Good first half--
Precise, methodical, and hard-boiled, this book tells a solid spy story that, to me at least, was both grand and also believable (precisely because of all the amazingly minute details woven into the narrative). The second part of this first volume got me hooked all right, especially when double and triple deceptions come to light and the story starts really moving.
