WAIT WHILE I CHANGE INTO SOMEONE MORE COMFORTABLE

Shy Yaya spends her time in awkward conversations with her handsome classmate, guitarist Moriyama; dressing up with fellow fans of the rock group Juliet; and avoiding her bitter, sadistic ex-friends. But whenever Yaya bumps her head or looks into a mirror, she changes into her other personality–boisterous, tough-as-nails Nana, who punishes the guilty and belts out Led Zeppelin tunes. Now Moriyama’s mysterious adult friend, Shôhei, sets his sights on Nana. He is rumored to have close ties to the music industry, but instead harbors a secret agenda.

So, 4 cuz I liked it.

I haven't read the first volume but this one was good enough to make me know what was going on in general.

I havent rated it because it's super good but because I like it, there are some stuff in the plot that yeah, kinda weird but hey, is the magic in manga, doesn't necessarily has to make sense but the story needs to keep going. When this becomes too much however, there might be a problem and so far I think the coincidences and conveniences can be excused in this volume. It was interesting after all.

This escapism, for yaya to have justice in the way of nana is something that many could relate to, I'm not immune to the idea of it and so far this volume delivered it with justice served to those deserving of it. And so I liked it.

In this one she starts to transform more and people start to notice. Strange how no one seems to recognise her as Nana but really enjoying the series.

Have you ever been that girl who is tired of being pushed around, bullied, or taken advantage of because you are too nice and don't stand up for yourself as much as you should?

Then take a lesson from Nana! When things become overwhelming for timid and meek Yaya, Yaya transforms into her alter ego Nana. Taking on a punk rock persona, Nana is a girl who stands up for Yaya and kicks some butt in the process!

Summary of Volume 2:
In this volume Yaya is transforming into Nana more frequently in order to stand up to Seri and Moe and stop them from putting down Yaya once and for all. But Yaya is not alone anymore without Seri and Moe, timid Yaya becomes even closer with Moriyama because of their connection with their similar tastes in music and Moriyama even asks Yaya to become part of his band staff to promote their concert. But instead of sweet Yaya showing up at the concert to help out, Nana comes to save the day! But where is sweet Yaya who Moriyama really wants to see or will Moriyama figure out that she is already there?!

Themes:
Rock, Bands, Music, Friendship, Bullying, Cosplay, Courage, and Split Personalities.

My Thoughts:
I read this book in high school and I still am in love with it seven years later. In junior high and high school I was bullied because I was very sensitive just like Yaya and I didn't learn to stand up for myself until late high school. But there were numerous times in high school where I wish I would have been more like Nana and stood up to my bully. I think that's why it's so easy to like Nana, even though she is very aggressive and violent, Nana is the person who we wish we could be when someone is putting us down.

I also really love this series because I love rock, and some punk rock, and this series is great for its strong musical themes; it even has some references to Led Zeppelin!

.

Audience:
17 and up due to mature content.

Overall, this is a pretty kick-ass manga!

Quiet sweet Yaya puts up with bullies for friends, surviving the school week just to make it to Sunday when she can go to Harajuku and cosplay with her true friends - fans of her favourite band Juliet. Yaya can't stand up for herself, but hidden inside Yaya, ready to come out when the stress is too much (and a catalyst like a bump to the head or a look at her reflection) is Nana. Nana is brave and strong and serves justice to those who prey on Yaya. Nana's 'justice' tends to make Yaya's false friends only nastier, but luckily cute classmate Moriyama seems to be there to try and help Yaya.

It seems Yaya is starting to notice the gaps in her memory from when Nana takes over, and this only adds to the poor girl's stress. Moriyama invites Yaya to an outdoor concert his band is having, read the book to find out if Nana is going to crash the party!

Moriyama is a seriously sweet guy, the one you totally wish had existed in your high school. Yaya is so sweet and gentle but you do wish she'd stick up for herself just once, not need Nana for it. Nana herself is starting to develop a bit of her own 'personality' too.

I recommend this book/series for any shojo manga fan.

Things continue to unravel for Yaya as her splits into Nana come more frequently and start to become more obvious to those around her. Placed into a class with her wanna-be-love and her two "friends" that really aren't, Yaya's life gets harder and harder--and Nana comes more to the fore...

Nana is the person we'd all like to be but can't, made all the more outlandish by being housed in a girl who's more repressed than most. The change is stark, and I'm happy to see the pretense of her not being the same girl as Yaya to those who know both of them is mostly gone by the time this one ends. We're being set up for an inner confrontation, I'm sure, but--and I like this--I have no idea which personality is going to win, and what role the boy-crush will play in it.

This volume is a lot better than the first one, and I'm looking forward to more. (Library, 02/08)

Trebby's Take: A very solid manga series so far.

Definitely more enjoyable than the first book, the story of Yaya/Nana continues and becomes even more enticing. We finally figure out how Yaya/Nana's split personality works, some relationships come to an end while some are just beginning, and the cliffhanger is even more compelling. Still not OVERLY impressed, though I will definitely continue to read. I do not plan to add this to my collection, though. Not yet anyway.

Yaya returns as a shy student plagued by mysterious blackout episodes where her alter ego Nana appears and causes chaos. I'm just not sure how I feel about this series, with the split personality psychological trauma stuff. Will no one seek help for poor Yaya? Will yet another personality appear someday? No one seems to notice she is suffering. It's a bit disturbing.

Awesome series with a great storyline. I love the art in this one. The main character is so lovable. I love the whole psych twist to it. I never got to finish, but I would really like to.

Yaya is slowly coming to realize that there's someone else living in her body. There are also some scenes where she's supposed to be rocking on stage. This would make a fun anime or live-action.
