It's that old Pooh book formula where Pooh has a problem -- getting no mail, in this case -- and wanders around the Hundred Acre Wood meeting his friends one by one until they all end up at a party. Still, simply for the delightful instruction sheet, "Growing an Oak Tree in Your Own Backyard," the book gets three stars.

And it may not be canon, but we find out Owl's uncle who "went to sea in a pea-green boat" is named Clyde Owl and he is now married to Tabitha Pussycat. Also, Kanga has a sister named Mrs. Kangaroo, and Eeyore has a brother named Seymour.

(My Pooh Project: I love Winnie the Pooh, and so does my wife. Having a daughter gave us a chance to indoctrinate her into the cult by buying and reading her every Pooh book we came across. How many is that? I’m going to count them this year by reading and reviewing one every day and seeing which month I finally run out. Track my progress here:

Art Style: Bright
Topic/ Theme: Friendship
Setting:The Hundred Acre Wood

Pooh’s Mailbox is an interact read in the style of Janet & Allan Ahlberg’s The Jolly Postman, or Other People's Letters using A.A. Milne’s beloved characters. There is a decent variety in the interactive items and the way they are packaged. From a game delivered to Tigger to a recipe delivered to Kanga. The characters and their received items are used well. The art styles are slightly different for each and well-aligned. This is perhaps not a particularly durable book, with the paper being perhaps easy to lose or damage particularly given the target audience. But given the target audience for some durability is not a great concern. This a book I have a fondness for both because of my love for the Ahlberg’s and the Winnie the Pooh characters.

It is worth noting that the book was published in 1998, while it is likely still in print (due to the mouse and it’s greed) I’m not sold on how long it will be easily accessible for children. I only say this due to mail in some countries, like my own, becoming less of a common sight as digital takes over.

I love the fact that there was little letter illustrations in this book! It was a cute fun read for my daughter and I.

A great interactive pooh book, each character gets mail that you can take out and look at (ex. a birthday invitation, a new board game) that is part of the story.

After we read this book, Anna insisted that we go check my mailbox. When there was nothing in there (it was Sunday) she said, "Like Pooh's box!"

I read this a TON when I was younger, and I just can't seem to get rid of it. The fact that it 1) is Winnie the Pooh and 2) is interactive....... LOVE IT
