Stories about parents and children. The story, Cirque du Soleil, is the reaction of a son to his widowed mother's romance with a younger man, while in Salt Lake, a daughter discovers that a man she always knew as her uncle is in fact her father.
This is a very well written collection of short stories. My only regret was that they were all so disturbingly sad. Descriptions were a bit macabre (but I like that) much in the fashion of Joyce Carol Oates. I would have rated it 4 if I had been a little less bummed when I closed the book.
