Freedom From The Religious Spirit

Rate this book
Composed of archaic traditions and obsolete practices, and masterminded by the enemy of our souls, the spirit of religion seeks to keep individual believers and the corporate church stagnant and unaware of the call of the Holy Spirit for change. We witnessed the spirit of religion when the Pharisees failed to recognize the coming of the Christ. Today, the spirit of religion can be so subtle that we are unaware of its impact, instead being deceived into believing that God is directing us. Only when we recognize the hold that this counterfeit religion has over Christianity can we be freed to experience the transformation of the Holy Spirit in our lives and in the heart of the Church. Join C. Peter Wagner and other dynamic Christian leaders as they unveil the dark influence of the spirit of religion.

Great book. I enjoy how Apostle Wagner is to the point and honest. The truth radiates. This book is something we as believers need to read. We want a true church which is a people, not a building. Sex, prostitution etc this is not what the enemy wants. He wants to distract you and lead you away from your identity. That's the weapon and so many are deceived.

Exposes and Provides Steps for Freedom

This book is a good resource for understanding how the religious spirit works and it’s attributes. It is a soul-searching/heart searching book for seeking with the Holy Spirit one’s own heart. As believers, we need to make war with Holy Spirit strategies against this spirit and rid our churches of it.

..."...the spirit of religion is an agent of Satan assigned to prevent change and to maintain the status quo by using religious devices." ~ C. Peter Wagner, Freedom from the Religious Spirit, Page 12.

Jesus confronted religious spirits while he was on earth. The Bible shows Jesus confronting and rebuking Pharisees, Sadducees and Teachers of the Law. Today, these would be people of other religions, leaders in the church who have a religious spirit and have not the Spirit of God, nor allow a demonstration of the power of God...this list can go on.

This book identifies what a religious spirit is. Although this term is not in the bible, this is indeed a spirit that Jesus rebuked and cast out. If Jesus cast out and rebuked this spirit, then so can the child of God today. The following is a prayer that I must list here and could be prayed by you if you need deliverance from a religious spirit taken from page 129 of the book:

"I repent and renounce every opening, known or unknown, that I have given to a religious spirit, and every work or darkness connected with it.

If you have been exposed to a religious spirit then this is a must read book for personal deliverance and so you can confront this type of spirit that is so prevalent in the world.
