Rate this book
When your database application isn’t running fast enough, troubleshooting is usually your first move. Finding the slow part of an application is often easy, but discovering a solution can prove much more difficult. Troubleshooting Oracle Performance helps by providing a systematic approach to addressing the underlying causes of poor database application performance. Written for developers by an application developer who has learned by doing, this book shows you how to plan for performance as you would for any other application requirement.

Have you ever wanted a readable practical cookbook approach to the common question "why is my database so slow?!?"? In this book, Antognini does an excellent job at just that. He is the first person to truly help me understand the difference between table stats and system stats and how they bias the optimizer. He explains everything in a highly readable and intelligible manner. Another absolute must read for DBAs and architects.

I have read it, and this is one of the best books ever written about Oracle performance (it covers 11g too).
If you want a really good book about performance, this is for you!
This is my personal opinion, of course, but I'm sure that this book will surprise everyone!
Among the very best books, I can also suggest the works from Cary Millsap, Rich Niemiec and Guy Harrison!
