Interesting observations, but he couldn’t decide if this was a personal memoir, a travelogue, or a guidebook, so the tone is all over the place. Lots of chapters just…end - like were these just notes for longer pieces? 2.5 stars, rounded down for all the creepy comments about women.

An uneven but exciting collection of travel stories in Mexico. The narrative is at times stilted, but Butler manages to still deliver an evocative sense of place.
