In the late 1940s, some young theologians were at a conference Billy Graham attended. They were expressing their doubts about the authority of the Bible. Billy suddenly wondered if the Bible could be trusted. He began to study intensively, turning to the Scriptures themselves for guidance. “The Apostle Paul,” Billy said, “had written to Timothy saying, ‘All Scripture is given by inspiration of God.’ Jesus himself had said, ‘Heaven and earth shall pass away but my Word shall not pass away.’” Christ quoted from the Scriptures constantly. What do you think Billy’s conclusion was? Billy prayed and told God there were things in the Bible he did not understand (Do any of us?). BUT “I am going to accept this Book as Your Word by FAITH. I’m going to allow my faith to go beyond my intellect and believe that this is Your Inspired Word.” Billy never doubted God’s Word from that moment in.
The key to Christianity and believing God and His Word is faith. That’s it. Billy lived his life with integrity, giving any and all credit and glory to God for everything in his life. This book was a beautiful example of a godly life well-lived.
