انقدر کیف می‌ده یه کتاب یه‌جوری سخت باشه که رس وجودت رو بکشه. به مرور و آروم آروم می‌فهمی داره چه اتفاقی می‌افته.


این ترم گیم‌تئوری داشتیم و استاد دقیقا داشت کورس و طرح درس ییل رو ارائه می‌داد و این کتاب آزبورن رو هم باید می‌خوندیم.

به نظرم الفبای نظریه بازی‌ها علاوه‌بر مباحث تکنیکی، اینه که بتونیم فضاهای استراتژیک (وقتی کنش من وابسته به پاسخ طرف مقابل به استراتژی‌های من است) رو درست تعریف کنیم و با تشخیص بازیگرها، استراتژی‌های ممکن، پیامدهای هر استراتژی و تحلیل متقابل، مسائل رو حل کنیم یعنی اهمیت نظریه بازی‌ها و کاربردش رو فهمیدیم. یعنی به نظرم اول قدم اینه که بتونیم با دقت چارچوب تحلیلی رو درست کنیم. خیلی اوقات تحلیل‌های مبتنی بر نظریه بازی‌ها، مخصوصا وقتی یه‌کاسه با خروجی تعادلی مدل روبرو می‌شیم به نظرمون بدیهی و شاید مسخره بیاد (جلوتر یه مثال می‌زنم)، ولی اصل بحث به صورت حداقلی اینه که ما یه چارچوب تحلیلی منسجم درست کردیم که می‌تونیم نشون بدیم قدم با قدم با تحلیل چه شرایطی به چه نتیجه‌ای رسیدیم.


حالا نمونه:
نظریه بازی‌ها تقریبا دیگه همه‌جا استفاده می‌شه، نمی‌دونم از علوم پایه و ریاضی گرفته، تا علوم کامپیوتر و زیست‌شناسی. یکی از کاربردهای نظریه بازی‌ها توی زیست‌شناسی تحلیل جهش‌های صفت/ژنتیک‌ها در گونه‌هاست و اینکه آیا این جهش‌ها آیا "پایدار تکاملی/ES" هست یا نه؟
بحث از لحاظ مفهومی خیلی پیچیده نیست، مثلا می‌خوایم ببینیم اگر یک گونه حیوانی در فلان صفت تغییر داشته باشه (مثلا بجا آبزی‌بودن و آب‌شش داشتن بیاد بیرون آب و شش‌دار بشه‌؛ مثل لاک‌پشت‌ها) آیا این تغییر صفت پایدار هست از لحاظ تکاملی یا نه؟ یعنی آیا گونه‌هایی از اون موجود که مثلا شش‌‌دار شده است، آیا به لحاظ بقا و تولید مثل از گونه‌های آب‌شش‌دار بهتر عمل می‌کنند و فراگیر خواهند شد یا نه؟ حالا گیم تئوری و تحلیل تعادل‌های نش مخلوط (Mixed) میاد و یه فریم‌ورک (چارچوب) تحلیلی برامون درست می‌کنه که بتونیم این شرایط رو تحلیل کنیم.

حالا، می‌تونیم تغییرات در ساختارهای انسانی و اجتماعی رو با مدد همین مدل‌سازی تا حدی توضیح بدهیم.
مثلا آیا اعتماد به قرارداد‌ها و تعهد به آنها در جامعه‌ای که عدم اعتماد در آن اپیدمی شده است رخ خواهد داد یا خیر؟ آیا می‌توان یک معلم/استاد باانگیزه و کوشا بود در اتمسفر کلیِ خمودپرور فضاهای آموزشی یا خیر؟ و خرواری مثال دیگر.



حالا همین مثال بالا یه 20/30 صفحه از کتابه اونم صرفا توضیح مفهومی‌ای مدل. واقعا گیم‌تئوری باحال‌ناک است :)

از این به بعد یه مختصری از چیز میزهای منابع دانشگاهی‌ای که می‌خونم و اندکی جالبی دارند رو توی گودریدز هم وارد می‌کنم. البته نفرت‌پراکنی از منابعِ به غایت ضعیف درسی هم در دستور کار هست :) ماشاالله کم هم نیستند! یکی‌اش کتاب وحشتناک ضعیفِ جغرافیای سیاسی‌ای که مصطفی ملکوتیان نوشته!

Excellent, rigorous, advanced undergraduate textbook which will be extremely valuable for beginning graduate students, too (so do bear in mind that its intended audience is final year students in economics and social sciences, so don't expect to be entertained by colorful pictures an inset boxes and lots of funny facts). Osborne takes a lot of care in going over each and every detail of examples and proof very carefully, so it is ideal for self study.

Lots of examples. Good discussions of Nash equilibrium and its variants, though I felt it could have used more formalism/more consistent mathematical notation.

Nuclear arms race can be seen as either Prisoners dilemma vs Stag and Hare. Our game theoretic models are often oversimplifications of reality, I appreciate how the physical and economic connections were taken into considerations here.

Our models for reality determine the rational behavior.

My professor called this book a "reverse pedagogy" book. Which is understood as: a book that will not exactly demonstrate to you how to accomplish everything it asks you to do in the exercises. So, to me, that means its not exactly a useful introduction to the topic--although I do appreciate the depth in how it examined the topic compared to another stalwart text like Morrow's "Game Theory for Political Science," and for what it is worth, it was more accessible than Ordeshook's "Game Theory and Political Theory" in my opinion.

Solid game theory text book, but may fall short for somebody with experience in the subject

Interesting, the book contains the basics of Game theory with a wide range of examples covering all domains: economics, psychology, politics, decision making, negotiation, logic, philosophy, etc...
The mathematics behind are not complicated and it's easy to follow the demonstrations behind.
Very recommended to start in the field.

A good introduction to Game theory overall, the author presents quite a few examples, and in a very "structuralist" way (e.g., Here's the players, the rules, the preferences, now lets investigate interesting questions...).

It'd be good if there were a few more examples "translating" prose into a game, but overall a very intuitive approach.

The book had too little math compared to what was needed to pass the course in question, so we had to rely on lecture notes to make up for that.

But if what you're after is a not-too-technical introduction to the field, I guess you could do a lot worse.
