I really liked this book because it shows that we need to be kind to EVERYONE, even those who are not nice to us. Its inspirational because Ashley and Bryce helped the school bully. Matthew 5:44 "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you".

Number of pages: 249

Genre: Children’s fiction/Mystery

Series: Red Rock Mysteries #13 (must be read in order)

Age recommendation: 9-13

Summary: Aaron Heckler has once again been accused of a crime and sent to Juvie; only this time he didn’t do anything! Will Bryce and Ashley be able to prove his innocence?

My thoughts: I really liked how the twins got to help Boo in this book. I think it just goes to show that everyone deserves a second chance and I’m so glad that Bryce and Ashley got to be Boo’s second chance. He’s actually nice now and I hope Ashley starts dating him because that would be funny. Bryce would definitely enjoy teasing her about it.
I like the Christian content in this book. There’s a lot about doing what’s right and pleasing to God no matter what other people think or say, even if it’s hard or not what you wanted to do. I’m not sure how I feel about Ruth – Ashley’s friend who looks at Ashley’s party with her non-Christian friends as an opportunity to blast them with the gospel. While I agree we should be sharing Christ with everyone, is making someone your “project” that you need to save really going to win anyone for Christ? And should you really be handing out tracts at someone else’s birthday party? If it were my party, I’d rather she just brought up Christianity in a conversation or something than hand out tracts. I think face to face discussion with friends is better than tracts.
I liked that Ashley insisted on finding the owner of the money, even though it would have been perfectly fine (and way easier) for her to just keep it. It was a very kind thing to do, and I think she helped Selena to see God’s love. Sometimes we know the impact we’re going to have on other people, and sometimes we just do something because it’s right which can then impact others.
I really like the perspective changes; i.e. each chapter is from the point of view of a different twin. Often, they are working on different mysteries or even different aspects of the same mystery and it’s really fun to see the different sides of the picture. This is true for all the books in the series.
I feel bad for Leigh. It must be hard to lose your mom and sister and then have your dad remarry a woman who shortly after becomes a Christian which you’re not and then her kids start convincing your boyfriend to become a Christian. That’s a lot of change to have to deal with. Plus the fact that they keep telling Leigh she needs to become a Christian; it’s no wonder she’s so against it because she feels attacked/cornered.
Overall, a really interesting book that I enjoyed and would recommend.

My personal rating: 4/5 stars.

An unexpected chance to help the school bully gets Ashley and Bryce into a tough spot. When they’re spotted snooping around a possible crime scene, the culprits will stop at nothing to keep them from getting in the way. Very interesting kids with quality character. I'm onto the next read in this series.

I liked that Bryce and Ashley wound up helping Aaron (Boo) in this book. I also liked that they were honest about what they found in the back of the painting and actually searched for the person it was supposed to belong to.
