Alta Hensley is a NYT & USA Today bestselling author of dark romance where the villain always gets the happily ever after.

Twisted, clever, and occasionally unhinged, her books deliver morally gray anti-heroes, sharp-tongued heroines, and happily ever afters that taste even sweeter after a little ruin. With a signature blend of grit, wit, and heat, Alta’s stories prove one thing: Villains deserve love too.

Alta lives on the foggy coast of Oregon with her husband, two daughters, and a pair of dogs who think they’re in charge. When she’s not writing redemption for the irredeemable, she’s walking the coastline or sipping craft beer in eccentric little bars that feel like they belong in her books.

Look, I’m willing to read some weird things but this wasn’t it. There was nothing attractive about any of these scenarios (and I say that as someone used to this genre). It may be for other people, but it’s certainly not for me.

Well, this a compilation of… straight up porn. I downloaded the book randomly two years ago, and it was my mistake not to look into the book first before reading it. I even thought it was about angels and redemption (which some of it actually was, in an awkward way).

Fallen Daughters is a collection of short stories about taboos and dark romance. There were 6 “daughters” with different storylines, and each of them were hot and entertaining to read. I know there is no shame in reading erotica, and even though it feels shy for me to discuss about it, I need to say that the author wrote the book well. This is like one of those Pornhub videos that you would get hooked into because of the plot itself and not of the sex scenes.

REVIEW OF STORY #1:
I am very resistant to insta-love stories. I have to really feel convinced that the connection is genuine, and I definitely didn’t feel that here. The female main character not only succumbs to her kidnapper insanely quickly but was begging for him on the very first day in captivity! Not at all believable!!! Aside from that, it’s a good story & the sex is super hot!!! If you’re looking for a quick BDSM romance, you’ll love this story!!

This is a collection of signature shorts by Ms. Hensley.
There are 6 short stories- some you may have read in previously in an anthology, some may be new to readers. These are dark, raw , intense and taboo.
Each story features sisters and stories take place in the future and after a apocalypse and then others takes you back in the past. The stories have range of emotions and feels that will have you the edge of your seat and keeping the lights on. Another great read from Alta Hensley!!

Quick summary of these excellent stories

I thought these short stories were some of the greatest dark erotic stories I've read maybe ever. The description above doesn't let you know anything about each one so here's a quick run down
Daughter 1 - After betraying her boss Esme is kidnapped and handed over to a "Monster of Mercy" where she must obey to pay pretence for her wrong doings.
Daughter 2 - In a world where all females 25 and under are collected and sent to a place where a trainer is sent to break them. But what happens when the female is already broken?
Daughter 3 - Transported to a planet where True is to because a slave. Death is a certainty. Taking her there is a set of twins, one who can love and the other who can only hate. Will she make it to her destination or will they tear her apart before she even gets there?
Daughter 4 - Birdie has never known a day of love in her entire life and now due to her father's shady dealings she will be the payment for his misdeeds. Is there anyone out there to be her white knight or will she always be unlovable?
Daughter 5 - Jessa is kidnapped and dragged to an encampment filled with madness and black souled men. Can she escape her new hell before she is killed?
Daughter 6 - In a post apocalyptic world Hanna searches for a place named 'The Church" where a man named Father Dane is supposed to deliver her from the trappings of her mortal coil. But who really is this father Dane?
These stories were amazing. Each one was completely different to the next. The writing was excellent and the plots were unique
I didn't find any errors while reading. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has a taste for the darkness.
* warning - there is forced submission, spanking, and mild violence. If this works for you definitely gets this book. If not you might want to check out one of her other books.
P.S. I totally want another anthology. I loved this!!!

The daughters in question aren't necessarily the female main characters in the story as much as they are the stories themselves. All 6 of these stories are ones that Alta Hensley either wrote and put into a boxset and then incorporated into other books, or ones that she wrote that she just hadn't done much of anything with as of yet. That's what makes the title so awesome. Plus, none of the female main characters have an easy life at all, so that fits the title too.

I've read most of these before, and I can tell you which anthology they were in, mostly, and I could probably even tell you, in a couple of cases, which places some of story was incorporated into other books. Did that ruin my enjoyment of any of them? Nope.

As with any short story collection, there are always going to be favorites. My favorites are #1 and #4. I read #4 for the first time a couple of years ago, and it really stuck with me. It's just such an interesting way to show that you have lost someone so important to you. #1 is just filthy and hot, which is what makes me like it so much.

I'm glad that Alta Hensley gathered these all together in one spot, because they should all be with their sisters.

OMG! These 6 Fallen Daughters stories were so awesome and drew me in to want to read and read some more until they were finished. I had a recollection of 2 of these stories from previous anthologies or collections but I was so excited to reacquaint myself to them and read the other "new to me" stories.
Alta Hensley writes characters that touch the readers hearts and makes the reader cheer them on. She touches on subjects that are taboo or deemed as "should not be written about" and makes the reader feel and see these subjects in a different light.

Meh

Most of these stories speak of redemption rather than falling--each woman finds a place to belong, even if it's not what mainstream society would approve of. The darkest part of this book is that most of the stories have a dystopian setting, but the people aren't all that dark. As is the danger of short stories, the characterization is very flat and the plots tend toward the formulaic.

I didn't quite care for this book. When I first got the ARC, I wasn't aware that this was meant to be the "test the waters" compilation of stories. It is exactly what it says it is. If you've read Alta's other books, you'll be familiar with the scenes in the book. This would be really redundant for you to read. If you are are new to Alta, then this would be a good book to gauge whether you like her writing. As for me, I would have rather read a full fledged book.

A little something for all

This book is an Intruiging set of stories with varying levels of "dark" story lines all set in in a variey of backgrounds with captured women and the men who captured them. How will each story end, will their be a victor, victims or victory. Dark and twisted they will pull you in and not let you go until the last page.

DNF halfway through #3. Not a fan of short stories and these were also short on plots.

Fallen Daughters by Alta Hensley is a compilation of 6 short stories set in different genres from modern drama to science fiction. Ms. Hensley admits in the introduction that the stories are either from anthologies, or the basis from her other books and I did recognize or read previously most of them; that did not detract from the book however.

These are dark stories, but most do have a fairly happy ending; with a very notable exception in the final story.  All of the heroines endure harrowing experiences and all of the heroes have their own demons; these stories aren't for the faint of heart.

Most of the stories involve power exchange with explicit sex and language.  I'm also putting a trigger warning, so please be advised.  Even with the "happy endings," you won't get any warm, fuzzy feelings from this book, so don't read if you don't like the dark.

The stories are very well written and the plots never feel sparse even within the short story genre.  I recommend the book.

I was given an ARC from Booksprout in exchange for my unbiased review.

This is a collection of 6 dark shorts; introductions to some of Alta Henley's worlds. If you are new to her, this would be a fabulous way to discover her brilliant writing style and her steamy dark reads. If you are an avid fan, you have probably read these before, which I am and have. Even knowing that I had read these scenes before I was excited to get my hands on this collection because as much as I love reading the full length stories I don't always have time. This collection gave me the perfect reading material for the moments I was sitting in my car waiting for one of my children. If I worked I would say it's the perfect read for a week of lunch breaks. Either way, the wonderful strong women, the dark alpha males, and the beautifully depicted scenes brought me immense satisfaction.

This is a collection of signature "Hensley" shorts.
The overall theme is women that are seemingly doomed to a life under the thumb of their tormentors. While some of the latter meet their deserved end, others turn into saviors, even lovers. Through unbearable loss and blissful ecstasy the women grow to find their hidden strengths and desires.
The stories take you from a Mafia-like environment to a post-apocalyptic world, to a tiny country town and on to a devastated planet somewhere in space, and then to american hill country into a nightmare community, until at last you end up in the middle of a pandemic inferno.
All of them are a spellbinding, divers read.
Un-put-down-able!!

I believe there are about 6 short stories in the book. So far I have only read the first, but it was not bad.
The story did include some spankings and some awkward/humiliating moments, which caused me to have to push myself to finish the story. I am on of those that gets emotionally involved in the stories and I was feeling all the awkwardness involved, but it was still alright.
I am still planning on reading the rest of the stories. There seems to be a bit of a variety here -- at least that is what it seems like. I guess we shall see.
*Might update on the others stories as I read along*

As the introduction to this book explains, these are short stories and are included as teasers into the authors other (full length) books. Each section of the book (Called Fallen Daughter #1, Fallen Daughter #2, etc) contains a number of chapters making each mini-story self-contained & quickly finished. There are no cliffhangers & you do not need to be familiar with the author, each section is standalone. However, the content of the stories will not be to everyone's tastes. It is dark, often brutal (both physically & mentally) & doesn't contain much 'happy'. This book is full of emotion, it just may not be for everyone.

Very Dark Romance Compilation
There are six heroines in this compilation of six short stories. These heroines find themselves in some harrowing experiences. Alta is able to portray the women in both a strong and a vulnerable light. With Alta’s writing you almost believe you are in the scene with the characters. There are some very dominant and dark Alpha males in these stories. Some you are going to love and others you might love to hate. There are some pretty steamy and salacious scenes, domestic discipline, and non-con and dub-con scenes so if you are not into that you might not like this story.

This was a wonderful collection and I loved all the stories with the exception of the last one which I didn’t like at all. All the others had a common theme of a captured woman who is subjugated but who is also so strong that she not only overcomes but also finds love and redemption for her lover. It is not sickly sweet and it is believable and satisfying. The last story however had no redemption and made me feel nauseated but if you like apocalyptic zombie stories you will like this one too. All in all a great read.

A collection of 6 stories, each dark and disturbed. I recall reading one of them in an anthology and knew the others wouldn't disappoint. There were moments of familiarity that I recalled from other stories from this author, a secret nod to some of my favorite books. Each of the six 'daughters' had me flipping pages, I couldn't wait to see where each of the short stories ended up. From one daughter to the next, all the way to the final one, each story held my attention and a few of them I wish were a bit longer, I wasn't ready for it to be the end of their stories.

Fallen Daughters are six short stories that were previously in anthologies. The books range from dark and twisted to being in bad relationships and falling in love. Fallen Daughters is all about the ladies being the slaves and submitting to the guys who are their trainers. In some of the stories the men are trying to help the ladies.

A collection of short stories by Alta Hensley. Some you might have read in a anthology, but others might be new to you.

There are stories taking place in the futura and after a apocalypse and another one takes you back in the past. They are stories of strong heroines, who fight for a better life and a better feature and don’t give up. Some of the man are good, others not so.

It is a beautiful, dark, heartbreaking and sexy set of stories.

I recognized most of these stories. and i loved them when i first read them and i loved them now. Only the last story was a little out there for me but if you like zombie stories youll like that one. Each has a strong female character who live through crazy ordeals and may or not end up with the handsome hero. These stories are great and definatly worth the read

Great collections of short stories.
Fallen Daughters is an enjoyable read.
It had me turning the pages to read what would happen next.
The women in these novellas are trying to deal with what life has dealt them.
Most will overcome and find their heroes.
All the stories differ greatly in settings and time.
But the common thread is strong women who fight for what they want and better futures.
Exciting page turning stories.

I really loved reading these short stories. They were all so different yet all so Alta lol. They were quick reads you felt like you start in the morning read at lunch and can't wait for the ending after dinner. The last story though l couldn't;t decide if I loved or it. I guess that's the true tell of a good author. I always look forward to reading her books and I can't wait for the next.

Loved the concept of this book. It is a collection of Alta’s stories. Some that either was never published or became a part of a bigger story. She called these her fallen daughters. Loved reading this collection. I am a fairly new reader to her so it was nice to have all these tasty little reads in my hot little hands. Alta’s stories are often shocking but intriguing making this a quick steamy read.

So...I don't know what to rate this as. I was lured to this book because of its mysterious synopsis to find that it's a collection of chapters sectioned off at a time to accommodate them with different characters, their stories all erotic and dark. This book is certainly out of my comfort zone, it's not something I would generally read, and it's something I wouldn't come back to again, but it's something new I tried at least.
