The sixth Magic Kitten title in this charming new series. Flame is prince and heir to the Lion throne but he is not yet strong enough to stand up to the evil uncle who killed his parents and is trying to claim Flame's throne for his own. Flame must hide in the human world as a kitten but can't stay in any place for too long for fear of his uncle finding him. So Flame travels from family to family in various kitten guises using his, often chaotic, magic spells to help those who need it along the way. Sadie is so excited to be attending the local circus youth group, especially since she seems to have a real talent for all the acrobatics! Sadie's best friend Jenny, isn't quite as good as Sadie and becomes jealous and cold towards her. Sadie really doesn't know what to do until she finds a lonely coal black kitten...
Sue was born in Northampton where she still lives. For many years she worked for Northamptonshire libraries and remains a passionate supporter of Public Libraries. Sue loves everything about books, the feel of them, their smell. the way they look. And has a habit of matching a bookmark to the cover of each book she's reading. The process of reading, the feel of the book, carrying it around in her shoulder bag, sitting in favourite cafes reading all make for a complete sensory experience. Browsing bookshops old and new, talking all things bookish with other book lovers, spending time with other writers and meeting with fans of her own books at author events are her favourite things. That and eating good quality dark chocolate, while writing.
Told my 12 year old brother I was in a reading rut and he gave me this. Truly the best thing I’ve ever read… the adventures of Flame… riveting… if you are looking for true literature, read the circus kitten…

This is my sixth-grade school review so I NOW decided to test if this is a usual review. Please do not read if you don't read (former) kid's reviews.
Magic Kitten: A Circus Wish by Sue Bentley This story is likely to be set in a city, where ten-year-old Sadie Allen and her best friend, Jenny Coleman, live. Sadie loves the new circus workshop and youth club set out by Lena Tomani, a twelve-year-old circus performer. She hopes to work in the circus one day. But Jenny doesn’t enjoy it as much as she does. Soon Sadie finds Flame, a magical kitten, who is really a lion prince! She really wants to keep him. But one problem: her dad’s allergic to cats! Then she and Jenny start fighting. Can Flame help Sadie and Jenny’s friendship get back on track? Can Sadie find a way to keep Flame? I rate this book 5 stars. It is a cute and short story. I think young girls aged 7-10 and cat-lovers would enjoy this story.

This was a book that has been passed onto me and since I haven't read any of the first five books of the series I have no idea what I was getting into with this book, which is number six.
A Circus Wish starts off with basically a Prologue that does't seem to really relate at first glance to the world of the book that we have just picked up as it is some type of fantasy realm in which there are a bunch of incorrectly colored lions who can apparently magically turn themselves into cats. And really who would have ever thought to have named a white lion Flame?
From there the story's first two chapters set the stage for the plot of the rest of the story while introducing the other main characters in the book as well as the issue they will be facing. There is no mention of any previous events from any of the other prior books in the series nor does the book really end on a cliffhanger that will lead to the next book thus the reader who may be averse to all books that must be written in a series can read it as a standalone as long as they don't really care to know what occurs to Flame in the other books.
What made this book rather interesting is that it was written in the first half of the 2000s when cell phones came out but the events of the story (such as sneaking out of the house) and the older technology in the illustrations gives this book a more '90s vibe. As such there are a few responses that Sadie has that I don't agree with (i.e. crying to make her dad try to forget the importance of making family-wide decisions since she isn't feeling good) but it is a children's book after all....
Although the plot is rather formulaic and reads like so many other similar-type books, the writing is simple to follow along with as well as to understand what is occurring. As such I can definitely have seen myself picking this book up when I was a much younger reader and enjoying it before getting into much older series like the The Pony Pals.
My son truly loves these books. He loves kittens and any book that has kittens involved.
Flame is a young lion prince that must escape the danger of his uncle and his followers. His uncle is after Flame's throne and Flame's life. So, Flame disguises himself as a kitten and hides from his uncle. While Flame is disguised he helps others with small disputes and uses his magic as well.
In his book Flame helps two girls reignite their friendship.
It seems like Flame's enemies are getting closer before he realizes that they are near and takes off. I'm really curious, though, about how the other lion finds him just in time and whisks him off to safety. That isn't covered at all.
My six year old daughter loves to read these with me before bedtime. They aren’t what I would pick out, but I’m glad these get her excited about reading.
One day at school a girl name Sadie finds a kitten in the locker room named Flame. He is getting hunted by his uncle so he came to another world to try to protect himself. But he cannot stay forever. He has to help care for the other lions that got hurt by Flame's uncle. Sadie's dad is allergic to cats so she tries to keep it a secret but she would have to otherwise. Eventually her parents find out because of Lena's dog, Presto. Lena helps people with circus acts. but they found a way to work it out so Sadie's parents would let her keep Flame as long as he stayed in her room. One day Flame goes away but Sadie got used to it even though she really loved Flame.
A complex story of friendship - of all the "you're my best friend today, but not tomorrow, but maybe next week" variety that we all went through in grade school. Story was made a bit more complicated by adding in circus elements which kept things very interesting I thought. I didn't like how Sadie lied to her parents and hid things from them for a long time though. Not cool Sadie!
My 5 year old daughter and me read these books together and she loves them! These our her new favorite chapter books and she can't wait to read the next one! It's magical, funny, and sincere all at the same time!
I think the cat on the cover is the best part. The story is a little silly (and there are some spotty morals), but I'm glad I powered through. Also just realized this is a series. Oh boy!
The best part of this book was when Sadie found a kitten that needed help for protection and she offered to help even though her dad was allergic to cats.
