As a 1974 book, this is interesting to see how optimistic and rose-tinted the future is for UK railways. The part about some Japanese trains doing 100mph, whereas British APT trains travel at 150mph is quite hilarious for anyone who has been on a UK train in 2018, delayed, plodding and stopping all the while. Apart from that, I learned a few things, but this book is quite superficial even for a Ladybird book. I read it in no time. It's not a masterpiece like the one about Red Indians.
