Look out Richard M. Nixon Middle School -- there's a new superhero in your midst!
Ricky Smootz dreads starting middle school. He and his best friend, Fred Bologna, just KNOW they are targets for bully Keanu Dungston and his henchman. When Ricky turns to his beloved Grandma for advice, she reminds him his great, great, great, 3rd cousin was a cowboy whose specialty was running bullies out of Dodge. So when Keanu wedgies him on the first day of school, Ricky summons the courage of his ancestor, finds an old Halloween costume, and becomes . . . Cowboy Boy!
James Proimos has yet to rescue a small human from a river, but he has written and illustrated many books for them. James splits his time between Los Angeles and Middleburg, Virginia.
Recently I have read several of James Proimos's books with my daughter. Most of them we found very humorous and rather enjoyed them, this one we didn't. Can't say exactly what was "off" about this one, but it just wasn't good.
