Protection in the US is managed by the US Marshall's Service, not the Secret Service. A simple Google search shows that, and even a casual watcher of crime TV (Law & Order, etc) could tell you that.

1st person alternating POV. Insta-love. No cheating. No OW/OM drama. Not much angst from the relationship - more about the crime she'd witnessed. HEA and no cliffhangers. A short bit of fairly enjoyable, steamy, logic-suspending escapism.

Big and buff tries to protect tiny and delicate without her knowing about it

Witness Protection is a quick little story by Ariel London. It is about a 21 year old woman who has entered Witness Protection after 3 years in protective custody after she saw a man kill everyone in the office that she was interning at. Turns out the guy had mob ties and thus she was guarded and then sent to Oregon where she was entering her first year at University and living in dorms. Without her knowing about it one of her professors is actually a witness protection field agent and is tasked with keeping an eye on her and ensuring she stays safe.

The story had a good premise, as who doesn't like a big, muscular, protective, ex Marine hunk-a hunk-a man trying to keep a vulnerable lovely little lady, who hasn't even been kissed properly, falling into insta-lust and then insta-love. However, this story seemed to not be completed, even for a short. There were several places that I felt the story could have been easily expanded by a paragraph or two to give background or detail that would have added a lot. Then end was also a bit rushed for me and then left us hanging somewhat. One the plus the story was still enjoyable and the writing was good, along with it being told from both main characters POV's which I find is good especially in a short story.. But there were a number of issues that a proofreader should have picked up and corrected right away.

I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Devon is assigned to protect Amelia so he is under cover as a professor at her new college. Amelia is trying to blend in to her new school but she is worried that her past will catch up with her here. She makes a new friend and even though she doesn't really want to she goes to a party. However when she wakes up she isn't in her dorm room and ends up being at her college professor's place. Devon knows that its wrongs to get involved with Amelia but he can't help himself. Amelia only feels safe when she is will Devon so soon they are romantically involved with each other. But what will she do when she starts getting threats from her past? Can Devon keep her safe?

This is a great story that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

A fast paced read. It leaves you wanting more. I wish the story was a bit longer to get more into the background and the lives of Amelia and Devon. Amelia is in witness protection, and Devon is assigned to protect her and he is assigned as her professor. Devon is drawn to her as soon as he sees her photo and once he sees her in his class that is it he has to have her at all costs. Their relationship is taboo for so many reasons, he is her teacher, he is assigned to protect her. Will he be able to keep his secret? What is Amelia do when she finds out? The characters were likeable, great chemistry. A good read.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Devin and Amelia. She's in the witness protection after her whole office was killed. She's still in hiding since the mob was involved. Now she's going to college and still having nightmares. Devin was a Marine but is currently in secret service. They have assigned him a case to protect a young woman who is on protection. When he doesn't expect is to fall for her. They have a whirlwind romance but keep it secret, he's a "professor" and she's a student. Finally she gets a HEA after so much trauma.

I found this to be a quick but very steamy read. It could have been a little longer and I would have had even more to like.

Amelia is in witness protection and Devin is the Secret Service agent assigned to protect her. After he feels the chemistry between them, what better way to protect her than to keep her with him forever.

This is my first time reading this author and I enjoyed this book. It’s a quick enjoyable read that left me wanting more, so I shall be looking this author up to see what else she’s written. The characters are good, and they have some good dialogue between them. There’s lots of action and steam in this book, an enjoyable way to spend an hour or so.

A fast paced story which is a mix of love, chemistry, lies, crime, secrets, grief and a forbidden/taboo aspect to the story. It's an interesting if somewhat predictable storyline, but the writing flows well and Amelia and Devin are likeable characters.

This book was good, not great. I think if the book was longer it could have been so much better. Amelia is in witness protection and Devin is there to protect her. But things do not stay professional for long. This book is super hot and steamy. One hot little read is how I would describe it.

Amelia was under witness protection and Devin was the special agent covering her. Story was good and characters were strongly portrayed. Even if Devin wasn’t very nice in the beginning, he made up for it later. Good sexy read!

. This book was nice ,easy read. Too short ,to my liking. I think if the book was longer it could develop more depth to it.
Amelia is in witness protection and Devin is there to protect her. Will he when things do not stay professional or will he put her at risk?
This book is super hot and steamy.

I tried, I really did (spoilers)

The plot made no sense. He’s witness protection but isn’t tracking her phone, hoven the most visible job on campus, put him in faculty housing not to mention their ridiculous relationship and mental commentary it was like every romance novel trope and catchphrase of the last 30 years smashed into the two characters inner dialogue made no sense

I wasn't too impressed with this book. It kept jumping around and some scenes didn't make sense to me. The characters were okay but I didn't feel like we knew them very well.

I really enjoyed this story. The storyline was sweet and entertaining, and the characters were likable. However there were a fair few grammatical errors, that perhaps put a little bit of a damper on the story.

There is nothing wrong with this book, it just left me feeling blah. There were many times where I thought, "okay, here we go," but then the idea, action, passion, etc., fell flat. Others may enjoy this book more than I did, and that's great!

Not a bad book definitely short definitely has a lot of spice there is a backstory but I would say the back story is not in the forefront of what's going on it's mainly the romance and things of that nature.
