Young children will be fascinated by the instant visual comparisons between today's fashions and those of long ago. Fold-out flaps on every double page take young readers back in time to find out what

This was part of our PreK homeschool curriculum. I loved the concept of this book, and my son enjoyed it. However, it was a little old fashioned in some areas for current times. On the now side of the book, it included things like tape players. Great idea, just needs updating.
I love this book! I can definately use this book in my classroom by having my students do a then and now writing activity. They can simply write about all the things they didnt know before about writing and what they know now about writing. I can have them focus on things such as the first letter in their name is to be capilitized at all times, they are to space between words while writing. This is a great book for first grade students!
This is a great introduction to differences in the way people live across time. It is definitely for a younger audience (than 5) but my son still enjoyed it. It mostly shows the difference between era's in Europe - which is important for youth to grasp. I would have liked one for the US. Also I would have liked to know specific times/eras they are comparing.
To be honest, I really don't like this book. I don't want to be mean, but this doesn't teach much. All it really does is ask you questions. Well, maybe that is not true. he meaning of this book is to look at the differences between then and now. Some of them I ignore. I wouldn't say I hate the book. This is a 1 star rating. Right in the middle.
My son who is 4 loves this book. He loves to pour over this book and talk about the differences between different eras. This book is essentially a picture book with some writing. The pictures depict two scenes side by side from different times in history.
A nice little comparison book between how things 'used to be' pre-electricity and how they are now. Each two page spread compares a typical scene, like a bedroom or a grocery store. Enjoyable talking points and fun for the kids.
Starting to get a little out of date for the now portions. :)
