Local taxidermist Rigdon Bewley begs private investigator Haskell Blevins to protect him. He feels threatened by the relatives of the animals he's stuffed. When he commits suicide, his family and the neighbors all blame Blevins for his death. The only way for Blevins to prove he's not a murderer is to prove that someone else killed Bewley.
