In search of the man who murdered his father, Jud Hilliard is prepared to follow his trail into the Bannock Hills, where the Wade and Marion families are fighting a deadly feud
I think I’m about done with westerns from L.P. Holmes. I have enjoyed a couple of his books, but they lately just don’t seem to live up to the hype of the either the cover or the summary. In short, the stories just lack action, and what little action does occur is brief. I have several more of his books on my “to read” shelf that I think I’m just going to purge.
The Distant Vengeance was the very first western I ever read. I have read it multiple times now and is still one of my favourite books. The story, pacing, action and characters are all excellent. This is the book that made me fall in love with the genre.
