Now freed from the labs where he was created, tested and tortured, Ryen can't cope with the violent needs pressing him. The men on planet Mardu can't fight worth a damn and he can't chance sex with the females because he doesn't want to hurt anyone. Then there's Drekk, always bugging him, pushing him, attracting him...?
Drekk knows what it's like to have the needs only a Creation can experience. He's learned to blend in with the populace and balance a Creation's desire to submit with his own powerful personality. He'll teach Ryen the same, but it won't be easy. With the help of some 'tough love', he's sure he can show Ryen a measure of peace. In the process, he'll find himself both the master and the slave when he submits to the connection growing between them and falls in love.

Yeah… the pros did not outweigh the cons in this one — I’m actually surprised I made it to the end (I don’t remember the last time I spent five days on a <200 pg book)
anyway, let’s get into it
WHAT I LIKED - Spice. Yeah it was hot af and I’m going to rate it 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 for being explicit, plentiful and varied.
Unfortunately, this was all I enjoyed about this book.
WHAT I DISLIKED - Plot. Or more accurately, the lack thereof. I’m not opposed to pure smut but you could tell that the author was initially trying to include some plot (the submission plot line, the thing with Rafe etc) but they just… I don’t know, got tired? Somewhere around the 30% mark it became clear that this book would rinse-repeat all the tropes commonly associated with submission plot lines and that, friends, is exactly what happened.
- World building. At first I thought this was on me for skipping book 1 because characters kept referencing past events but then I remembered the blurb clearly labelled this: a standalone scifi m/m romance. So why was none of the terminology even briefly defined?? Wainu, mardu, shie… All the terms flew completely over my head because the author didn’t bother with even the barest of definitions.
- Characters. First of all, what’s with the weird name spellings? Ryen, Dreyk… My eyes automatically read these as Ren and Derek, sorry not sorry. Beyond that, the characters were flat and incredibly boring. It took me half the book to mentally differentiate the two MCs and I was completely disinterested in the side characters who served absolutely no purpose except to deus ex machina shit at the last minute. Speaking of which…
- Writing. You know that feeling when a never-before-seen character pops in at the 70-80% mark with a magical solution that’s going to save the MCs’ lives then disappears seconds later? Yeah, I was done at that point.
I definitely will not be continuing with this series (I think there’s only one other m/m entry anyway) but I already grabbed one of the side character’s stories so it’s just going to have to gather dust in my library.
Expect - Power exchange - D/s dynamics - Light bondage - Enemies to lovers - Brat MC
05Jul2018 Update: AND of COURSE my library just got me the more recent edition of this book, after I read the original (the one I purchased almost a decade ago?). I think I'll give it a whirl sometime this summer to see if there were any changes to the things I thought were lacking.
Original Rating: 3.0 Stars
First, I probably should have read the previous installment of the series; lots of info just kind of glossed over in this one that I am assuming was better detailed in that one. Unfortunately, I had no interest in the MF romance...
Also, I remember liking Marie Harte's writing in other books...but not so much this one. The characters were flat, the dialogue and internal thoughts were also a bit immature. I think that had we been given more of Dreck's back story, that would have let me connect to at least him because Ryen was a hot mess. The sex wasn't even all that hot (FYI MM readers: There's one MFM scene) and both characters were inconsistent in how they acted/reacted and performed.
I'm chalking up my disappointment to the shorter length; there was no time to build this world and paint interesting, engaging characters...the whole book kind of felt like that last major outline before the conversations are expounded upon, the details are filled in and the story is completed.
I'm not finished yet but this is SO much better than Susan Johnson's Hot Property which I'm about halfway through.
Both men are a good fit and there's some Dom/sub thing going on that I haven't gotten a handle on yet but either Drekk has Dom tendencies or Ryen and the other's a sub. It's too early for me to know but it's fun finding out as the story's fast-moving and the sexual chemistry between the 2 guys is strong. I love the pheromone-emitting abilities!
More later...
Finshed. Really enjoyed this one. The chemistry between Drekk and Ryen sucked me in and it was as I thought at the start - the line between being a Dom and sub is blurred here. Even until the end, you never quite know who ended up being the Dom but I know they'll both enjoy finding out!
Skylar writes a good erotic fated mates sci fi tale with lots of action. The only problem I have is that they are far to short but if you want something a little spicy with only a few pages then Skylars your girl.
I've read these before many years ago and own the original versions. But as the author is re-releasing them and in Kindle Unlimited I decided to read them again. I’m not a fan of M/M books so really just skimmed through the book, especially the sex scenes. Enjoyable characters and world. I will be reading the rest through Kindle Unlimited.
In a galaxy full of aliens, the Creations may be the most hated and feared of all. Ryen was designed as not only the perfect submissive, but also a warrior. Dreyk's strength of character shines through when he realizes that power is increased when trust is given. Will Ryan and Dreyk survive the tumult when danger strikes?
It was very eye opening to day the least. I enjoyed reading about how much like women the men acted. They have the same feelings of jealousy and love for each other as we do about our man! Very interesting!
Be still my wiggling hand, er, beating heart. This second installment with Ryen getting it on with Drekk is HAWT! Ryen is now free from the evil scientists, Eryans. However, he isn't able to control his anger. No one wants him to go rabid which would cause him to be exterminated. Drekk's "nice guy" helpful method along with meditation doesn't work. Time for a new plan! Time to force Ryen into sexual submission with force cuffs and D/s.
Warning to those who don't like girly bits. There is one little hot menage with girly bits, otherwise it's all hot smexy m/m loving from there on out. And boy is it tasty with Ryen fighting his desire to submit. Drekk's dominant demeanor is a complete turn on. His ability to persuade Ryen to submit is a pleasure to watch.
In this story, there is a plot, more than bringing Drekk to heel. We learn more about the different types of humanoids in this world. We also find out about Drekk's creation. The introduction of new aliens enhanced the story yet created more questions which don't seem to be answered. The conflict in this story is easy to believe and resolved in a lovely happily ever after. This book is recommended to M/m lovers who enjoy some kinky mano a mano sex.
If you're looking for this in a print edition - it was released as Creations: Vol 1 - containing The Perfect Creation and Creating Chemistry.
The second volume, Creations: Vol 2 contains Creation's Control and Caging the Beast.
In my opinion, these are incorrectly ordered. I'm sure they were packaged that way because Creation's Control and Caging the Beast are both male/male love stories.
These stories are very tightly linked. Correct reading order should be: The Perfect Creation Creation's Control m/m Creating Chemistry menage Caging the Beast m/m
Sooooo … Drekk and Ryen. Such an interesting combination. Both bred dominant, aggressive, rage filled and untapped submissiveness.
As you could imagine, this story is full of the struggle of who dominates who. It is in their nature to take the lead however they both have an underlying need to submit.
It was fun to see how thing turned out between them. Even though i think i should have read the first book first!
Very cute book. Though cute in a "I can barely stop myself from going on a bloody rampage" way. But what's sweeter that lovers who are so passionate about each other that they forget everything else (including all genetically bred murderous instincts)? As a side note I have to admit that I skipped the first book. I rarely feel like reading straight erotica.
I have a bit of a thing for sci fi m/m and this book is definitely worth a nosey. Definitely a series that is high drama and pretty entertaining with oodles of suspending ones disbelief, muscles, a bit of D/s, battles and 'magic' cure all man juice. heh.

The whole sci-fi part of this whole Creation series is not really clear to... me but okay...this couple was really good together. It's like they were made for each other, what made it hot read ^^. I Liked the way they bounded true the whole process of reading. Recommended story.
