Late Night Calls

Rate this book
Poetry. "LATE NIGHT CALLS is a gathering of messages that comes to us deep in our lives, where they bring the important news that it's all right to let ourselves care for one another, it's all right to give words of tenderness. The most remarkable of these fabulous poems are both fairy tales that articulate our wakeful sleep, and bedtime stories against the dark, lending reassurance and calm to those nights when we turn between loss and failure. Like the caller of the title poem, Mark Vinz 'needs to be heard.' We need to listen"—Jay Meek.

Each of these border on flash fiction/prose poetry and it was a challenge for to decipher whether the pieces are one or the other, or both (and this is not a bad thing). The author provides his vision of prose poetry in a brief intro. Read each piece more than once, and you'll find multiple meanings. It's great work.
