2021 bk 260. The year is 1987 - Business and Yuppies reigned supreme and a lot of women were exhausted from trying to do it all. Into this world enters the daily cartoon of Sally Forth, businesswoman, wife, mother, daughter. She more than just about any other literary character defined and gave voice to the attempt to have it all, and learning that having it all meant getting her husband (a wonderful man) and daughter (a bright, inquisitive young lady who all too frequently hits things squarely on the head). Sometimes we need to be reminded - those horrible blouses with built in ties worn buttoned up to the neck, the guilt trips, the linen suits that wrinkled so horribly, and the shoes - ah I only remember 2 pairs of comfortable shoes from that time. A fun reflection for eyes that hadn't quite un-dilated and needed less print and larger.
A collection of early Sally Forth comic strips (but not the earliest, there's a 1982 collection out there) They're not as fresh as they probably seemed back in the 1980s, but there's still some sharp observations and good punchlines.
