2010 Bronte Prize Finalist! In a small town, everyone knows everything about everybody. Or do they? For twenty years, Kate Doyle has been haunted by the night when she was forced to flee from her tiny Virginia home town and abandon her childhood sweetheart, Reed Fitzgerald. So when Kate, now in her mid-30s, escapes her unhappy life in Washington, DC and takes a much-needed vacation, the last thing she expects is to be reunited with Reed. Now, under the warm clear Caribbean sun, amid ancient churches and pink flamingos, Kate and Reed seek to revive the love that they thought was gone forever. But will small-town secrets ruin their last chance for happiness? Woven into the modern tale of Kate and Reed are the tales of those who came before them. Their teenagers in the chaotic 1960s, best friends who are in love with the same man although only one of them knows it. Reed's already a bitter old woman by the 1930s, she would do anything to carry on the family name...and
You might not think that an addiction to television would inspire a career in writing, but that is exactly what happened with me. When I was about six years old, my mother “encouraged” me to turn off the TV and pick up a book by offering to pay me two cents for every page I read. It was an unusual strategy, but it worked: soon I was a bona fide book junkie (thanks Mom!). Of course, it wasn't long before I graduated from reading to writing. I write multiple genres of closed-door romance, including small town family sagas with a touch of mystery, romantic suspense, and even a dash of paranormal.

This was an engaging story of a couple who loved each other as teens but were separated by circumstances out of their control and misinterpreted on both sides. When they reunite after 20 years, there's a lot of baggage to unpack, but the sparks between them are still there.
The author skillfully weaves stories from their parents and grandparents into a satisfying saga of love, lust, secrets, and hometowns.
I loved the way the author weaved three generations of the families together. Some times when you have flashbacks it's easy to get lost this book wasn't like that.

I am not a fan of going back in time to complete the future story so this does color my opinion. While the story unfolds in a unique way, the conflict that Kate feels after 20 years feels very hard to believe. Many of the characters held no real purpose in fleshing out the plot but only seemed to fill in a few scenes to make them more palatable. I congratulate anyone confident enough to write a book because I could never do that.
This book drew me in from the moment I picked it up! It’s a well written romance novel that keeps you on your toes with multiple other interesting story lines that are woven together beautifully to give the story extra depth. The chapters did jump around, but it was done in a way that was easy to follow without getting confused or needing to go back. I highly recommend this book!
Well-written saga that deftly intertwines the past with the present. The characters’ flaws, lightness or darkness of heart and soul, or a combination of the two, were a revelation. Beautifully crafted. Highly recommended.
First book I read by this author and it was a thoroughly enjoyable romance. It didn’t fall into the chiches of a billionaire romance and the intertwining history really added to it all.
I thoroughly enjoyed this light romance. This is a story of two childhood sweetheart who were separated by circumstances and then came together accidentally when they met on a cruise ship. Of course there is no such thing as coincidences so then meeting between Kate and the now wealthy Reed was actually engineered. This is a story of misunderstanding, jealousy, star-crossed lovers, and a little bit of mystery. But sometimes a little romance is just what you need.
Homesong is a love story with secrets and mysteries that span over several generations. Misha Crews has created some wonderful characters in this can't-put-down tale set in Virginia. I'm sure others will fall in love with her characters the way I did!
I read this book back some time toward the end of 2013. Going back to it now, it took some time to remember what the story was about. Once I remembered it, I remember that I liked it a lot. However, I am giving it one less star, as I guess it was not as memorable as I had thought.
Cute, romance-type novel. I always like a story that alternates between the present and the past, and you're not sure how they will weave it together. however, some pretty cheesy dialogue.
