Worst book ever. The most one sided book I have read. I can't take the book seriously since the author is 14 and has only done 4 years of study in one specific field and not several others that would benefit the book more and is forcing his religion into his writing.
"One of the witnesses said the creature breathed fire" (p52).
This book is pretty great! Not because it's at all accurate, of course. "An anonymous man who is now deceased said that he saw…" (p85) is the level of authenticity at work here, and the old canard that a living dinosaur would somehow "disprove" evolution is ubiquitous. But this book was written by a fourteen-year old, with illustrations by his (younger?) brother, and their sheer joy in producing a book about dinosaurs is palpable. I don't mean this in a condescending way: I mean that when I was fourteen, I would have given anything to have a vehicle in which I could cobble together internet rumors and nineteenth-century myths to persuade the world that dinosaurs still lived somewhere. As science this book is nothing (it's not written by a scientist), but as outsider poetry it is wonderful.
Also, about half the creatures discussed are not dinosaurs.
I'm conflicted with this book... I first got this hoping to expand my knowledge of Cryptozoology (the synopsis was very enticing) What i quickly discovered however, is that it is a YEC book - a very one-sided one too. The author has very strong opinions, which don't exactly correspond with my own (although, i'm open minded) but as for the information on "Living Dinosaurs" this had many incidents/reports that i've not heard before (although, not much space is dedicated to each) and the Author seems to like lumping everything together as "Dinosaurs" whether it's Pterosaurs, Sea Reptiles, Dragons - which, seeing as he claims to have been studying the subject for a number of years, is a little worrying. Putting all that aside, i can't hate this book. I still use it as reference material, the only thing i found truly frustrating about this book, is the typos, which are horrendous and numerous.
An interesting book, with lists of sightings of strange creatures around the world from the past few hundred years. Could they be dinosaurs? Maybe. It was difficult to read because of all the bold formatting so I tried to ignore that because I know the author was only 14.
A very arrogant view of the world that Rams Christianity down your throat from page one. By the second chapter this 14 year old has proclaimed that the Big Bang is false, dinosaurs existed with man and that Noah herded dinosaurs on his "ark".....to top it off he ends the book with a sweeping paragraph that if you don't believe in god you end up in hell....
A very poor book with limited and copied information from the internet of dinosaur sightings
