William Jay's Morning Exercises is a treasure trove of Godly wisdom and guidance ... more helpful than ever in the confused world we live in. William Jay, one of the most outstanding preachers of all the nineteenth century, was pastor of the Presbyterian Church at Bath, England for 62years.A He is still loved the world over for his fresh, simple a "" yet profound - insights into God's Word.A His devotions for every day of the year will provide a muscular morning workout for your soul.
Morning Exercises by Rev. Willam Jay is hands-down the best devotional I've ever read. It's dense, rich, and thoroughly scriptural. Jay is fond of quoting Scriptures without giving any references. This challenges the reader's scripture memory and makes the text more poignant and striking. It's clear that Jay was "a man after God's own heart" and that he sought God earnestly.
I would classify many devotionals published today as "spiritual milk." (i.e.: lacking in depth and intensity). Morning Exercises is solid food for mature Christians, and will make mature Christians out of it's readers. Five stars.
Enjoyed this addition to my spiritual disciplines this year. Corrin and I also did the Evening Exercises. Jay has moments that are pure gold, even if those moments are sparser than the reader might wish.
