You should not be content to merely read God's Word; you need to have it "planted" in your heart. This means you need to have certain Scripture verses committed to memory so you can recall them anytime you need to spiritually combat any negative, distortional thoughts. ~ Don Colbert, MD
I like that Don Colbert not only focuses on nutrition, supplements, medicine and exercise to cure depression, but also focuses on the Power of God's Word to overcome depression.
He gives many tools for curing depression that your typical doctor would not give to you. Such as: Having an "attitude of gratitude", memorizing and confessing the Word of God and prayer.
This book will surely help you to combat depression and anxiety if heeded.
This book does not just give the basics of hey you need to eat right and exercise as so many others do but gives you biblical principles behind what you should eat with scripture to support it (funny its the same list my doctor gave me of what to eat and what not to) It also gives you the support and information on where to go in the Bible to get the grounding we need to walk through the dark times in our life... No it was no a miricle cure and my anxiety is gone but it has allowed me to understand it and deal with it more effectively while I still take my anxiety medication(i have had reactions to all the depression meds they have tried me on so i do not take any at this time) I find i do not take it as often and have seen a drastic decrease in my reliance on the medications and more of a reliance in Faith
Very quick read but pack full of information. Yet another The Bible Cure book that I love especially since I sometimes get the anxiety kicks. Like the first Bible Cure I've read, I've learned a lot about the chemicals in our brains that perform certain functions that is equivalent to the mental illnesses if the brain lacks of it. I love the passages and verses, I've highlighted many. I've bought this booklet back in September during MIBF and I wish I've bought more. Maybe in the next MIBF, I'll purchase more from that Christian bookstore that has a lot of self-help books too.
This book is really focused on changing your mind and replacing thoughts with Scripture. The chapters that was the most insightful were the nutrition and the supplements (especially since we live in a society where everything is focused on taking a pill). I do appreciate the fact that Don Colbert does recommend CBT for someone who has a serious disorder such as PTSD (which is running rampant due to traumas).
It's OK as a book and helpful for someone who has anxiety.
