**read for the international philosophy olympiad**
With this book, I'm done with history of philosophy. I feel confident that I know enough about the history that I can now begin reading original work, that I know who interests me and who doesn't (sorry Hegel).
This book is a pretty good summary of everything. The beginning explains the five main fields well, though I wish there was more on aesthetics, it's a fascinating field.
The next part is amazing! He talks about a lot of philosophers, connects them together, and clearly explains what they said, more or less. I loved how he writes where it's said in their books so I know where to start.
An excellent beginners book! Definitely recommend.
•things I'm taking with me•
-so apparently Americans don't have the philosophy tradition everyone else has.
- Kant's philosophy isn't about the guilt, it's about the society being illogical.
