I’ve read several commentaries on Revelation and this is by far the most thorough. I decided to buy all three volumes to aid with my own translation of Revelation. If I had any criticism, it would be that the commentary tends to be rather unbalanced, with some topics addressed in tedious detail and others hardly touched upon. This may reflect an imbalance in the study of Revelation; thus the commentary may be a good way to determine which facets of Revelation need to be studied further.

Fundamentally difficult to get through, but necessary if you want to interact on a technical and at times quite historical level with the text.

Aune's alleged parallels with Greco-Roman culture are interesting, albeit rarely convincing. Meh.

This is a challenging commentary if you want to be stretched.
