Brilliant Brits: Elizabeth I

Rate this book
Queen Elizabeth I said she'd rather die than marry; she had terrible toothache from eating too many sweets; she consulted a wizard before making big decisions; and she drank beer for breakfast and astonished onlookers with her energetic dancing. Richard Brassey's Brilliant Brits series covers famous English personalities, combining colorful drawings, lively captions, and interesting trivia to create a fascinating glimpse into the life of each figure covered.

This is a funny, short (only 24 pages) biography for kids by Richard Brassey about the life of Queen Elizabeth I. She lived from 7th September to the 24th March 1603. She was queen of England from 1558 to her death in 1603. This period in history is often called the Elizabethan Age and was a time when England was very powerful. The country had was great success in Europe and was a leader in trade, exploration and the arts.

The book is packed with facts as well as funny captions and colourful pictures. There is plenty of information about the queen, her life and Elizabethan England all presented in a comic book style that is easy to read and understand.

I would recommend any of his biographies for children as a fun way to learn the basic facts about important people from British history.
