On this two-CD set, acknowledged world leaders Dr. Wayne W. Dyer and Deepak Chopra, M.D. tell you how to manifest anything you desire, if you really, really, really, really want it! Dr. Dyer, bestselling author of Manifest Your Destiny and many other books teaches you how to start getting your heart’s desire by first, becoming a self-actualized person; second, being independent of other people’s opinions; third, being detached from outcomes; and fourth, being free of any investment to have power or control over other people. Then—you must banish all doubt from your mind, and know that you can attract what you want into your life. Through manifesting with the following four steps, Dr. Dyer teaches you how to reduce the time it takes from when you decide what you really, really, really, really want in your mind and when it shows up in physical 1. Wish—for what you want to create. 2. Desire—a willingness to ask for what you want, and then you shall receive it. 3. Will or intention— you must have a hardened will and intend that you will get what you want. 4. Passion—you must be passionate about what you want. Dr. Dyer ends by saying, “What you think about expands, so think about what you want, not about what you don’t want!”
Wayne Walter Dyer was an American self-help author and a motivational speaker. Dyer earned a Bachelor’s degree in History and Philosophy, a Master’s degree in Psychology and an Ed.D. in Guidance and Counseling at Wayne State University in 1970. Early in his career, he worked as a high school guidance counselor, and went on to run a successful private therapy practice. He became a popular professor of counselor education at St. John's University, where he was approached by a literary agent to put his ideas into book form. The result was his first book, Your Erroneous Zones (1976), one of the best-selling books of all time, with an estimated 100 million copies sold. This launched Dyer's career as a motivational speaker and self-help author, during which he published 20 more best-selling books and produced a number of popular specials for PBS. Influenced by thinkers such as Abraham H. Maslow and Albert Ellis, Dyer's early work focused on psychological themes such as motivation, self actualization and assertiveness. By the 1990s, the focus of his work had shifted to spirituality. Inspired by Swami Muktananda and New Thought, he promoted themes such as the "power of intention," collaborated with alternative medicine advocate Deepak Chopra on a number of projects, and was a frequent guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show.
I have heard both Wayne Dyer and Deepak Chopra separately before listening to this audiobook. They compiled a collaborative effort while giving a presentation, and they make a delightful pair in this book/audio. Apparently they were friends in high school, and have maintained that friendship for another 35-40 years at this time. They still meet, travel and enjoy each other’s company.
This book is quite a surprising delight. We see depth, wit, cleverness, and laugh out loud humor. I really thought it was well put together.
--Deepak shared experiences and especially stressed the importance of meditating. Said that meditating helps us keep in touch, and stresses the need to speak with our minds and bodies and how they can interact and heal themselves --Dyer spoke of his daughter. She had developed bumps on her face they call face warts. They multiplied, divided and continued to grow. When they traveled to Hawaii, she met with a doctor that told her that he couldn't heal her but she could heal herself. Dad found her in her hotel room with a blanket over her head. He looked at her asking what she is doing. "I'm talking to my face bumps." She continued for four days and on day five, they WERE GONE, not a trace and no reappearance. --They again spoke of the Power of Possible Thinking. This was a foundation for the audio.
To get what you want you do the following: 1. Wish for it. 2. Desire it (Deepak says) 3. Intend to get it (Self talk, positive thinking) 4. Be passionate about it. (They both speak of Ego, and how one needs to keep the ego out of it. Keep it to yourself, explanations are not necessary).
Good read. These are both personable men that appreciate our personal value and self worth. Great examples. Recommend. Rate: 4.5 stars ⭐️
I just have a really hard time with Dyer. So many of my friends really love his work, but he lacks substance - he has no shadow or grit. I can not identify with all light and no darkness. Sigh.
Series of short clips from speeches. Despite disclaimer pretty poor audio quality. Like a bootleg concert or movie. Feels like this was a money grab.
I’m all for power of positive thinking but I can’t buy into you won’t catch a cold, can literally stab yourself and not bleed or ignore a thyroid tumor by thought alone. So I am trapped by societal thinking and won’t get what I really want.
I did have some takeaways and will work on not dwelling on what I don’t want, more selfless thinking/losing the agenda as well as finding time to give meditation a real go.
Self-actualizers: Independent of the good opinion of others, detached from outcome, no investment in power/control over others.
1. Wish for it 2. Desire it (willing to ask out loud) 3. Intend to get it (I WILL create this in my life) 4. Be passionate about it (hint: keep it to yourself so you don't have to explain/defend it--keep the ego out of it as much as you can)
This is the recording with the girl who healed herself from flat warts.
The combination of Wayne and Deepak is wonderful! I feel like I step from Bachelors with Wayne who makes the complex simple to a Ph.D. with Deepak. I listened to this book more times than I can count.
I enjoyed this conversational seminar where Deepak and Wayne presented information about manifesting from different perspectives. They also talked about some of their experiences when traveling together with their wives.
Wayne: Sometimes I'll ask Deepak about a problem I'm having and he says, "Meditate". Then I'll ask his wife Rita, and she'll say, "Meditate". (Wayne imitating Deepak and Rita's voices lol).
Pretty much the same principles Wayne outlines in his book, How to Manifest Your Destiny, but with more personal stories.
Zoom in to a seed with the microscope, zoom in long enough you see bacteria, then molecules, keep zooming in and you see electrons, protons, zoom in more and you see the nucleus, zoom in yet again and you see… nothing
Shatter the illusion of your separateness
Make conscious contact and discover the light Of the creation process and begin to manifest
In every seed there is a promise of a thousand forests
Meditate Re main sitting quiet and the world will roll in ecstasy at your feet
An okay-humorous take on inner engineering. I'm still unclear on how to turn this into results, because in no way do Dyer/Chopra talk about work and goal-setting. Instead they focus on these points:
People who manifest success use these 4 tools/steps : 1. Make a wish 2. Truly desire it 3. Focus on the intent 4. Make sure you are passionate about it
Two major themes running through the tutorial: 1. "Put your inner energy on what you want... not on what you don't want. For example, if you really despise being poor, then you will manifest despising being poor."
2. "You must think of your thoughts and inner world as currency. That is what you will continually bring into your world. "
Concreto.
This book was very good, but short. I believe in many of the teachings of what is spoken. I feel that if you believe in the positive and put your energy in that direction that's what you will receive. I believe that getting better with my GBS is due to God and the power of the mind over matter and illness. I was told that I would be wheelchair bound and never run let alone walk again and I can do all of those things and more. I put the positive first of what was good to get what I really really really really wanted! Positive wins every time! Believe from within!
This book by Chopra and Dyer is interesting, but pretty steeped in New Age rhetoric. There is a lot of interesting perspective in it and a lot to learn about how the right mind set will affect your life. Nevertheless, there is a bit too much of finding all solutions from within your self, for me!
Great audio CD. My first introduction, really to actual ways to learn to manifest...how to start changing how I think, and realizing the my inner thoughts really affect my outer life. I recommend it.
