Miranda Melton kissed her three-year-old daughter, Laura, at bedtime and never saw her again. Accusing her husband of hiding their daughter, Miranda is stunned when Robert discloses Laura is not missing. He reveals she died a year ago, and the devastating trauma has caused Miranda to suppress the poignant memory. Suspicious of her husband, Miranda confronts her psychiatrist with Robert's accusation. Dr. Ames confirms Laura's death while divulging shattering details Miranda refuses to believe. Desperate to find her daughter, Miranda realizes she must recall the last moments she had spent with Laura. When fragmented memories unveil disturbing events from her past, Miranda questions her maternal instincts. Will she abandon her search or discover the only deception surrounding Laura's disappearance is the lie she is concealing from herself?
Dawn has a gift of bringing to you characters that make you love to hate them. This story had more than one. The story pulls at your heart strings from the very beginning. There are lots of twists in the story that keep you reading and wondering if what you read was right. At the end, I was torn with how to feel. It wasn't the happy ending I was expecting but it turned out just the way it needed. I highly recommend this book.
"Finding Laura" kept me engaged from the minute I "walked" into the kitchen that Dawn described in details until the last page. I am currently reading "Something's not right with Lucy" another of Dawn's books. Also a terrific book. Dawn's "Unraveled Ties" is waiting to be read. I have to get through these books so I will be ready for Dawn's up coming new release that incorporates characters of these books into one. Once you start reading Dawn's writings you will not want to stop!
Such a good read! A bit slow at first but soon the speed picked up and kept up throughout until it reached a satisfactory ending. A clean and exciting story, which is a combination that is hard to find, and one that I appreciate. I look forward to reading more from this author.
Ms. Taylor has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I don't want to give the story away but if you are looking for a riveting read that will tear at your heart, Finding Laura is it.
I really like all the twists and turns in this story because it kept me guessing. This book was hard to put down. It also made it to my favorites list.
