Contes et légendes mythologiques

Rate this book

The writing isn't great, but it's not awful either.
The legends were either cut in the middle (i.e. Antigone and Asclepios) or some of their crucial details were changed (i.e. Cronus not swallowing all of his children but Zeus or Artemis not being a sworn virgin and having like 50 children).
Not a great book overall, but I totally appreciate the beautiful sketches and its vintage value, and that's why I'm giving it an extra 3rd star.

The book is not very voluminous insofar as that, its being almost all-inclusive is surprising and to some extent a certain benefit. To meet this end, the author has curtailed some important details and, in my humble opinion, damaged the originality and beautiy of the tales. I can therefore recommend this book only for those readers who are already familiar with Greek and Roman myths and legends and now want to refresh their minds.
