With DK Readers, children learn to read - then read to learn
Twinkle, twinkle - fascinating facts about stars, their patterns and life. Find out what stars are and how they are formed and dramatically die, watch the stunning sky as it changes during the year, follow stories behind the names, and study stars using powerful telescopes.
DK Readers are part of a four-level highly pictorial reading scheme, which uses lively illustrations and engaging stories to encourage reading. Level 2 have long sentences, increased vocabulary, information boxes and a simple index - read them together with children who are beginning to read alone and with early or reluctant readers.
They're simple. They're informative. They're cheap. If your child is too young to read, they're perfectly good read-aloud books.
What more can you ask for when stocking your kid's library?
This one is not my favorite, probably because neither niece has shown a real interest in space yet. However, it's well-written enough that *I* learned something from it.
If your kid is very into space, I would recommend this book.
Jack loved this one, though he stumbled over the longer words. A good starter book about the night sky and the significance of stars, their names, and how they've been used. But it IS a starter book, aimed at grades 1-3.
