Royal Flush: A Belizean Mystery

Rate this book
This is the fourth mystery novel featuring the two eccentric residents of the northern Belize community of Paradise Shores; Canadian Millicent (Millie) Helmsworth, wife of a retired diplomat and her American friend and neighbour, retired nurse, Mabel Doyle. The wife of the new Chinese baker in town, asks Mabel for help in finding her brother who had disappeared a year earlier. The brother, a well-known gambler, also happened to own a house in Paradise Shores. Failure to find him or at least return the money he had borrowed from a ruthless loan shark from Macau, China (the Las Vegas of Asia) before Chinese New Year, would result in her death. In the process of searching for the missing man, Millie and Mabel become informed of the history and culture of the Chinese in Belize, as well as some of the perils of the gambling world. The stakes are high in this exhilarating adventure that takes them to the Duty Free Zone at the Mexican border, Belize City, Belmopan and Sarteneja. In process of searching for the missing man, they inadvertently put others in danger and narrowly escape with their own lives.
