The Sweetest Things is book one in the Starlight Harbor Series by Bria Quinlan. This is my very first book by Bria. It was simply adorable. She had me falling in love with the characters before the end of the first chapter.
Spence Cote lives in upstate New York and runs a travel blog called Roadside Adventures. It’s a snarky blog that he is hoping to soon sell to get himself out of debt. Spence has a top ten tacky tiny towns list and he has put Starlight Harbor on that list for four years running. Even though he’s never physically visited there.
Lyra Grigor has lived her entire life in Starlight Harbor, Maine. She loves her town and the residents within. Lyra owns and runs the town bakery, The Sweetest Things. When she sees her town on the tacky tiny towns list, again, she’s had it. So she lets everyone know how she feels when she comments on the blog. Only, it seems this wasn’t the smartest move because hundreds of people commented and her ratings plummeted. This bakery was everything to her. Now what was she going to do?
When Spence realized what happened, he thought he should travel to Starlight Harbor, apologize to the little old lady that he assumes owns the bakery, and then head back. His first surprise was that there was no little old lady. There was an adorable, little blonde that stole the words right out of him. He had to make this right somehow. So he decides to stay in Starlight Harbor for a few days and get to know this little town, and the cute little baker.
Spence never really thought he was unhappy before in his life until he came here and realized what happiness really felt like. How could this little town feel like home in only a couple of days? It felt like he was where he was supposed to be. And that Lyra was part of that. The more time he spends with her, the more he knows he doesn’t want to go back to the way things were before, he doesn’t want to leave.
This was the sweetest little book. This town is freaking adorable. There is something very special about what they do there but I don’t want to give that away. Prepare to get hungry because there is plenty of talk about cupcakes, cookies, scones, and all sorts of sugary wonders. Spence and Lyra were so cute. I would classify this as a clean romance. There are no sexy times. I didn’t really miss it though. The next book in the series will be Lyra’s best friend, Vivian and Cam’s story. I can’t wait!

Lyra runs a cupcake shop in sweet, small-town Starlight Harbor, Maine. When she receives a bad review from online blogger Spencer that tanks her ratings on Yelp, she’s steamed and fires back online. Spencer drives out to Maine to apologize and it’s love at first sight. Between swishy skirts, delicious baked goods, and one charming old lighthouse, this was a cute lighthearted novella.

Bria Quinlan is one of my favorite authors and I was delighted to receive an advanced reader copy of her new series set in starlight harbor Maine. It pretty much made my day when it popped into my inbox.
I liked the unique premise of what brings the hero and heroine of this story together. It’s a perfect meet up and different than other books I’ve read. There are sparks upon first site of each other. I loved that he was expecting to talk to a grandmotherly baker and got caught off guard. I equally adored watching the “follow all the rules” main character branch out just a bit and be swept off her feet.
This author does such a great job of describing what is going on that I always feel like I can picture everything in my mind. By the end I truly wanted to visit Starlight Harbor, Maine and I was totally invested in finding out what happens to the other characters. I’m excited to read about Cam and Vivian. I love the light touches of humor woven throughout.
One aspect of the male lead of the story that I didn’t care for was that he hadn’t actually been basing his current blog on facts. It made it a wee bit hard for me to respect him although he overcame it by the end. I also wish that their love story was a bit more drawn out and the conflict a little heavier and harder to resolve. This is a fairly quick read but longer than a novella.
Overall I loved the book. I will definitely be reading the next books In the series. If I hadn’t read any of Bria’s books before I’d start with the Brew Ha Ha Series Because those books still hold first place in my heart. This is a great book to take to the beach. Happy reading!

This was a cute read! I enjoyed the setting, story and characters. I’ve visited Maine a few times which made this picturesque town easy to imagine. A fun start to a new series. Full review to come.

The middle of the story was super sweet, but the beginning and end... *sigh* Not one, but two Big Misunderstandings (really not my cup of tea) and Lyra going off half-cocked and making assumptions really frustrated me. But the middle was really cute and I liked the town and secondary characters.

Awesome story. Kyra doesn’t appreciate her town being put on the ten most tackiest. She plans a sweet revenge. Light hearted, not to be missed book.

When Lyla reads finds her town on Roadside Adventure's list of Top Ten Tacky Towns for the fourth year in a row, she has had enough! She let it slide the first three times, but Lyla is not going to standby as Starlight Harbor, Maine is besmirched. Again.
Lyla is usually easy-going and incredibly sweet, when her anger spews all over the internet, the internet trolls fight back. Suddenly Lyla is flooded with prank calls, and her online reviews for her bakery are tanked. The owner of Roadside Adventures, Spence, thinks she got what she deserved for starting a fight online, but he also doesn't want to be sued by an angry cupcake making granny, he sets off to Starlight Harbor to do some damage control, and finds way more than he bargained for.
I loved Starlight Harbor! Lyla was so fiercely protective of her town, and I fell in love with it as I saw it through her eyes. It's quirky, and so unbelievably caring. Lyla was hilarious. I could relate to her, as someone who usually doesn't rock the boat. Spence was misguided and clueless, but altogether a good man. I loved watching him find his way as the people of Starlight Harbor took him under their wings.
This is a promising new series from Bria Quinlan with the humor and snark that I loved in her Brew Ha Ha series, a sweet romance, and a whole lot of heart. I can't wait to see more of these characters, see the influence for good that Starlight Harbor has on people, and understand why an old lady goes around dressed as a tavern wench with a pirate pup.

Starlight Harbor has an amazing mission to help military members who don’t get to celebrate Christmas. I LOVE THIS!!! Plus, the hero and heroine are great as is the sparks that fly between them. And the secondary cast…y’all, I’m banking on their stories to come soon and with a quickness so I can revisit Starlight Harbor.
All in all, another great read from Ms. Quinlan!

(3.5 stars) - holding on to hope
This is a cute story, though it's a bit on the superficial side developmentally. A nice read for passing the time, but easy to put down & come back to later. Wish it was as engaging & entertaining as her Brew Ha Ha series - hopefully this one will successively grow better as that one did.

Finished this book in a day, with real life intruding. Hahaha. This is such a cute story. Sweet too. Lyra makes me want to jump in and try her baked goodies. And Spence makes me want to have his job. And love how they just fit well together.
No steamy scenes, but it’s ok to skip those every now and then.

It's been a while since I read "a Bria book", but I got immediately sucked in again with all the little details I love about her writing.
Despite all their quirks, the characters feel real, they mean well, but they still mess up, and they are all just so darn likeable I couldn't help but root for them from page one.
Lyra is a funny (and formidable) heroine, and Spence might start out as the master of misconceptions, but he manages to get his head (and heart) sorted out - with a little help of Lyra's awesome gang of friends.
There is just enough drama to provide tension, but it's not over the top. The story made me smile and laugh and swoon and now I'm officially in love with Starlight Harbor and its charming and quirky inhabitants.
I'd like to put on record that I'd pretty-please-with-buttercream-and-chocolate-sprinkles-on-top like to preorder the whole series *right now*. I want to read ALL the stories! Vivian and Cam and Skye and Noah and Jamie and all the folks I haven't even met yet... <3

I'm calling a realtor and moving to Starlight Harbor. Such a cute town with an adorable history, loving friends and a fabulous bakery. I needed this sweet clean honest romance, a lovely break from the billionaire storylines and motorcycle clubs. We met Lyra and Spence but there are plenty of young single people to couple up. I received an early copy and have written this review voluntarily.

I adore the Brew-Ha-Ha series from this author so I was very excited about this, but it didn't have as much charm or humor. It's quite short, a love story that takes place literally in a weeks time.
Lyra, who clearly doesn't understand how the internet works, made the problem so much worse than it would have been! Then at the end, she causes another misunderstanding, and I kind of hoped Spence would just peace out at that point. But Spence was very sweet, almost too good to be true, and he just rolled with the punches where Lyra was concerned.
I feel like if the book had been longer, more of the charming town stuff and the supporting characters would have stood out a little more.

I was given this book by the author for an honest review.
I am not sure where to begin with this book except to say it landed in my lap during a much needed time. I needed some light. I needed some sweet. I needed a delicious buttercream frosting cupcake that only Lyra and Spencer could provide.
This book is ab-so-lute adorable fun. It is insta-hateish love??? Is this a thing? I dunno but Bria did it and I loved it. This book has banter…lawd the banter between Lyra, the harmed town baker and Spencer, the journalist and or Mob Boss??? I loved the town history and why they do the Christmas celebrations year-round. I loved how the town rallied behind Lyra when she was throwing Spencer out of town…Angie and her dog did make me smile A LOT.
I was reading this book and laughing so much. The townspeople are nuts but in the best dang possible way. Lyra and Spencer and both head over heels about the other but pride keeps them at bay from admitting feelings pluuuuuus they aren’t really sure if feelings are reciprocated.
I had the best couple of hours reading and admit I might grab the next book in the series just because I wanna see how Cam is going to win Vi. She is a disgruntled female who is going to be wooed in a biiiiiiiiig way.
But honestly this book was just a fun read. It’s a good book when you just need some happiness or feel good in your life. Don’t we all need and want some happiness and feel good!!??

All it took was one comment on a blog site to set Lyra off, she didnt know what she was getting herself into but noone was going to tarnish her business or small town as long as she was around. After the comment on his site Spence thought he should drive all night to Starlight Habor and apologize to the older lady who owns the bakery there and threated to sue him if he didnt fix it. well little did he knew he was walking into the shop of a 5 foot 4 spitfire that wasnt backing down until her little town was righted. Once Spence say Lyra it was game over he was love struck and had really opened his eyes and fell in love with the small town and even more with the bakery owner. but will this riff bring them together or with Lyra listening in on a phone call Spence was having ruin them. Fall in love with this small town the spat between Lyra and Spence and even Captain Jack (you will need to read to find out) but this was such a sweet story and a fast read.

Set in a small town bakery with a Christmas feature and iced sugar cookies, the tale of Lyra and Spence couldn’t be anything other than sweet.
We were gradually introduced to the scenes and some of the characters of Starlight Harbour, the basis of a new series featuring slightly neurotic but ultimately loveable, flawed but normal characters.
I think a trip to Starlight Harbour is worth the effort, and quite possibly worth hanging around to see what happens next.
For those who would prefer to know, the book is fairly clean. Only very mild language (the first insult is “That…words, words, words man.” Yes, Lyra uses “words” instead of an actual insult) and just a couple of kisses and near-kisses.
I am leaving this review after reading a free ARC, but I would have picked up this book anyway after falling in love with Bria’s Brew Ha Ha series.

A really cute, funny, sweet love story
Bria Quinlan has a very appealing style with cute, emotional, smart central characters. This is another book that will keep you smiling throughout and was hard to put down. The story of a petite beautiful baker with a passionate disposition who contacts a website owner because of his continuing listing of her small town on a “Tacky Small Town List”. She loves her town and bakery and defends them in he post on his website. This leads to her business being attacked on line. Spence, the website owner wants diffuse the situation after she threatens to sue him. When he arrives in town the spark fly and the humorous sweet story unfolds. I would highly recommend the book if you like humor and romance.

A fun, light read with plenty of verbal sparring. Lyra and Spence are very cute together and the book has plenty of awkward twists and beautiful friendships that make this the perfect summer read. This book is a very clear step away from the deeper themes of the Brew Ha Ha series and not to forget, the RVHS secrets series but with Bria one never knows where the next book will lead. Awaiting the sequel with much anticipation!

Love the cover art! This is Bria’s new series. I received and Advanced Reader’s Copy.
This book is relevant to this time period where social media and reviews of everything can be found everywhere. I love the new characters (I previously read her Brew Haha series-it’s great). This book is fine for a teenager to read, though the characters are adults. There is very little (if any) language and no “heat.” I can’t wait to see where this series goes.
