This title explores the fascinating phenomena featured in series two and three of "The X-Files" television series. These include alien abduction, animal mutilation, voodoo, vampires, genetic mysteries, and strange and mysterious places, such as the Bermuda Triangle.
Enjoyable, well-written coffee table book combining X-Files geeky facts and interesting profiles of paranormal subjects. Full review: https://fakegeekboy.wordpress.com/202...
Well, for me, two things this book has going against it. Who really thought it was a good idea to have text over images? Not every page but enough spots to make it hard to read. And number two? A cash group deliberately released to cash in on the show at the time. That's just Inspired by the show.
Personal response: I love this book so much! It is one of my absolute favorite books! Scullys and Mulder's relationship is one to follow. It’s always something new. And even if they are millions of miles away u can still feel the chemistry between them.
Plot Summary: Scully and Mulder started trusting each other about the 15th case in together. They soon went through a rough patch when Mulder overheard Scully on the phone with her boss saying that Mulder is starting to come more to science that his “silly” predictions. As time went on she started to believe more and more about Mulder's predictions. Not completely though, she still had her doubts. They both have come hand in hand with death many times. Neither one have given up on the X Files. Scully and Mulder soon fell in love and had a son. Their son was in harms way the second Scully found out she was pregnant. Everyone wants William(their son) because he is what Smoking Man calls a super human. A cross between Alien and human. Smoking Man later becomes a problem for both Scully and Mulder.
Characterization: Scully became more and more trusting In Mulder. She started loving and being faithful in him even more than before.
Mulder is coming down from him obnoxious conspiracy theories about aliens.
Recommendation: I recommend this book to anyone and everyone who likes romance and criminal justice. People of all ages, and genders. If you’re up for an adventure this book is for you.
This pretty much follows on the same theme as the first volume - no real surprise there however that is its downfall in that - you can see if this book proved to be popular enough a whole series of them would follow chronicling not only the episodes but also the mysteries and thoughts behind the genesis of each episode. With that in mind the material feels more like an attempt to milk the fame of the series more than discuss the ideas of each storyline. Now it maybe that the style has not changed and it is in fact my view point after reading the first volume but the fact is the first volume was something different - this by its very nature is more of the same and with little new added. Don't get me wrong the subjects covered are all interesting but you do get the feeling that the TV series is creeping in more at the expense of original material.
Highly recommended for fans of the show. This is just a great compilation of information about real life people, happenings, and mysteries and how they inspired the show. It covers freaky people, Bermuda triangle, voodoo, witches, and more. I don't know how many times I have related the fascinating facts about witches and the real reason for their broom sticks.. and I got it all from this book.
Volume II was much better than Volume I -- written by the same person, however somehow the second volume handled the stories much more like I expected them to. The original basis for the stories that I remember...nice.
My review is the same as the one for volume 1. Great real life situations with a tie-in to the episodes inspired by them. Entertaining and cleverly written. I recommend both volumes for hardcore X-Files fans like me.
I love the X-Files, so what can I say? The book addresses several paranormal subjects, oddities, and other not-fully-explained-by -science topics and ties in to the various episodes.
Better than volume 1, there seemed to be a bit more content, and the editing was a little tighter. Still lacking some depth, as these 'official' X-Files books tend to.
I loved reading about all of the true stories that the show was based on. It is eerie to learn just how close to real life the episodes are. I missed vol. 1 so I suggest reading that one first.
